Remove IP throttle for account creation!
editHi, just wanted to let you know about this bugzilla:25000, actually this extension mw:Extension:ThrottleOverride is meant for users with Admin, and Account Creator access/rights. Admins and Account Creators can create more than 6 accounts, within 24 hours and this can't be done for other users. You may need to refer Mass account creation. Also there is an another way to create accounts at tools:~acc (being migrated to wmflabs), where we volunteers handle account requests, abide by the Username Policy, IP Blocks and other guidelines. More info at en:WP:Request an account. I hope this'd be useful to you. -- ɑηsuмaη «T» 12:03, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Work plans and drafts
editHi Pavanaja,
I saw that you have created some pages like India Access To Knowledge/Work plan July 2014 - June 2015/Konkani. However there is already India Access To Knowledge/Draft Work plan July 2014 - June 2015/Konkani. So I am going to delete those "work plans" and leave "draft work plans" if that's fine for you? Those "work plans" were marked as duplicates. I didn't want to delete those pages before making sure it's fine for you and since I saw this edit from you. Also, if you prefer to use "work plans" instead of "draf work plans" then I would suggest you to use the "move" tool to move pages to another name. If you need any help or have any question, feel free to ask. Best regards, --Stryn (talk) 19:30, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, those "Work plan..." pages marked for deletion have to be deleted. I have already updated the "Draft.." pages with the content form the "Work plan..." pages. Once these pages are deleted, we will move all "Draft..." pages as "Work plan..." pages. Sorry for the little confusion created.--Pavanaja (talk) 05:34, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Last minute search for jurors for the upcoming Wiki Science Competition
editHi, I don't know if you crossed some the messages I left on wikipedia, wikidata commons and wikiveristy about this event.
I am checking with Ivo Kruusamägi from Wikimedia Estonia the composition of the final jury. We did our best to keep it balanced by continent, gender, field etc but in the end it is still a little bit eurocentric. I mean, it is good they are not all from Estonia and Italy, but of course it could have been better. Finding 15 names (and other ones for more national juries) to help was not easy... I did gather some "maybes" from China and India in private that might be used next time, including people in national juries that we can promote, but so far I could only reduce the gender unbalance.
I hope that the results will promote science around the globe in any case. As a last appropriate effort now that more urgent issues have been addressed and we are finalizing the main organization, I am looking all the profiles of active wikimedians from or related to Africa, South American Oceania or Asia with a possible public name and surname (as a form of transparency, jurors should be public figures) and a scientific or technological education or position. Like yours.
Would you be interested in joining us to be a juror in the second-level jury? I am sure that next time we will find new additional contacts and I will not contact you at the last minute. Of course, if we can finally get two or three new names, we can promote one of them to the final jury too.
Even you don't have time, could you help us also in promoting the event amongst people you know or mailing lists or groups you have joined? This will be also useful to promote more national juries next time. It was already hard to organize one in parallel to this, we did our best to promote initiatives on all the continents.
In any case thank you in advance.--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:50, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- Dear Alexmar983, it is an honour to get recognised this way. I will be happy to help you in this endevour.--Pavanaja (talk) 17:03, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- Good! I create a wikidata item with your ID and ask Ivo to put it on the website! Stay tuned! thank you!--Alexmar983 (talk) 02:35, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- I improved d:Q15718517 with a scientific ID, it should be fine. Can you give Ivo your email? Send him a message. Thank you. Maybe we can put you in the main jury, especially if we get another name for the lower one.--Alexmar983 (talk) 02:42, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Wikimedia diversity - What happened at the conference and how to follow up
editHello Pavanaja,
We are messaging you now because you signed up as an ambassador for Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017. We are sharing this message far and wide, so apologies in advance if you are receiving this message twice.
During the conference, we dedicated a full afternoon to discussing the strategic direction and what it means for the work on diversity in the Wikimedia movement. Compiling the outcomes of those conversations, we summarized the key problems and solutions identified, and we created a summary statement. But the conversation is far from over! We still need to hear from diversity ambassadors: (1) what does working for diversity mean at your local context?; (2) what are the needs that should be addressed; (3) what resources are relevant for these identified needs?
We know that diversity gains meaning in context, and this is why we need to hear every voice. Please take a few minutes to go over to the diversity conversation page and add your comments.
If you’d like to stay in touch, and share your experience working for diversity with others, add your profile on our group here.
Thank you and see you on the wiki,
Sara (talk)

Vote WSC2017
editHi, you haven't voted yet in India. do you have problems? just late? let me know.--Alexmar983 (talk) 03:57, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- How much time do you need? I keep postponing the deadline but we should be done in one month and it takes some time to analyze so many pictures.--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:36, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- It looks to me like you don't have time to do the task, it's getting late. Should I remove your name? It probably mean i have to restart everything,l that's quite a delay... but if just had logged 10 minutes every week you have done by now... just try. it's "yes" and "no".--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:20, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- I have been struggling with the tool. It was not at all opening for me. Finally it opened. But takes long time to load images. Sometimes the next image does not load at all.--Pavanaja (talk) 16:24, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- ok you start, that's perfect. Now all can be solved easily. The frozen interface was a temporary problem when I was checking the results, and it's gone... about the other question it's just that you wait 6 weeks to vote, statistically many images were deleted because the quality was not good. If this happen, since we have not a lot of time, just put yes. It's only 12 files. If they are selected by 2 juror out of three, we will sort them at the next step. But they were deleted so they are terrible and this shouldn't have occured.--Alexmar983 (talk) 02:59, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018
editGreetings,
Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.
Kind regards

Wikimania Ambassador
editHi!
I noticed that you have signed up as a Wikimedia Diversity Ambassador, after the Diversity Conference held in Stockholm 2017. In August this year, Wikimania will take place in Stockholm, and our goal is to use Ambassadors to reach out to local communities, to spread the news about the conference and the outcomes afterwards. The conference theme (still to be announced) will connect closely to diversity. If you would like to be involved as a Wikimania ambassador, please sign up at the Ambassador page at the Wikimania wiki!
A first thing to do, if you would like to help out, would be to translate the scholarship page at the Wikimania wiki into the language(s) you speak!

Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!
