Presenting Community Engagement Insights survey report: Tuesday, October 10, 1600 UTC
editHi Taivo,
I am reaching out to you because you signed up to receive updates about the Global Wikimedia survey.[1]
We will be hosting a public event online to present the data, a few examples on how teams will be using it for annual planning, and what are next steps for this project. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:00 am PST (1600 UTC), and the presentation will be in English. You can watch the livestream here, and ask question via IRC on #wikimedia-office.
If you are unable attend, you can also find the report on meta, and watch the recording of the event at a later time.
We hope to have you join us online! -- María Cruz 23:28, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!
18:26, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!

Long term abuse (cross wiki and Globally) / Mr,p balçi
editHello. Please close this user and all related accounts Globally. All of the following accounts, which are closed locally and globally, belong to him. In addition, some of them in different languages probably do not make good sense. In all wikis, in addition to sabotaging articles, he insults different users of different ethnicities. He is of Turkish ethnicity. He has created countless accounts in Azerbaijani and Turkish articles and has insulted users of Armenian, Kurdish, Persian and Arab ethnicity on various wikis. Many users left Wikipedia forever with insults and threats made by him.

This is his latest account identified. Behavioral evidence and conflict in identical articles. This user also uses different IPs. I think there are many other unspecified accounts of him.
The inspection page below lists many of his accounts and IPs. He has insulted the Armenian user with IPs in several different wikis.

- I do not know, why did you ask me. You need global administrator or steward. I cannot block the users globally. I do not understand these languages and I am not sure, what to do. You can request global locks or discuss it with somebody, who understands Turkish and/or Persian language. Taivo (talk) 08:06, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
A little clarification re: Commons
editHello, Taivo.
I'm NOT asking for an immediate Commons unblock. Just want you to know that I only thought it'd be OK to include a WT link if that link was commented out (you know, with <!--- and --->). My sincere apologies. If I had known you would block me for that, I wouldn't have put in the [[wikt:...]] part.
And FYI, I wasn't using my own personal computer at that moment, so I couldn't have kept a text file there. (For example, I'm allowed to edit pages from my work computer whenever I'm on a break.) What do you suggest I do in such situations?
I am telling you here because I am unable to make "Email this user" work on my mobile device, no matter the WMF project or whether I'm blocked. Maybe you can look into this matter? Shāntián Tàiláng (talk) 15:57, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- And besides, maybe a monthlong block is a little too much? I mean, it was an inadvertent violation of your conditions that I thought would be exempt if I commented it out.
So it seems that Surjection's statement about me (namely, that I have "no intention to follow the spirit of your law") was too harsh, for I did intend to follow the spirit of your law. I just didn't know your law applied to commented-out text [since commented-out text isn't visible unless you view a page's source code]. (Perhaps you should clarify that to any future cross-wiki offenders.) Shāntián Tàiláng (talk) 18:30, 22 April 2023 (UTC)- Not done. The third condition ends: "You must pretend that Wiktionary does not exist and has never existed." Obviously this applies to commented-out text as well. Nothing unclear is in the condition and the violation is obvious. But as commented-out text isn't visible, I blocked you only for a month (I would block you for a year or indefinitely, if visible). Taivo (talk) 18:40, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hmm, OK. I was just curious as to why the block wasn't a week long, which IMHO would be sufficient to make me stop disrupting Commons in that way. Shāntián Tàiláng (talk) 19:06, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, I forgot to ask, have you seen this request of mine? (I made sure to use Template:noping throughout it, of course.) Shāntián Tàiláng (talk) 02:29, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Now I saw it. I have nothing to say about it. These questions are for English Wikipedia and Wiktionary. I do not contribute to Wiktionary at all and I have no advanced permissions in English Wikipedia. If you want me to answer to your questions, then most answers would be "I do not know." I said to you in your user talkpage in Commons: "Please never send me another e-mail". You still sent me an e-mail. I deleted it without reading. Please never send me another e-mail. Taivo (talk) 21:22, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
Request for Reconsideration of Indefinite Block
editDear @Taivo,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you today with a renewed sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to demonstrate the positive changes I have made since my block in March 2023.
First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the mistakes I made that led to my block, specifically the misunderstanding regarding multiple accounts. I now fully understand the severity of these actions and how they were perceived as abusive behavior. I regret any confusion caused and would like to assure you that I have taken significant steps to improve my understanding of the rules and guidelines of WikiCommons.
During the time away, I have deeply reflected on my actions and the reasons for my block. I recognize that my previous requests lacked clarity and failed to convey a concrete plan for how I would contribute positively to the community if unblocked. I sincerely apologize for that oversight.
I would like to outline how I plan to contribute constructively to WikiCommons moving forward:
- Adherence to Guidelines: I have thoroughly reviewed and studied the community guidelines and policies. I am committed to following them diligently and ensuring that my contributions are in line with the standards expected of all members.
- Positive Contributions: My focus will be on contributing high-quality content that enriches the platform.
- Accountability: I will be accountable for my actions and ensure transparent communication with the community. I understand the importance of trust, and I am committed to rebuilding it through consistent and respectful behavior.
I genuinely hope that you can consider giving me another chance to demonstrate that I have changed. I am eager to contribute positively to WikiCommons and to be a valuable member of the community once again.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, — Osama Eid (talk) 13:04, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
