Hi. In the text that you have posten in the Village Pump of the Turkish Wikipedia, you translated "editor" as "editör" to Turkish. But in the Wiki projects, we use "kullanıcı" instead of "editör". I basically changed the word, but an user is insisting about to have your permission and keep reverting my correction. So can you confirm the change? Please ping my user name when you reply so I won't miss it :) Have a great day and thanks for your efforts!--Rapsar (talk) 20:27, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rapsar and Kingbjelica, thanks for your attention to this. As a non-Turkish speaker, I am okay with any edits that will help clarify the meaning of the text. If Rapsar feels that kullanıcı is better, that is fine with me. --ELappen (WMF) (talk) 22:32, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

About Wikimania 2022 introduction page of individual-language version edit

Hi. I've already registered for Wikimania 2022. Thanks for organizing such an event.

But here is a simple question: how did you create The introduction page of Wikimania in Japanese? You looked not to have any knowledge about the Japanese language. If you used a machine-translation, which will be a little uncomfortable for Japanese native speakers, some Japanese Wikipedians might help you to improve the text. Thanks for your cooperation.--Sethemhat (talk) 00:33, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey Sethemhat, we actually used a human translator from the community, but it's possible that when I moved the translation over I created some mistakes. Anyway, if you or other volunteers would like to correct or improve the text, that would be wonderful! When you're done there, I can then ensure that the corresponding page on Diff is also corrected. Thank you so much! --ELappen (WMF) (talk) 01:02, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for being with us at Wikimania 2022!

Dear Elena! Thank you for being with us at the VSN Wikimania trivia session. I hope you had as much fun as we did! And that this barnstar will bring memories of the magical (and tasty!) Wikimania time. It was great being there with you! Thanks so much @Natalia Szafran-Kozakowska (WMPL) and thanks for the barnstar! Can you remind me the name of the site you used for this game? I want to use it in a similar game! ELappen (WMF) (talk) 18:09, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hey @ELappen (WMF)! I have noticed this question just now, apparently it got lost in meta notifications, sorry for that! We used Kahooot, but I also have quite good experiences with AhaSlides. They are both quite flexible in the ways that they can be used, what kind of questions can be created etc. So I recommend both. (I hope this answer is still useful, sorry for the late reply). Okay thank you! So best practice is to leave the old one empty and have the new text in a brand new unit? I truly appreciate all the work you do to keep translation markup clean! ELappen (WMF) (talk) 18:59, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
My general rule of thumb is if the meaning of the sentence changes, it is best to use a new translation unit as erroneous translations can get the wrong message across. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 04:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
