CIS-A2K request page is a place where the Wikimedians can request support to the community event or activities, inspanidual support (enabling participation), technical support, swag request, outreach support. Please sign in to your Wikimedia account to post or comment.

Community discussion: Please discuss the request with your community members (on your respective Indic Wikimedia project village pumps and mailing lists) before placing a request.

Timing: Please try to make a request 10-15 days before the event. If not it will be very difficult for CIS-A2K to support your request. We try our best to attend the request ASAP. Once your support is confirmed please give us up to 5-10 working days to extend support.

Lessons and reports: Sharing lessons and experiences from your community events and activities are useful for all of us. Once your proposed activity is done, please take time to document them (preferably on wiki). CIS-A2K will also be glad to publish them as a blog-post under your name and circulate them in our newsletter to the wider Wikimedia community.

Note: Sharing event report is mandatory. Failing to submit narrative/financial report in time may make your next requests/participation in CIS events ineligible.

Hi! CIS team! I know CIS can't give individual hardware help. But I think CIS can give intellectual help. As a small community, how can I fulfill my scanning devide's needs? I want to develop Portal:Yoga in sa.wikipedia. I need some reference books time to time. I can't buy or can't borrow it for a long. CIS team is expert in helping with grant, drafing and other rules. I hope CIS team will help to grow a small comminity. I have written 8k+ A4 size pages in wiki. Translations are not counted. But suffering to contribution. Your internet support also being wasted.   • Why this event or project?

Kannada Wikimedia communities meetup: There has been no physical meetups, workshops, trainings happened from last two-three years due to various reasons like COVID etc. This has affected Kannada community and there is a kind of downtrend in many Kannada Wikimedia projects editing. And also community development, outreach process has been affected a lot. So, to bring the enthusiastic environment among the community a physical meet up would help. Physical interactions with each other and exchange of ideas, plans and to learn from each other will rejuvenate Kannada community development process. Various other Wiki projects in Kannada have come to a stand still could also to be addressed by sharing knowledge with new community members.

Physical meetups are always better methods for effective human interactions. Conducting various activities around Wikimedia environment will boost up the interest of community. So, for this, the main approach is to conduct physical meetup and invite all old and new community members. Next, will be arranging interactions to share knowledge, ideas, using experieces for community growth and quality improvement of Kannada Wiki projects. Activities like quiz competitions, talks, question and anwer sessions to create a joyful and intellectual environment.

  • Knowledge sharing sessions about various aspects related to Wiki movement and content addition to Wikimedia projects.

  • Wikimedia Quiz Competition to engage students,
  • Hands-on activities.
  • Strategey planning for community development,
  • Rejuvenating Kannada Wiki projects.

  • How the implementation will be done?

This event will be attended by individual editors from all Kannada Wiki projects. Many user groups and associations like Karavali Wikimedians, Alvas Wiki Students Associaltion, Wikipedia Student Association, Udupi, WikiWomen/Mangaluru will participate in this. Colleage professors, language and Kannada computing technology experts have been invited as guests and resource persons. Its a collaborative event of all who are working for free knowledge.

  • What are the expected output and impact?

Total participants expected is 60 as per the capacity planning of the event. Already 53 people (as of now) have registered for the event on event page. It's a gettogether of many newcomers and old editors. This event is targetted to re-mobilize Kannada Wiki movement and focussed about rejuvenating many Wiki Kannada projects like Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wiktionary etc and ofcourse more quality content addition on Kannada wikipedia, Commons and Wikidata. A post event collaborative and individual target acitivites will be planned for content addition and uploads. Follow up events will be planned to keep up the mobility.

As an impact of this meet up, editors who are continuously contributing to Kannada Wiki projects will be appreciated and participants will get encouragement to work in different projects of Kannada Wikimedia. Participants will get information, knowledge and learning about Wiki projects, so that they can edit independently and continuously. Metrics expected to be approximately 200+ in terms of articles, file uploads etc in different projects with sustainability as a result of this meetup.

For this event, as a custom of motivation, we request following swag/promotional materials for participants as part of event.

    2. M Size, Kannada round neck: 10 numbers
    3. L size, English with collar: 17 numbers
    4. XL size, English with collar: 3 numbers
