Megalibrarygirl
Welcome to Meta!
editHello, Megalibrarygirl. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum if you need help with something (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Happy editing!
AfC
editactually, AfC is worse than AfD, it is more like premptive-prod. there is the trend to shift the burden on the content writer, and sit back and reject everything. why waste time debating deletion, where there is a semblance of policy discussion, and the possibility of keeping, when you can just template reject, and delete after 6 months. we advise never to go to AfC, all the editathons such as women in red do not use it. DGG was talking about blowing it up, but people who want to delete, defend it. Slowking4 (talk) 03:19, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- I think you have a good point, Slowking4. Many who ! Vote delete in AfD are very active on AfC. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 21:08, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

JSTOR account redistribution (The Wikipedia Library)
editHi - according to our records you received a free account for JSTOR through The Wikipedia Library. Because we’ve used up all of our allocated accounts, and it’s been some time since they were distributed, we want to redistribute any accounts that aren’t being used to users on our waitlist.
If you’re still using, or plan to use, your JSTOR access, no problem! Simply head over to the Library Card platform, log in, and request a renewal of your account. You should be able to do this from your user page, or the JSTOR signup page. If you can’t find the renewal button, or have any other issues or questions about this, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. We’ll begin redistributing inactive accounts in September; if you request renewal after then we will only be able to reactivate your account if we have spots remaining. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:32, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
The story of women and power
editHi Megalibrarygirl,
I don’t like burdening an individual with a request, but my posting at Talk:Gender gap has been reverted twice already (see: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Gender_gap&oldid=18583764#The_story_of_women_and_power) so I decided instead to try and reach someone who has the privilege of editing wikipedia and is interested in updating articles about women. Your user page on wikipedia says that you have an interest in expanding articles about women, so I thought I would try to reach you about the w:Amanda Vickery article.
I hope you can help
Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 00:37, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

Appeal
editHi,
This is SHISHIR DUA profoundly active at En Wikipedia. I've been blocked indefinitely at the same. I profoundly appeal for my unblock. Check 2020, [1] and [2]. I'm profoundly grieved. "I profoundly apologize for inconvenience and absurd thing so caused. I solemn to abide by the policies and regulations stipulated by Wikipedia. I vow you to eliminate all of these in future. Please for the last time unblock me. This time I mean it. Please uplift it for the last time. I solemn to eliminate vandalism and disruption if caused earlier. Please don't take my other issues into account as I worked on most of them if left I'll. Conclusively, Please endow a last chance." is what I connoted is in vain.
Please for my over 7500 decent edits consider this stuff and uplift the block or please suggest me the way. I've also tried UTRS. Hope you revive me out. I've also gone through WP:CIR and WP:Block.
With profound regards
SHISHIR DUA (talk) 05:23, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- @SHISHIR DUA: I can tell that you are very distressed about the block. I think the best thing to do is to take a wiki-break. Reflect on what happened for at least a week or so. You'll probably see things more clearly at that point. I'm not sure why you were blocked and I'm sorry that you got into that situation! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 14:07, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
Please check it Special:permalink/983187059#Over exhaustive and indecent behaviour also WP:CIR is connoted. SHISHIR DUA (talk) 15:43, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
Can u plz suggest a way to be unblocked SHISHIR DUA (talk) 19:32, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- @SHISHIR DUA: that link doesn't work. But I think that taking time off is the best solution for the time being. Everyone needs a cooling off period when something upsetting has happened to them. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 19:39, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
I Certainly will, as u suggested but links [3] and [4] may work. Only I wanna find a solution to unblock myself. Thanks for your support.SHISHIR DUA (talk) 05:34, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- @SHISHIR DUA: Thanks for the links. I definitely think taking time to think about the situation for yourself is the best way to go. One of the criticisms I see is that you need to take time and care with your work. Spend the time reflecting. It's good to catch your breath sometimes. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:58, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks a million SHISHIR DUA (talk) 17:03, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi, [5] under section UTRS 36164 "UTRS appeal #36164 is now close. My response is copied below. I'm sorry, but as you have repeatedly inadequately addressed the reasons for your block, and by a consensus of reviewing admins, you are now ineligible for consideration at UTRS until six months from now. This has been an open-book test. All the policies and guidelines relating to correcting the problems you encountered and created are there for the reading. Even so, I see no indication of you actually understanding what to do and what to not do. It comes across that you don't really understand the manner in which your edits were wrong, so you cannot help but repeat them. Please consider spending that time constructively and collegially editing other Wikimedia projects and other versions of Wikipedia. Please do not evade your block or use sock puppets. After at least six months of constructive, collegial editing have passed, you may again request unblocking. Please describe in greater detail how your editing was unconstructive and how you would edit constructively if unblocked Please read Wikipedia's Guide to appealing blocks for more information. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks)."
What's ur suggestion that I should mention on the link cited please tell me what should I mention what to write in disruption. SHISHIR DUA (talk) 06:56, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- SHISHIR DUA It's really clear to me that you need to take a break. In the pasted info above, you were advised to spend your time off-Wikipedia wisely. I suggest you follow that advice. I know it's not what you want to hear, but I think that's what you need to do. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 15:43, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
@Megalibrarygirl: Please check the activity of removin' me as a participant 'gainst my will by User:Drat8sub [6] He is revealin' indecency once 'gain. Please explain what needs to be done. All he is tryin' to do is takin' advantages of me bein' block'd. My earnest request is to stop his nasty behaviour. With profound regards SHISHIR DUA 07:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!

Invitation to participate in Universal Code of Conduct survey - WikiWomen's User Group
edit(You are receiving this message as you signed your interest to participate as part of the WikiWomen's User Group)
Hello, my name is Mervat Salman, a UCoC Facilitator, Trust and Safety team.
As you know, the WMF Board of Trustees ratified the Universal Code of Conduct early in February. That's the beginning; the policy itself cannot be used if the enforcement pathways are not defined. The implementation and enforcement of the UCoC requires the continuous cooperation to define clear definitions of enforcement pathways and processes. This needs to be done in a way that does not contradict with the internal bylaws and codes of conduct currently in place, but rather to support them and complement their deficiencies, if any.
In this phase of the process, we would like to invite you to share your ideas, thoughts and concerns about the UCoC implementation, reporting and enforcement pathways using this survey:
Notice: This survey will be conducted via a third-party service, which may subject it to additional terms. For more information on privacy and data-handling, see the survey privacy statement <https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/UCoC_Affiliates_Survey_Privacy_Statement>.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact msalman-ctr@wikimedia.org.

Here is consequent reply:I'm so sorry, but I just don't think editing the English Wikipedia is going to work out for you. You could maybe come back in a year and follow the directions for making an unblock request, which you completely failed to do in the above request, but honestly I think it's time to move on. With profound regards SHISHIR DUA (talk) 16:45, 29 June 2021 (UTC) SHISHER DUA, it is best if you continue to work with the admins who are familiar with your case. Adding another admin, like myself, who is unfamiliar with the entire situation isn't going to help. Coming to an outside admin to interfere in a case isn't a good way to get yourself unblocked. You need to follow the rules and trying to go around them doesn't look good. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 20:43, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

Newspapers.com access is being restored
editYou are receiving this message because our records indicate that you used Newspapers.com via The Wikipedia Library in the past year. Newspapers.com has been affected by a number of technical issues over that time period, which most recently caused it not to work at all. If you aren't already familiar, further details can be found at T322916.
We're pleased to share that we have found a solution which will restore access to Newspapers.com's content! Newspapers.com have agreed to move back to our old method of granting access, whereby users must first register at Newspapers.com, then apply via The Wikipedia Library, and then accounts are upgraded to a subscribing one by Newspapers.com. We have updated Newspapers.com to accept applications in the library, so you can apply now!
This change is unfortunately mutually exclusive with the limited proxy-based access working, so any of the technical workarounds that have been discussed should no longer work, along with any proxy-based access to Newspapers.com. I hope you agree that this brief bump will be worth it in the long run.
As a reminder, this change means that you will need to renew your access on a yearly basis. If you have an email configured in The Wikipedia Library you should receive an email a few weeks before this expiry to remind you to submit an extension request, but brief yearly loss of access may be a side effect of this access method. The good news is that this access method means that you shouldn't encounter any technical problems besides normal operational problems on Newspapers.com's end, which should be few and resolved quickly - otherwise the website should work just as if you were a normal customer.
If you have any questions please ask them at this Meta announcement. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:39, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
