Project Goal

The goal of this initiative is to mark the increase the user base by West Bengal Wikimedias Users Group with a number of programs. The programs aims to increase number of editors as well as the quality of articles.

Project Plan

Activities

• Workshop:

1. At least Two Wikipedia Workshop in any institute.
2. At least Two Wikisource Workshop in any institute.

• Meetups:
  • 6 meetups coming year.

• Photo-walk:

1. Photo-walk at Chinsura.
2. Photo-walk at Chandannagar
3. Photo-walk at Hugli
4. Photo-walk at Bandel
5. Photo-walk at Serampore
6. Photo-walk at Murshidabad
7. Photo-walk at Malda

• Wikipedia 17 celebration (January 2018) :

(15 January 2018) We're planning to celebrate English Wikipedia's Birthday with Punjabi Wikimedians. The event will include a general meeting, discussing future plans and upcoming policies, story telling, launch and #Wikipedia17 cake cutting.

1. This is going to be a celebration mainly but with a lot of discussions.
2. We are planning to hire a professional Photography team to do some interviews and to get some pictures for future pamphlets and posters.

• Bengali Wikisource10 celebration:

(01 October 2017) We're planning to celebrate 10th anniversary of Bengali Wikisource. The event will include a general meeting, discussing future plans and upcoming policies, story telling, launch and #Wikisource cake cutting.

1. This is going to be a celebration mainly but with a lot of discussions.
2. We are planning to hire a professional Photography team to do some interviews and to get some pictures for future pamphlets and posters.

Target readership

This program is intended to mark the Wikimedia projects as a whole, but the initiatives within the program will particularly help Bengali Wikipedia and Wikisource. We expect to increase the number of editors and active editors.

Risks

• Lack of time - Bengali Wikimedians consists of such Wikimedians who are active or very active editors but they are not comfortable to do voluntarily work. Currently community has no full-time or part-time employees. So organizing such a program by volunteers may cause some problems as not everyone can work full-time.
• Low participation in the workshop and contest - There is also a risk that past contributors or workshops attendees will no longer participate in the workshops or the contest will have low number of participants.
