- Personal info: Dear WMF Community, it has been a great pleasure for me to serve the community for the past 10 years as a steward, like the past couple of years I was mainly active in the field of fighting and long-term abusers and spambots, I was regularly available on IRC for emergency occasions and monitoring Small wikis and helping urgent requests. Given my stable status in life, I would like to serve the community for another year. Mardetanha (talk) 15:54, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

- Question Hi, the discussion at Requests for comment/Site-wide administrator abuse and WP:PILLARS violations on the Croatian Wikipedia has been pending a close for the entirety of the last term, and has not had any Steward significantly discuss with the participants its status, despite a couple of requests and the more recent passing of the meta-rfc policy. Could you explain why a) you and b) the Stewards as a whole, failed to close (and, as applicable, execute, it)? As a connected point to the most likely answers (too complicated, insufficiently clear remedies, not in remit, etc) could you clarify both why it/they apply but also why you/the Stewards didn't make that known to every participant and ask for specific actions taken to make it possible for the Stewards to act on it, despite the insane timescale? Nosebagbear (talk) 15:00, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- From what I know Wikimedia foundation is working on the case, probably Trust and Safety team can provide a better update of the case. Mardetanha (talk) 15:06, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

- Remove. Unless one can indicate any change in the location of this steward, I cannot support having those sensitive permissions in the hands of someone residing in Iran (much like I would not support having a steward from Russia), and, seeing the future outcome of this vote, can only wish that they will be staying safe from their own government in their next tenure. (My vote is to remove because leaving this to chance of never discovering this potential asset seems irresponsible to our movement.) stjn[ru] 22:16, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

- Remove. I do not trust a Steward who not only closed an RFC contrary to consensus, they admitted receiving a financial package dependent upon closing in that manner. The RFC was Meta Do something about azwiki, the closing diff, and the close briefly alludes to the financial package where they say they will be traveling to Azerbaycan this month (with WMF support). Anyone with a direct financial conflict of interest has absolutely no business selecting themselves as closer - if they disagreed with consensus or they wanted to propose a different solution then they should have posted as a participant. Anyone who would preform a financial-conflict-of-interest close has no business being a Steward. Alsee (talk) 13:37, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- This is comment is both insulting to me and to Wikimedia Foundation, The Foundation's travel grant process is completely separate from T&S or any other part of the Foundation. The assumption that it is one giant, a homogeneous organization is wrong. Mardetanha (talk) 14:56, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- I never said the Travel Grant was part of T&S. I never said the Foundation was homogeneous. I said I don't trust you to be a Steward, because you should have known not to close the RFC when you had a direct financial conflict of interest. You would not have received the grant $$$ had the RFC been closed in accordance with consensus.
- If it was simply a mistake and you failed to notice the conflict of interest, you should have immediately withdrawn the close when that conflict was brought to your attention. Instead you refused, arguing that grant $$$ "was/is not something of value".[1] Alsee (talk) 16:57, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- This is more assuring for me that you don't understand what you are talking about, I am disgusted by your comment Mardetanha (talk) 06:41, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

(Opposing based on nationality is absurd and should be ignored in its entiriety)–Davey2010Talk 21:15, 22 February 2021 (UTC)- @Davey2010: As you have commented on my vote, I would just like to comment that not wanting to have global CU permissions vested in someone who can be imprisoned for no apparent reason if the state wishes so is not absurd. Especially, as was mentioned on previous re-election, in someone with public profile that is even easier to find. stjn[ru] 18:51, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
