Search for Global RenamersEdit

Hi, sorry in advance if I am bothering you. I just want to inform you about a possibilty here on meta. After the SUL finalization there is a search for additional Global_renamers (GR). You should know, since you translated some of the related pages here on meta.

As I did with other users with knowledge of less "common" languages, I am contacting you because at the moment in Global_renamers#Users_with_global_rename_access and Stewards#List_of_current_stewards, if I correctly remember, noone is tr>3. Mardetanha is tr-2, but (s)he is not very active as a GR. More than 65 millions people speak Turkish, and I don't expect some seniors to know other languages such as English very well, so there is a gap IMHO.

Now, you have a robust cross-wiki activity and you are a sysop on different projects, and you deal with user-related issues even as a OTRS member. If you want to be more involved in the GR tasks in the future, please feel free to apply. We have accepted in the past months candidates with much lower cross-wiki activity or language skills than you, so you probably have good chances. Some of them were en-1 and you are en-2. You also were a local bureaucrat on tr.wikimedia.

Please notice that I am not an expert user on meta nor a local bureaucrat or sysop, I just care about the "variety" of the meta environment and I though that it was useful to inform some users of the opportunity. If you know yourself some profile who might be interested, please let him/her know about this "opportunity".

If you think you won't be very active in the next months or you are simply not interested, no problem. In case you want to apply, I suggest you to translate also the page Global_rename_policy into Turkish.--Alexmar983 (talk) 20:21, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Alexmar983. I try to help as best I can. --Uğurkenttalk 18:44, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Glad to hear. Please cinsider thar even renaming few names per month would be better than many other GRs, so don't hesitate to apply.--Alexmar983 (talk) 19:46, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Reminder: Please sign new Wikimedia confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information by 31 DecemberEdit

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

I wanted to follow-up on an message I sent you in September regarding the need for you to sign a confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 in order to maintain your access from Wikimedia to nonpublic information, and specifically to the OTRS system.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are transitioning to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this message because you have access to nonpublic information by way of the OTRS system and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

If you wish to stop receiving these notices, you may remove yourself from this list. Please note that doing so will not prevent you from losing OTRS rights and access after the 31 December 2015 deadline.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

Edit-a-thon in Ankara next weekEdit

Hi Uğurkent, I'm a Finnish Wikipedian and GLAM-wiki person. I have contacts to the Finnish Embassy in Ankara and I wish to help them get in contact with local Wikimedians. The embassy is organizing an edit-a-thon related to International Women's Day on Mon 7 March together with some local partners. They would be glad to have experienced Wikipedians take part in their event. I was wondering if you or someone you know would be a person to talk to. Best, --Sanahirviö (talk) 19:48, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Sanahirviö, I will announce to the Turkish Wikimedian. Thank you. --Uğurkenttalk 19:21, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Your email to me on 2017-10-07Edit

Hello, Uğurkent:

The content of the email you've sent to me has made me feel awkward and unconfortable to say the least. You can't just go around emailing people and ordering them to answer questions (32 in my case) about themselves and their relatives for some kind of homework or personal project. That's wholy unnaceptable, a misuse of the EmailUser function and some might also feel concerned about it. I won't be answering your questions. And this is also a formal request that you do not send me any email for such activities outside my remit as Wikimedia volunteer. The Wikimedia Foundation has been forwarded the content of the email you've sent to me should they want to do anything with it. I am, frankly, dissapointed about this. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:48, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Marco. Yes, it happened with instant excitement. My project was an emergency for this week. I just had to talk to someone and it was wrong. I guess I would feel uncomfortable if the same thing happened to me. I apologize on behalf my person for making a mistake. If there is a penal, I am willing pay it. I would not want a bad synergy between us. --Uğurkenttalk 22:01, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
