Meta:Patrollers

Hello,
I translate pages (from English to French). Can I get the translation tool for this page ? I believe that only translation administrators can designate which pages to translate. Thanks  . Rome2 (talk) 12:03, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

I have fixed the mark-up and marked the page for translation. It is translatable now. :-) --Vogone (talk) 12:57, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Meta:CheckUsers

Hello, Sorry it's me again  . Can I get the translation tool for this page ? It will be everything normally  . Still sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks  . Rome2 (talk) 13:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi @Rome2:, you don't need an admin to set up the translation markup (see example in Special:Diff/18441439 for your other request). Once the page is marked up, at that point any of the translation admins can hit the "go" button for enabling it. The directions at Translation_requests#How_to_request_a_translation can help you. Feel free to ping here when it is ready to have the button pushed. — xaosflux Talk 13:50, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Hello @Xaosflux:
I didn't see this page for translations. I modified taking into consideration your remarks and Vogone's diff. Thank you for your help  .
Rome2 (talk) 15:19, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
It is not properly marked, yet. For instance, a <languages /> tag should be added to the top of the page, section titles should be separated (can be achieved by adding an empty line right above and below a section title), long lists in one translate section should be avoided, internal links should make use of {{ll}}, and static content like user lists not be added to a translatable section. There is documentation available at mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_administration, if needed. I currently don't have the time to fix these issues, but if nobody shows up willing to do this I can do it tomorrow or so. --Vogone (talk) 15:30, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
I tried  . I hope I havn't made too many errors. Thank you for the information  . Rome2 (talk) 16:23, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Page is marked for translation now. --Vogone (talk) 21:30, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Visibility ?!

Hello everybody,
First, excuse me for my low level of English and possible mistakes. I'm asking my question here because everything is part of this wiki and my question is arduous. Moreover, I only realize it now. I have no visibility on a search engine (Google for example) with my true identity. But my Eihel or eihel ID is visible. When I was only on frwiki, I did this check and I was not. Now that I'm on Meta-Wiki to unify my iw user page, I have several answers on Google. Visibility can be found on the following wiki: fr.wiktionary.org, meta.wikimedia.org, ht.wikipedia.org, mediawiki.org, fr.wikiscan.org. I would like to continue not to be visible without changing the other wikis that have my Meta user page. As a robots.txt file, I found _noindex_, but it doesn't work. As I would like to continue not to be visible (even for eihel) would any intelligent user have an answer ? I read French better. Thank you in advance. Best regards. {{ping|Notify me to come here.}} --Eihel (talk) 13:42, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello @Eihel:. Using __NOINDEX here on metawiki should request Google to stop indexing this page, and will also request it to not be indexed on other projects. If you want it to be indexed on other projects (such as w:ht:Itilizatè:Eihel) and only not this one, you can use <noinclude>__NOINDEX__</noinclude> here. — xaosflux Talk 13:49, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
You can read details at en:Wikipedia:Controlling_search_engine_indexing: in English Wikipedia the whole user namespace is excluded from the indexing. In other projects you need to use __NOINDEX__ and wait for some time before Google's cache becomes obsolete. Ruslik (talk) 14:14, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Hello @Xaosflux and Ruslik0:, I wrote that it did not work with __NOINDEX__ (marked like that or as you indicate Xaosflux). I inserted this code at the beginning of my META user page, then I purged. Then on Google, always the same result (even leaving 30 minutes). You can check my UP and do the test yourself (I will not make you any problem) : Eihel is always visible. I did not understand something? Or would anyone else have an idea? (enwiki is not visible on Google with META UP). Cordially. --Eihel (talk) 14:33, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
@Eihel: you added that about three hours ago, Google will need time to purge it from their index. — xaosflux Talk 14:44, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
@Xaosflux and Ruslik0: Ah! I just got it. Google took pages from September 15th and other dates to give me answers. I'll get back to you in a while if it did not work. Thank you for your answers. You are champions (re-ping) @Xaosflux and Ruslik0: --Eihel (talk) 15:02, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Vandal on Meta

ChiveFungi (talk · contribs) is being harassed on various projects (presumably by a English Wikipedia sockmaster) and has expressed confusion on how to report the vandals. See en:WP:ANI#Somebody's harassing me on French Wikipedia? and fr:WP:RA#Harassment from French Wikipedia. This account is the second one since 1Granddrip (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • GUC • CA) (on French Wikipedia). Crockmaris needs to be blocked here on Meta. I don't know if there's much a steward can do, but maybe someone could look into a global block to stop this cross-wiki harassment? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:55, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Such a comment may be inappropriate, however, a single comment doesn't seem to be a blockable offence. I have left a message for the user expressing my opinion on their approach here being unsuitable. If you believe that there is continuing, ongoing harassment then it would be worthwhile talking to the stewards at SRG.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:28, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Protection request on en.wiki

Hi guys, over on en:Wikipedia:Requests for page protection we have had a request to semi-protect Proposals_for_closing_projects/Closure_of_Kwanyama_Wikipedia due to an edit war around repeatedly removing and reinstating what has been described as a racist comment (note the comment in question has been there for 11 years). Looking at the history I don't think it's an active proposal so perhaps it could just be protected, but I am not a sysop on Meta, so I hope someone here can attend to this. Thanks, Fish and karate (talk) 08:49, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

I think Yilangren and L293D should explain why they are edit warring over this instead of discussing it. Additionally, Yilangren should explain why they haven't reached out to Ooswesthoesbes regarding these seemingly harmless comments made 11 years ago. Nihlus 10:09, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
It should be restored to how it was when the proposal was archived/closed. Vermont (talk) 10:15, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
MF-Warburg fully protected the page, using the version that existed before the edit war started. StevenJ81 (talk) 22:52, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

User:Major H. Ivan is blocked at en.wiki as an impersonator (he's pretending to be his school principal) and is a clear sock of the blocked User:Flasty Jam.
