IEG Committee candidacy edit

Hi Olaniyan Olushola,

I just saw that you've submitted a candidacy statement for the IEG Committee. Thank you for doing this - we appreciate that you took the time to share your background and thoughts with us - however, I wanted to let you know that we are no longer accepting new committee members for this round. I encourage you to re-submit your statement (or at least confirm that you are still interested) during the next round and call for new committee members. In the meantime, I hope you'll stay still involved in IEG by commenting on proposals.

-Thepwnco (talk) 21:42, 4 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Olaniyan Olushola: thanks for following up on this. The IEG program will be starting a new round soon. The dates of the next round (round 1 2016) can be found here at Grants:IEG - I have been told these dates might change a bit but they should still give you a good idea of the general timeline for when committee members need to be active. I'm not yet sure exactly when we will be making decisions about new members, but I will take your last message to mean you are still interested in joining. We will be in touch soon! thanks, -Thepwnco (talk) 13:37, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Olaniyan Olushola: hello - another update on this! We are hoping to finalize committee membership by April 1st. I also wanted to let you know (if you haven't heard already) that the focus of the next grant program will be content curation and content review. More information about this can be found here. If you have expertise in either content curation or review it'd be great to hear about it in your candidacy statement for the committee. cheers, -Thepwnco (talk) 12:52, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi,Thepwnco thank you for this information. I have experience in Content Curation and review. Therefore, I will be so happy to work with the team.Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 22:19, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to the IEG Committee edit

Hi Olaniyan Olushola,

Thanks for signing up to join the Individual Engagement Grants Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We've got a lot to accomplish together, particularly during the next 2 months, and it will be awesome to have your help. Here is how to get started:

To make your membership official, please do 2 things by April 21, 2016:

  1. Introduce yourself in the IdeaLab.
  2. Send your email address and preferred username to IEGrants wikimedia.org, so that we can subscribe you to the committee mailing list and get you setup on the committee's internal wiki.

Then there are 3 first tasks for active committee members to start on right away:

  1. Read the information in the Committee Workroom (your committee organizing hub on meta), beginning with the getting started guide for new members.
  2. Join at least one working group.
  3. Start giving feedback on submitted proposals. Asking questions to gather information you’ll need to make a recommendation helps prospective grantees think their projects all the way through, and will give us more great proposals to choose from.

Formal IEG Committee review of proposals starts on 3 May. WMF staff will be posting information about scoring and selection of proposals on the committee mailing list and in the Workroom soon, so please keep an eye there!

Thanks again for joining us to help make impactful IEGrants :-)

Best, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 21:42, 18 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia diversity - What happened at the conference and how to follow up edit

Hello Olaniyan Olushola,
We are messaging you now because you signed up as an ambassador for Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017. We are sharing this message far and wide, so apologies in advance if you are receiving this message twice.

During the conference, we dedicated a full afternoon to discussing the strategic direction and what it means for the work on diversity in the Wikimedia movement. Compiling the outcomes of those conversations, we summarized the key problems and solutions identified, and we created a summary statement. But the conversation is far from over! We still need to hear from diversity ambassadors: (1) what does working for diversity mean at your local context?; (2) what are the needs that should be addressed; (3) what resources are relevant for these identified needs?

We know that diversity gains meaning in context, and this is why we need to hear every voice. Please take a few minutes to go over to the diversity conversation page and add your comments.

If you’d like to stay in touch, and share your experience working for diversity with others, add your profile on our group here.

Thank you and see you on the wiki,
Sara (talk)

Translation request for New Readers Inspire Campaign-- and thanks! edit

Hi there! I'm contacting you because you've volunteered your time in the past to help translate Inspire Campaigns, or you've expressed an interest about helping to translate. We have a new campaign starting soon about new readers, as we try to encourage contributors to develop ideas on how to inform and invite people to use Wikipedia, especially in places where folks are not aware of it. There are two pages that will need translation:

There will be one additional page for translation that includes the questions we will be asking idea creators when they submit ideas for the campaign. I will notify you when that prose is ready.

Finally, thank you for your support; it's very important to me that these campaigns are accessible to folks across non-English Wikimedia projects, and I wouldn't be able to do that without your time and effort. In appreciation, I'd like to send you a postcard from Chicago where I reside. If you'd like to receive a postcard from me, please e-mail me with an address I contact you at to my work e-mail, cschilling wikimedia.org. I realize this is private information, so if you would prefer not to receive a postcard, that is understandable. Your work to make our projects accessible to everyone is no less appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions about the prose regarding translation. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) 20:33, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

We will be responding to questions throughout the workshop, too. If you have an idea to contribute to the campaign, but have doubts or questions, bring them in!

Programs Dashboard survey response edit

Hello Olaniyan Olushola! My name is Trevor Bolliger and I am a product manager at the Wikimedia Foundation working on the Community Tech/Programs and events dashboard project. Thank you for your participation in the survey. I have one clarifying question for you: you mentioned that the setting up time was a frustration. By this, did you mean that it is time-consuming to set up a new Program? Or something else?

Thank you! — Trevor Bolliger, WMF Product Manager 🗨 18:30, 10 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

New community space for IdeaLab on Connect edit

Hi folks. If you're receiving this message, you've contributed to IdeaLab or an Inspire Campaign this year. Thanks for participating to develop ideas and review ones from other Wikimedians.

We are preparing some changes to IdeaLab and Inspire Campaigns. One of these changes is a new community space on Connect, where Wikimedians can find each other based on common activities or skills, and ask questions about the space. You are invited to join this community space for IdeaLab, especially if you would ever consider needing to find contributors with certain skills (like design or project management) or would like to offer your skills to others in our movement. To join, please proceed to Connect/IdeaLab and click on the "Add yourself" button on the right. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) 19:53, 21 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Inspire Campaign on Measuring Community Health edit

Do you have an idea about how to measure the health of your community? Do you want to review ideas that others have submitted? Through August 10th, we are inviting ideas on how to capture the well-being of Wikimedia communities, in terms of matters like conflict resolution, effective content creation, and being able to contribute in a collaborative environment. Ideas can be focused on either quantitative techniques, such as gathering raw data, or qualitative techniques, like surveying contributors. If you are submitting an idea, guidance is available for how to move your idea into implementation, such as through a grant or starting a Phabricator task to engage with developers.

If you're interested, consider joining the Inspire Campaign. I JethroBT (WMF) 17:14, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018 edit

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards

Wikimania Ambassador edit

Hi!

I noticed that you have signed up as a Wikimedia Diversity Ambassador, after the Diversity Conference held in Stockholm 2017. In August this year, Wikimania will take place in Stockholm, and our goal is to use Ambassadors to reach out to local communities, to spread the news about the conference and the outcomes afterwards. The conference theme (still to be announced) will connect closely to diversity. If you would like to be involved as a Wikimania ambassador, please sign up at the Ambassador page at the Wikimania wiki!

A first thing to do, if you would like to help out, would be to translate the scholarship page at the Wikimania wiki into the language(s) you speak!

Invitation to affiliate members to complete a survey about WMF wide Universal Code of Conduct edit

Hello; My name is Mervat, and I am helping the Trust and Safety team to reach out to affiliates in order to discuss the Universal Code of Conduct. I am contacting you as you are a member of the Wikimedians for Sustainable Development User Group. If you have received this from other user groups/chapters, you can ignore.

There has been talks about the need for a global set of conduct rules in different communities over time, and finally, Wikimedia Foundation Board announced a Community Culture Statement, enacting new standards to address harassment and promote inclusivity across projects.Since the universal code of conduct that will be a binding minimum set of standards across all Wikimedia projects, will apply to all of us, staff and volunteers alike, all around the globe, and will impact our work as groups, individuals and projects, it’s of great importance that we all participate in expressing our opinions and thoughts about UCoC, its nature, what we think it should cover or include and what it shouldn’t include; how it may develop, drawback or help our groups.   This is the time to talk about it. As you are a valuable contributor to the Wikimedia movement, your voice counts. Before starting to draft the code of conduct, we would like to hear from you; We invite you to devote some minutes to take this survey; your answers will help us create a safer environment for all on Wikimedia:

(English) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd36dNdU3C5shXEkKp9itJOhuCTx9hZE5AE-xflkxtfRMnZtg/viewform?usp=pp_url

It’s possible that you are a member of more than one affiliate; hence you may receive this survey more than once, and you may have participated previously in the discussions or filled out a previous survey during the first round of consultations about UCoC which targeted wikipedia/wikimedia communities. We apologize for this; it is really difficult to identify if a wikimedian belongs to multiple groups that work to spread free knowledge. Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions and hoping that you can respond within the next 2 weeks.  If you have any questions about the surveys or difficulties accessing the link, please contact me by email (msalman-ctr@wikimedia.org)Results will be considered during the drafting process for the UCoC. Thank you for your participation.

We need your feedback on a tool from the Wikimedia Summit edit

Reminder: the guide to using Baserow, presented during the Wikimedia Summit.

Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).

Baserow was a tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.

You are welcome and encouraged to fill out the survey in any language. Your feedback would be very appreciated --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 14:54, 16 February 2023 (UTC).Reply
