Greetings fellow Wikimedians. I'm currently a Global sysop, Simple English Wikipedia sysop and CheckUser, and I'd like to obtain your consent to gain the meta sysop bit. I intend to use this to develop functions that will help annunciate certain sensitive Global Abuse Filter activations as well as participate in the creation and maintenance of said filters. Additionally, I'd like to help with meta administration (such as requests, blocks, etc) and general opposition to spam as a global effort. As always, I'm available for quick response via IRC. Thank you for your time. Operator873talkconnect 21:47, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support Operator873 would be a strong addition to our metawiki admin team. He has a lot of experience with anti-spam and filters, both areas where his work could be aided with access to the spam blacklist and global filters. He’d be a great help in those areas, and also in anti-vandalism, metawiki-specific clerking and work, etc. Oper knows his stuff, when he doesn’t he knows who to ask, and is generally very trustworthy and responsible. Meets my criteria by far. Thank you for volunteering, Vermont (talk) 21:58, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

- Weak support Although Operator isn't very active on Meta by my opinion (but it is active here and on different projects), it is a trusted user. It declared its candidacy well enough. Contributions are good for Meta too. I just think it's a bit early for regular adminship for now. Good luck. :) --Uncitoyentalk 09:26, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose insufficiently active on Meta I'm afraid. --Herby talk thyme 11:26, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support Alright IMO, although meta space contribution is quite low. Given we will most likely lose some sysops in the next AAR, and we have AAR quite strictly applied, I am still okay with their level of participation. I will just note that meta isn't any other project, so I hope Operator can slowly use the tools and their impact can be large (blacklists, filters etc). I am confident they can perform well given my interactions with them in simple wiki over the past 2 years. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:02, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

- Like Herby, I wonder about your low activity on Meta. Would you say this is maybe due to a lack of access to the "interesting" functions currently? --MF-W 13:36, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hello MF-W. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your question. I typically find myself looking towards global projects for spam and the eradication of spambots. However, lately I've found myself wanting to do more to protect fellow editors from LTAs and doxxing activities. This has led me to the desire to review global filters and create or edit those filters. That being said, I don't want these words to be misconstrued as saying my intent is to niche myself into only working on one or two things. I take the bit seriously and would commit myself to being a very active, fair, balanced, and approachable sysop here on meta as I've been on my home wiki as well as in my global efforts. In short, yes I can see and do understand your concern; but I feel despite my low activity, you'd find me to be a competent and effective sysop. Either way, I thank you for your thoughts and participation here. Operator873talkconnect 15:43, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
