DomandaEdit

Ciao, c'è qualche possibilità che il "blocco" di Wikipedia finisca in fretta? Tanto per sapere--Luke Stark 96 (talk) 23:40, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

The Community Wishlist SurveyEdit

Hi,

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for volunteering!Edit

Thank you for volunteering for the rename team! I was actually thinking the other day with the recent changes to the it.wiki policy, it would be helpful to have more hands on deck from your project. Very much appreciated :) TonyBallioni (talk) 20:38, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

HeyEdit

Does username policy on itwiki allow blocking people for username violations, if a) it's not even user's home wiki b) they don't even edit that project. Was looking at this rename in which user blocked niether edit that project nor it's their home wiki, although the username is somewhat problematic but just curious to know because I asked the blocking admin and they said - La policy Aiuto:Nome utente è indipendente dai contributi e si attua prima che l'utente contribuisca. Thanks! ‐‐1997kB (talk) 15:57, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your response, I was just curious because blocking a user who doesn't even edit the project or have other wiki as homewiki doesn't make sense to me and upon asking that to blocking admin I received Questa è la wikipedia in lingua italiana e queste sono le nostre policy :-). Anyway as we can see the rename has been processed already, should we ping the renamer to this discussion, because maybe such names are allowed on their project. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 03:01, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
@1997kB: policies are established by communities, and admins just execute their will. Sometimes admins take action even if they disagree. Anyway, after a quick clarification the issue has been solved and the user unblocked. I wanted to make sure to deal with that first, so that global renamers could keep the conversation here without feeling any pressure. Now then, @MBq: could you please check this rename? My question is whether it has ever been decided anywhere that renamers can accept usernames with unassigned characters like ☀.--Sakretsu (talk) 15:17, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
Global policy is here [1]. Actually, I hesitated granting that request. But at last decided to accept it, since our de.wp policy [2] does not interdict it. Of course, some other projects might use stricter policies, AFAIK en.wp for example forbids company names or brands as user names, which we in de.wp allow. - If User:☀ fiat lux starts to contribute somewhere where pictographs are not suitable there's time to inform him/her and then act appropriately to his/her reaction. --MBq (talk) 19:01, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
@MBq: neither do we explicitly forbid these characters on it.wiki, because we take for granted that such names would be prevented by default. Given that no discussion between renamers has occurred, I think I'll submit the matter on the mailing list and see if this goes beyond local policies or if such restriction can actually be overridden. Thank you for the answer!--Sakretsu (talk) 00:06, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Statement textEdit

Hi, in your English statement text, I think you might want to replace "estimated" with "esteemed" or "[well-]established", depending on what you want to say. - Xbspiro (talk) 23:46, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Xbspiro: woops... yes, I meant to say "esteemed". Thanks for your message & translation, very much appreciated!--Sakretsu (炸裂) 00:54, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Aghny's here: I want to change my user name.Edit

I want to change my old user name to Aghny. 邬山 (talk) 22:24, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Jianhui67: would you please take care of this request? Looks fine to me (Special:CentralAuth/邬山), but I would still like to have another renamer who knows both English and Chinese handle it. It also seems that their talk page on en.wiki has been moved around and should be restored before their rename. Thanks in advance--Sakretsu (炸裂) 23:31, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
Hello, I have no objection to the rename, but they might want to head to m:SRUC or Special:GlobalRenameRequest instead. It is better to make a visible request. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 13:52, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
Sure, then @邬山: sorry for the late reply, please follow Jianhui67's instructions above.--Sakretsu (炸裂) 14:43, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

HelloEdit

Congrats to being elected. I hope you will bring the userid instead of abusive username (my SE question) idea to the stewards list and discuss, that is indeed a very good idea. Thanks for volunteering.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:10, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

RequestEdit

Please my account check.I think my account is being used by a friend of mine on his phone, please check.Soravh (talk) 17:36, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

@NahidSultan: FYI, I've locked the account as a sock of Skh sourav harder per CU evidence. See also this attempt to get GIPBE. Probably, it'd be best to block that VPN--Sakretsu (炸裂) 19:44, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

title blacklist changesEdit

I don't think that these edits are particularly useful, and I am not certain that you fully understand mw:extension:TitleBlacklist and mw:Extension:AntiSpoof. Please seek advice from your fellow stewards.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:19, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: hey :-) Well, hopefully the edits I am making will be as useful as this one, I guess. It's better than nothing, at least for the moment. About the antispoof attribute, I had never used it before, and certainly it would've been great to have a proper documentation at hand. Yesterday, I tried to get some tips from other stewards, but with no luck. However, this morning User:Daimona Eaytoy was kind enough to take a look at the extension for me and find out what it actually does beyond my expectations. I think I am good now, thanks. By the way, I can get in touch with you on IRC if you like. There are several regex which don't work and need to be fixed, including some of yours (e.g. 1, 2)--Sakretsu (炸裂) 21:49, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
