Patroller flag for Ahmad252 (talk · contribs)

Hello. I'm asking for the patroller flag for my account (Ahmad252) so that I can fight vandalism more effectively. As a member of SWMT, I usually use SWViewer. Because of this, I try to watch Meta's changes in real-time and revert vandalism. The patroller flag will help me in this, as well as in reviewing new unpatrolled pages. Thank you. Antivandalism (local)

Quoting an edit filter: If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Antivandalism (local), I posted a shorter Proposal to close comment.
Presumably you have a blacklist including "jirks and decks" matching the title of a "historic" RFC. On enwiki they have a "fock and purn" filter, I'm not sure how helpful against vandalism that actually is. –84.46.52.96 07:54, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Yes, you are caught in the abusefilter. I have modified your comment to include what you originally intended to say (per the abuse filter). You can edit it from there if you modify it in any way (should you have changed your mind). All the best, ~riley (talk) 08:02, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Request creation "user:霜奶仙是傻逼" and "user:肏霜奶仙他妈", content is "{{doppelganger|霜奶仙}}"

These two accounts are my separate doppelganger users.--霜奶仙 (talk) 07:37, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

I will suggest against creation. These accounts as far as I now is to prevent impersonation and vulgar usernames towards them per SRUC, but I am not keen for such pages to be created where the title is vulgar in nature. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:47, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
  •   Not done = @霜奶仙: I understand where you are coming from, I have about 2 accounts made per day with my name involving profanities so I know this can both be frustrating and hurtful. My rule of thumb is that if the Account Creations team wouldn't approve creation, we shouldn't. Intentionally creating doppelganger usernames to prevent impersonation is one thing, but it is another to create vulgar doppelganger usernames. The point that you're missing is that if "x is stupid" is taken, they will just make "is an idiot" instead. Let's not feed the trolls. If this abuse becomes long-term and all other options fail, we can consider adding your username to the title blacklist as a last resort. Disruptive voting from user:Liuxinyu970226

Yet again, Liuxinyu970226 is creating hostile and inappropriate comments in this election. He was warned in 2019 for making baseless accusations and other nonsense, but it doesn't appear to have sunk in. Can someone please do something about these ridiculous comments which include implying that a current Steward is dead, another implying that stewards are going to "hit" corona virus (often repeatedly) and blatantly trolling with absurd questions. This is highly inappropriate in any forum, much less Steward elections and seems to be a continuing trend. I'd propose a partial block from election pages. Request for closure for Meta:Requests for comment/Enable 2FA on meta for all users

Hello, as I am involved in the discussion I can't close it. Hope for an uninvolved sysop to close this as it is almost 1 year and 3 months already and there had not been active discussions since after Dec. I read through the entire RFC, there seems not to have any consensus on implementation, with both for / against having good points and they are not effectively rebutted by either side, leaving there to be a stalemate. In addition, there is a suggestion for global RFC but I will caution against as this is just to enable 2FA on meta, not globally, the scope should be limited to a meta RFC. Thanks much. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:05, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

"그래프" is triggering. — regards, Revi 11:08, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @Camouflaged Mirage: The contributor is asking about the action of the global filter. [2].

@Garam: Casino spam, guessing it will be one of the words "카지노", "그래프", "놀이터" or an English version of the word casino, or something like that where it is a new page and the user doesn't have some level of non-zero rights. The filter was discussed with Revi prior to implementation. Anyway, I have scraped the text and created the page wikt:ko:코로나.

Recently we gained the ability to skip wikis with filter rules, and I have now excluded kowikt from this rule.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:22, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: I am just wanting to verify which edits the local filter caught. I didn't went that back to 10 Feb for our filter logs. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:27, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
If they are here mentioning one of our filters, and a specific wiki, we should just hand over the results to trusted users. You can run a quick filter for kowiktionary hits and it is pretty evident that the first mentions are those of interest.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Requesting Mass Message Rights for Max Klemm (WMDE)

Hereby I request mass message rights for myself, Max Klemm (WMDE). I work in the Technical Wishes Team at Wikimedia Germany, and I am responsible for the Community Communication with Johanna Strodt (WMDE). Protect the SRG page

Good morning everyone. Please protect the SRG page. It has been recently vandalized multiple times by long-term abusers in the past seven to ten day(s). Notable examples of vandalism include: this edit, this edit and also this edit. Thankfully, some of the users have already been globally locked by some stewards, including Defender, Revi and Matanya. I know that Hasley and WikiBayer have some experience with this particular LTA. Please see also the revision history. I saw that there have been more than ten reversions in probably the past couple of days. I do hope that the SRG page will definitely be fully protected by someone. Thank you and have a great day. 185.163.46.141 05:14, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

I believe that the next level of protection is "sysop only". The page is frequently edited by non-admins and protecting it as "sysop only" doesn't seem to do any good. Minorax (talk) 05:43, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Basically per Minorax, we can't increase the level of protection, the only solution is to keep watch of the page and block/lock the LTA.--AldnonymousBicara? 09:08, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Concurred. Best is to revert, block, ignore those users. They are clearly gaming autopromotion to autoconfirm, but still manageable, or else we can deploy some abuse filters. Just to note that is a steward page and meta sysops typically defer to stewards to manage their own pages. If uncontrolled, stewards should be able to respond accordingly. Thanks for the report, we will keep an eye on it. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:40, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, it does look like we do need more admins here. 185.163.46.141 12:32, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
We need more admins always, but we need active ones and for now, the coverage seems alright to me as compared to a year ago.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:33, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
I do have a great idea, we should add some edit filters so that this LTA won't edit on SRG anymore because it's been happening all the way back since last month. 185.163.46.141 12:36, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Not now, blocking is still the best. Closing this thread as nothing more is required at the present. --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:39, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
  • Just a note about these threads: One of the LTAs loves to point out how much vandalism the SRG/related pages gets. Other patterns of behaviour include pinging random admins. Please, if you see threads like these in the future, just revert and block on sight. Deny recognition and all that. – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:42, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Request for flood

Hi. Can I please be flagged as a flooder for a bit (I'm about to get off for today, and don't know how long it'll take when I'm back, so ~2 days should be enough) to clean up translations of links at Meta:Policies and guidelines? The whole translated message for links is currently, eg, <translate><!--T:65-->[[<tvar|1>Special:MyLanguage/Terms of use</>|Terms of use]]</translate>. This results in a translation [[$1|translate the message here]]. Only the piped text should be in the translation unit, simplifying translation without no net change in the end. To transition, current translations need to be updated, which will be a lot of repetitive edits that would flood rc. I have read Meta:Flood flag, and if I need to make any edits that shouldn't be hidden I'll use one of my alts. Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 07:48, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

This needs a crat attention. @DannyS712: If without flood how much edits will you be making? If it's not like 100/ min in RC should be fine w/o flood. No opposition in granting flood though just there are only 3 crats.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 15:58, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

It is tagged correctly now. It gives important context to the translator as well as helps Translate interface render translation as a link in its preview. --Base (talk) 14:34, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

@Base: Do you then oppose DannyS712's proposed edits? Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:44, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
MarcoAurelio, I do. --Base (talk) 15:52, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Then {{not done}} per Base. Do discuss the edits somewhere and when there is consensus, come back to request for flood to execute the changes if needed --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 15:53, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Agree with Base. Current scheme is optimal; please do not broke this. In common case, proposed change may be doing by single edit; Flood flag is unneeded for this task.--Kaganer (talk) 23:07, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
@Base, DannyS712, and MarcoAurelio: I'm re-check this page, and I tend to agree with Danny's idea. In common case, current scheme is better; but Meta:Policies and guidelines is mainly table, and first column in this table entirely filled by wiki-links. Thus, the proposed simplification for the first column seems reasonable, and I   Support its implementation, but flood flag for this seems redundant. Initial change may be doing by single edit; and then should be needs update very many translated strings - but translation namespase excluded from default view of the Recent Changes. --Kaganer (talk) 23:38, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Danny, Thank you for the initiative and the willingness to implement it! Please note: i'm made some edits (to isolate the remaining direct links in the second column).--Kaganer (talk) 23:41, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
Removed the not done for further discussion.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 09:54, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
