Ban of a person and all their accounts for every Wikimedia projects
Hi admins. There is a person who used the account de:user:Sunshine Cruise Line to announce inhuman messages (they say that some people are worth being killed). On dewiki, the account was blocked indefinitely. Now they use a new account that was blocked indefinitely for other reasons. They complained at the de-arbcom about that and lied about the first account. Is there any possibility to ban such a person (not only the account(s)) from every Wikimedia project? --Rennrigor (talk) 20:48, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- A global ban is an extraordinary measure, but it is possible under the global ban policy. Community global bans require that all requirements set forth in the Criteria for global bans be met in order for a request to be valid. For accounts whose activities may infringe upon the Terms of Use you may contact the Trust and Safety department and let them know about the situation so they can evaluate whether a WMF Global Ban would be warranted. See also Terms of Use, §10 for details ("In the interests of our users and the Projects, in the extreme circumstance that any individual has had his or her account or access blocked under this provision, he or she is prohibited from creating or using another account on or seeking access to the same Project, unless we provide explicit permission", op. cit.). If there are actual threats against editors, see Threats of harm. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:12, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, German Arbitration Committee certainly has the authority to ban individuals from German Wikipedia, if they want to. Meta Wiki admins have no global authority, and cannot intervene in this matter - only the local bodies can take an action at this point. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 21:16, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- {Contra} There is an on-going ArbCom-case on German wikipedia which Rennrigor tries to bypass with this request. Rennrigor isn't a sysop nor member of the de-ArbCom so granting his request would right now damage the independence and reputation of the community-elected ArbCom. --Odeesi (talk) 14:56, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Odeesi: yes, this is exactly what I am trying to do. The dewiki arbcom is on it's way to give a person a second chance with a new account, who says that there are some people, depending on their political opinion, that are worth being killed or tortured. As far as I understand, meta admins and/or bureaucrats can't do nothing about that, so now I will contact WMF. --Rennrigor (talk) 15:13, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Rennrigor Global ban make by the Community or the WMF, Admins can only make blocks for accounts. A global ban is only possible in the event of global abuse. Read this Global_bans/de
- Info: It is possible that the local community also pronounces a ban for the dewiki.-𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 15:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Cross-wiki abuse about Jonas Lohrmann
Hello, I'm not sure this is the right place.
On fr-wiki we've spotted sockpuppetry on the article about Jonas Lohrmann. The article attracts many SPA. See RCU : fr:Wikipédia:Vérificateur d'adresses IP/Requêtes/juin 2020#CAOUs sur Jonas Lohrmann - 28 juin : James-klopp [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits] = YTC20 [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits] = Nadiani20 [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits] = Lepetia [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits]. Thing is, they also play this game cross-wiki. There may be undeclared COI. On Simple-WP, she article attracted an unusual number of votes simple.wikipedia.org, it was deleted on de-WP, and look who's here on WD, on fi-WP, on id-WP. I guess we could block the whole batch on meta. Where should I publish this message please? Kind regards, - Bédévore (talk) 07:56, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Little forgetfulness Oups
Good evening,
I advised User:Bédévore to add Twinkle global to facilitate SRG, she installed it, but I forgot to advise her also to add twinkleoptions.js. I think she is not against adding my configuration for its use. Would you be kind enough to add this page to her personal page, please? It will be very useful. Thanks in advance.

- Hello, thanks @Eihel: I sometimes need to report cross-wiki LTAs and the gadget you showed me is great! Still getting used to it, I hope I won't mistakenly report someone who's done nothing wrong. Thanks for the follow-up! ;) Regards, - Bédévore (talk) 16:04, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Add a tag for WPCleaner
Hi. I was recently granted bot flag for WikiCleanerBot. I'd like to have the modifications made by WPCleaner tagged with "WPCleaner", like it's already the case on enwiki or frwiki. Is it possible? The tag will need to be of type "Applied manually by users and bots" and not "Defined by the software", see Special:Tags. Thanks. --NicoV (talk) 19:57, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Wikimedia Foundation wiki account request?
Hello, is there any way to request an account on Wikimedia Foundation (the original wiki site within this title)? One thing for me, there was no need to in the future. --Allen (talk / ctrb) 18:04, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Requesting a banner to be shown in all wikis
It was informed in all Wikitech-Ambassadors that all the user accounts are currently logged out. As of now, many users don't know about this and when they continue editing as usual, it will only after sometime or maybe after someday that they knew they were logged out. As part of providing an information to users, a banner needs to be displayed wiki-wide citing the mailing list link and requesting the registered users to login again. This request can be made locally, but I think it would be better if done from the side of Meta-wiki. Adithyak1997 (talk) 11:41, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think people are that obtuse. Being logged-out is noticeable by warnings that are shown when editing, and for many also by the interface being different. That said, the place to request this would be CentralNotice/Request. --MF-W 12:42, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- I agree - I don't think this is banner-worthy. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 20:57, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- @MF-Warburg and Martin Urbanec: I strongly disagree, in particular on Wikidata where you don't leave the page to edit and get frivolous warnings to click away all the time. I needed help from a sysop to hide my IP. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 22:44, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- If it is needed at WD, then suggest a local banner there. I would think that most would see that they are logged out and log in. Users are warned at those wikis. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:12, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- I'll think about it. Probably too late for this time anyway. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 13:55, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- I opened a ticket on Phabricator for a more structural solution. Adithyak1997 is also most active on Wikidata, so I do think this is primarily an issue with WD. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 15:19, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Requested imports
Could an admin or importer import the following modules/templates from the English Wikipedia?
- w:Template:Expand-section (I'll probably need to fiddle with this to make it suitable, but I'd still like to have the page history preserved.)
- w:Module:Location map/data/Africa, w:Module:Location map/data/European Union, w:Module:Location map/data/Russia, w:Module:Location map/data/America

Request for MassMessage sender rights
Hi, I'd like to request MassMessage sender rights. I am supporting the communications and outreach for the program WikiLoop, and I need to use this feature to communicate with users of WikiLoop tools about updates and new features. These communications will be sent once monthly, so I'd appreciate having these rights for an extended period of time, if possible. My previous experience using this extension were in my capacity as a Wikimedia Foundation employee, under user:MCruz (WMF). Thank you! Macruzbar (talk) 22:47, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/MCruz_(WMF)?type=massmessage shows a number of messages sent, so the user is clearly familiar with the tool. Valid use case. Granting for 2 years, please re-request if this is still needed then --DannyS712 (talk) 01:35, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Help moving page
I created a page at User:Benjamin Mako Hill/Research on the value of IP Editing that I'd like to move to Research:Value of IP Editing. I drafted the page there but it's mature and ready to move.
There are few external links to the site so I'd love to keep a XNR from the original location. I mentioned I would do this when I created the page. I can obviously just-and-paste and make the redirect by hand but it seems better to preserve the history of the page. Thanks! —mako๛ 22:33, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello all. Should {{edit protected}} be merged into {{edit request}}? The latter is able to categorise requests into different categories, Category:Meta protected edit requests for interface administrators and Category:Meta protected edit requests. I am replacing Johanna Strodt (WMDE) who will be absent until January 2021. I will need the mass messaging rights to communicate the major software changes to the Wiki communities. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Robin Strohmeyer (WMDE) (talk)
- Done @Robin Strohmeyer (WMDE): Granted for 1 year, feel free to re-request after expiry if still needed. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 15:26, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

CheckUser Indicators
Recently {{Unrelated}} is vandalized. Please semi-protect all templates in {{CheckUser Indicators}}.--GZWDer (talk) 16:31, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- IMHO, it is not high volume vandalism enough. I do not mind if others do act though. --Base (talk) 18:52, 22 July 2020 (UTC)

Message on my talk page
I received a message on my talk page from an IP. See here. Do you think they are just here to troll? Interstellarity (talk) 11:28, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- That IP messaged you about your revert on English Wikipedia. I don’t see any trolling. And I don’t understand why Martin Urbanec has reverted the IP’s message. --Pols12 (talk) 12:37, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- I think he did it because the message looks like gibberish and is not exactly in a friendly tone. So I can also see why Interstellarity was wondering if it's trolling. There is usually no point in answering such messages. --MF-W 12:49, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
