InstructionsEdit

SUL finalizationEdit

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically be named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry hereEdit

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own accountEdit

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requestsEdit

Requests that need to be made in private should be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Simple rename requestsEdit

If your rename request is simple and does not involve usurpation of an existing account or other SUL issues, you have two options:

  1. Use the request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Submit the request below in this section.

Please use this tool to check if the username is taken before filing a request.

Requests involving merges, usurps or other complicationsEdit

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username and requests should be signed by the requesting user.
Please note: Per standard procedure, accounts with valid edits are not usurped, and the target account must be notified by renamer at least one month before usurpation.

AbeceselEdit

What illusions have we made? We simply said that the identity of the person making the request could not be guaranteed, that's all, we work according to the policies, for the protection of users and the project and we cannot do favors or exceptions for anyone. We told you to contact T&S to recover the account and you didn't want! If we cannot confirm who is making the requests, we cannot process them, it would have been easier to follow the suggestions rather of making useless arguments. Having said that, I will be looking at the various requests for vanish shortly, thanks for your contributions. --Superpes15 (talk) 16:34, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Plumbum208, Ternarius, and Yger: First of all, since the user is currently blocked (with also a log of blocks) on svwiki, I'll ping the blocking admin to know if there are some oppositions to the vanish, or if this could be a problem for them. I also want to remind that the vanish is a "courtesy vanish", and not a mandatory procedure or a right. --Superpes15 (talk) 16:41, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Plumbum208, Ternarius, and Yger: Hello, I'm sorry to ping you again, but we are waiting for your reply to proceed. Please let us know if you have some concerns about this request for vanish. Thanks :) Superpes15 (talk) 22:52, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I am not familiar with this type of request, so do not know how to look at this request Yger (talk) 02:12, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

TheAafiEdit

  On hold until 30 May --Superpes15 (talk) 12:31, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Superpes15, thanks for the informative edit summary. I take a note. I thought I was too early requesting for a rename, and decided to think for a while more. Is a redirect from Aafi possible to TheAafi? ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 13:52, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@TheAafi: Sure! You can usurp it without renaming "TheAafi", creating a new account to be renamed to "Aafi" (or we can create "Aafi" for you - as you're not sysop and can't create it even after the usurp), and then you can add a redirect from "Aafi" to "TheAafi"! If, instead, you still want to withdrawn, just write it here, otherwise we can also usurp without changing TheAafi :) --Superpes15 (talk) 14:19, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright @Superpes15. Please consider this request withdrawn. I will send a private request for the redirect. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 15:23, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@TheAafi: If you withdraw this, Aafi cannot be usurped and you cannot create a redirect, please read again my message above, in which I explained the procedure (usurp without rename, creating a new account, adding a redirect), and confirm if you want to withdraw this! Superpes15 (talk) 15:32, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Superpes15, I guess I was not able to get the whole of this likely because I have been occupied by a lot of discussions going on at the WikiConference India. I want Aafi to be redirected to TheAafi at a global level. I was just saying that I do not want TheAafi renamed to Aafi (that is what I actually was referring to by the term withdrawn. Please create the account "Aafi" for me and I will make the redirect. I hope this makes some sense now. ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:36, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No problems! Thanks for the confirmation, so you just have to wait until 30 May, when "Aafi" can be usurped and we'll contact you privately to create the new account (and send you the password) :) Superpes15 (talk) 19:04, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi TheAafi, Please send us a email address by using this Email User interface. —MdsShakil (talk) 19:59, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done. ─ The Aafī (talk) 04:34, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Override-antispoof rights will be required to create this account; my meta-wiki account does not have this right. This request has to be completed by someone else who has the override-antispoof. —MdsShakil (talk) 07:24, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

HelloheartEdit

Target has uploaded some pictures on Commons, and due to licensing concerns, this account can't be usurped. What do you think? @Superpes15:MdsShakil (talk) 03:17, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@MdsShakil:, @Superpes15:, if I can't have Gallium (though I'd very much like to have it) then I'd also like the username of Phoenix. When I type in User:Phoenix in the search box on the English Wikipedia, I get User:Phӧénix (who hasn't been editing since July 2007 and has only made 16 edits to the en Wikipedia.) Is there any way to get around this if I want the username, and if so, if I can't have the username of Gallium, may I have the username of Phoenix? Thanks, ‍ ‍ Helloheart ‍ 03:42, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Target has valid edits. So, usurpation isn’t possible here. User:Phoenix or User:Phӧénix doesn't exist. We can rename you to one of these names if you confirm. —Yahya (talkcontribs.) 14:03, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Yahya:, Yes, I'd like to be renamed to User:Phoenix if that's not any sort of problem. Thank you! ‍ ‍ Helloheart ‍ 15:12, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The username is too similar to several names, including -PhoeniX- who is an active user (the other users have been inactive for many years...), so I'm not sure that the name can be changed. what do you think? Neriah - 💬 - 20:02, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Neriah:, @Yahya:, if I can't have Phoenix, I'd go for the username User:Relativity. User has only had 9 edits from 2006 on enwiki. I'd like the username User:Perth. User only has 16 live edits to dewiki, 12 of which are minor. [3]. Hasn't edited since late 2005. Thanks! ‍ ‍ Helloheart ‍ 23:49, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
