- Personal info: Dear community,
This is my first confirmation as a Wikimedia Steward. As I still enjoy doing the stewardry work, I would like to continue in a next term. I don't have a dedicated area of stewardry work to focus on, and I always try to help wherever I can.
Outside of my steward role, I'm a Czech Wikipedia administrator, bureaucrat and checkuser. In the last year, my list of homewikis got expanded, as I'm now also a Wikidata administrator. I'm also active at Wikimedia Phabricator.
Disclaimer: I'm a Wikimedia Foundation contractor, working as a Czech Wikipedia community ambassador for the Growth team. For more details, see my staff userpage.

A múlt évben admin lettem a Wikidatán is. Aktív vagyok a Phabricatoron is.
Fontos: A Wikimédia Alapítvány alkalmazásában állok, mint a cseh wikipédiásták nagykövete a Növekedési munkacsoport felé. További részletek a dolgozói lapomon.

- Question Hi, the discussion at Requests for comment/Site-wide administrator abuse and WP:PILLARS violations on the Croatian Wikipedia has been pending a close for the entirety of the last term, and has not had any Steward significantly discuss with the participants its status, despite a couple of requests and the more recent passing of the meta closure of rfc policy. Could you explain why a) you and b) the Stewards as a whole, failed to close (and, as applicable, execute, it)? As a connected point to the most likely answers (too complicated, insufficiently clear remedies, not in remit, etc) could you clarify both why it/they apply but also why you/the Stewards didn't make that known to every participant and ask for specific actions taken to make it possible for the Stewards to act on it, despite the insane timescale? - Oppose Hell, no! It is simply impossible to treat 30.000 CU (!!!!) within the scope of our rules during this time. Even if you convert that to days, there are more than 80 (!!!) daily. How should that work responsibly? Many other critical things also got through to me. In the position completely untenable. 30,000 CU are misuse of this tool. -- Marcus Cyron (talk) 23:08, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Marcus Cyron I would like to explain why the number is so high. Right now, global locks do not have any autoblock-like mechanism, like it exists for local blocks (this was suggested several times in community wishlist, but still is not implemented). To prevent spambots and vandalbots from simply creating another account, locked accounts are usually CU'ed at loginwiki, to globally block the IP. In the last year, I locked thousands of spambots, and blocked thousands of heavily abused IPs, thanks to LWCU. Without CU'ing the spambots, it would not be possible, and they would probably just bot-create another account and continue their vandalism. Martin Urbanec (talk) 00:13, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

- He's a long-standing sysadmin. He probably sees IP addresses scattered across production logs anyway. Except on Wikipedia the idea of IP address sensitivity is not that great in most organisations. - Neutral The proposal to relax bot policy gave me a pause. Martin Urbanec is Czech. He should know very well that global bot JAnDbot is abused and stewards do nothing about it despite clear breach of current global bot rules. Relaxing bot rules without working safeguards further encourages abuse, the opposite of what stewards should do. — Robert Važan (talk) 05:05, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

- Keep The CU accusations seem blown out of proportion. The usage is heavily tracked not only by fellow stewards but any misuse would be subject to OC investigation. Martin is exceptionally active in his duties and therefore his overall activity across the board will be higher than others, I see it every day on-wiki and IRC. Which brings the other concern. It's clear that his work in other areas has not affected his ability to effectively perform as a steward. I can see some opposition if his other duties made his activity substantially lower or insufficient compared with his peers but it seems he is excelling. I am happy to vote to keep for this user. --Charitwo (talk) 20:04, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
