  • Personal info: I have been a Wikimedian since 2008 and a steward since 2014. On top of that, I am or have been active in various other areas around Wikimedia, most notably by working on Wikidata and by doing various tech things (user scripts, MediaWiki extensions, ...).

Besides my volunteer activities, I'm employed by Wikimedia Germany as software developer for Wikidata.

After reduced activity in the second half of 2020, I will increase my activity again. I plan to continue helping out with both on wiki work and by tackling steward related technical issues. Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 22:39, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Comments about Hoo manEdit

  •   Remove - entirely absent from May to January, that's most of the year and is not active enough to retain stewardship. Rschen7754 14:04, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    • I find the comments below bizarre. Hoo man's activity has been on the low side for several years, and they had Wikidata and Meta administrator rights removed earlier this year for inactivity. I don't really care whether he was on IRC or not (I don't go on IRC much anymore so I don't know) - the main purpose of being a steward is using the tools. --Rschen7754 01:54, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
      • Personally, I think being a steward is more than just using the tools. I'm also happy to give anyone a pass on being inactive because just about everyone had a disastrous IRL this year, and that's okay. Legoktm (talk) 06:12, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
        • I have to push back on this trope, because it promotes the notion that being a steward is a status symbol, which is against how Wikimedia works. I'm not opposed to breaks during the year (I even took one myself), but when you spend 2/3 of your term almost inactive and the remaining 1/3 with a few spambot multilocks a month, that's a problem. --Rschen7754 06:24, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
          • I meant there are plenty of other things stewards do besides just performing logged actions (how I interpreted "using the tools"). Legoktm (talk) 11:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  •   Keep Still acceptable as I seen them here and there, but this is a weak keep. If confirmed I hope you will be more active this year on. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:12, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Question Hi, the discussion at Requests for comment/Site-wide administrator abuse and WP:PILLARS violations on the Croatian Wikipedia has been pending a close for the entirety of the last term, and has not had any Steward significantly discuss with the participants its status, despite a couple of requests and the more recent passing of the meta-rfc policy. Could you explain why a) you and b) the Stewards as a whole, failed to close (and, as applicable, execute, it)? As a connected point to the most likely answers (too complicated, insufficiently clear remedies, not in remit, etc) could you clarify both why it/they apply but also why you/the Stewards didn't make that known to every participant and ask for specific actions taken to make it possible for the Stewards to act on it, despite the insane timescale? •   Remove per Rschen7754 - I appreciate 2020 was a tough year for everyone but taking half a year away is unacceptable. User could also re-vnaish again. –Davey2010Talk 20:57, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  •   Keep After reviewing some of the comments here not in favor, I think I'm going to err on the side of assuming good faith and take them at their word that they'll bring activity in 2021. Last year was difficult for a lot of people and to write off COVID as an inexcusable reason for reduced activity is not assuming good faith, if it weren't for that I'd probably agree with removal, but these are unprecedented times. --Charitwo (talk) 19:22, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
