In a campaign to cut costs, officials suggested the patent office might simply be shut down. It seemed like every possible invention had been created and patented already.

We all know how that turned out!

Today, people see Wikipedia's 22 million articles, and they think everything has already been written about. But that's not true. There is still a lot of work left to do.

I'm Srikeit, and my friend is Noopur. We are members of the largest generation of young people in the world. In fact, more than half of India's 1.2 billion population is younger than 25 years old. Our generation benefits from better education, higher literacy rates, and widespread Internet access. The world is changing, and we're helping change it. But we still have a lot to accomplish.

Through this amazing project -- Wikipedia -- we can bring the world's knowledge to India. And we can bring India's knowledge to the world.

Please, donate whatever you can to help Wikipedia grow. We still have so very much to do.

Srikeit lives in Mumbai, where he works at an advertising agency. Noopur is pursuing her Ph.D. in Cinema Studies. Friends for five years, their bond has deepened since Srikeit introduced Noopur to Wikipedia, and they began working together to educate friends, classmates and colleagues on how they can contribute to Wikipedia, too.
