Policies and Guidelines:
CIS-A2K internet request page is the place where the wikimedians can request support for the internet. Any Indian Wikimedian/Indian Language Wikimedian residing in India and is an Indian Citizen may apply for support to obtain/recharge an internet data pack to facilitate their work on various projects, based on the following criteria/guidelines:

  • Please sign in to your Wikimedia account to post your request or comment.
  • The applicant should use the request form/template provided to share a request for internet support and ensure all the required information is provided.
  • The applicant should have completed more than 2000 global edits/100 new articles (not a stub article, around 6000 bytes or 300 words) within the last three months prior to submission of the request. The bot edits will not be counted.
  • A brief contribution plan for the next 3 months is to be submitted.

Community discussion: The applicant’s request needs to be endorsed by three active community members, or one sysop/administrator.

Timing: Please try to make a request 10-15 days before the possibility. If not it will be very difficult for CIS-A2K to support your request. We will try our best to attend to the request ASAP. Once your support is confirmed please give us up to 5-10 working days to extend support.
  • An eligible applicant will receive internet support for a three-month period.
  • The recharge will be provided according to the service and A2K’s budget limit.
  • Once accepted the Applicant is required to submit their standard KYC documents self-signed (PAN & Masked Aadhar) to CIS over email for the official record.
  • The recharge will be done by A2K only.

Lessons and reports: Sharing lessons and experiences from your activities are useful for all of us. Once your proposed activity is done, please take time to document them (preferably on the wiki). CIS-A2K will also be glad to publish them as a blog post under your name and circulate them in our newsletter to the wider Wikimedia community.
  • Applicants may submit another subsequent request for renewal/recharge of their data pack at the end of this period, on the condition that they have contributed another 2000 global edits within this period.
  • Wikimedia Foundation & CIS contractors, grantees, and staff will not be eligible for this support.

Note: Sharing contribution report is mandatory. Failing to submit a narrative/financial report in time may make your next requests/participation in CIS events ineligible.

Cannot be undertaken due to policy

Hello CIS-A2K Team, I am Gill Jassu, a volunteer from Punjabi community. I regularly contribute for Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikidata and Commons. Nowadays i am participating in 100 Wikidays in which i create one article daily. for this i need heavy internet data. currently i am using my own mobile data, but many time i face problems dew to my data pack limit. so i need 3 month internet support so i can continue my work smoothly. During this period, I plan to work on creation of 30 articles related to different fields on Kashmiri Wikipedia. I will also translate the Wikidata Items related to the pages and use this support to make close community relations within Kashmiri Wikipedia community. Dear Nitesh (CIS-A2K), I am using act fiber internet and renewaling every six months. In the new guidelines changed by CIS, they say that the internet period will be given for 3 months only. But Act-Fiber Net has only 1 month, 6 months, 12 months and 24 months plans. There is no three month plan that you give. What to do now..?

I am one of the most active users in Punjabi Community. Currently I am serving as an admin on Punjabi Wikipedia. My work include petrolling new articles, editing exiting and creating new articles, deleting articles (if needed) and I also rectify templates. Besides Wikipedia I often work on Punjabi Wikisource. On Wikisource I usually work on Audiobooks segment. On commons I upload audio stories and link them with Wikisource text. I regularly attend community online meetings as well.   • Our community mrwikisource is a small and emerging community. All of our active members are not aware of larger processes and activities.
  • Many of them are still new and yet to know basic pages like village pump and how to use them.
  • This may take a while to spread a word about how CIS-A2k internet support/technical support requests are processed with new policies. You should take some initiatives to make communities like us to be aware of such processes.
  • So until they are aware of all these how one can expect a active discussion of any sort on the requests?
  • Here only those who are making any applications will read and get to know about the process but involvement of others is a larger community issue. thanks
