Any active Indian language Wikimedian can apply for this support to purchase required IT accessories and gadgets like computer accessories, voice recorders, mics etc., which would aid in further enhancing their contribution to the free and open knowledge content across Wikimedia platforms. Interested applicants are requested to go through the following guidelines before making an application:

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible for this allowance.
  • Please sign in to your Wikimedia account to post your request.
  • The applicant should have completed 10,000 global edits, of which at least 2000 edits should have been completed in the three months prior to the application.
  • The applicant will receive this allowance only once in their lifetime.

    The applicant should first seek the support of his/her respective Wikimedia on the respective project village pump. At least 5 active community members should support the Applicant’s request. The Applicant may then place a request for the IT allowance section of the CIS-A2K request page with a link to the discussion on the village pump.

    The request must be submitted at least 20 days in advance. CIS-A2K needs a minimum of 15 working days to process the request.
  • Once approved, the successful recipient needs to sign an Agreement with CIS-A2K.
  • INR 10,000/- is the maximum amount of IT Allowance that could be provided.
  • The successful recipient should share their KYC details & documents (such as self-signed PAN & Masked Aaadhaar) along with Bank Account details with CIS over email for the official record.
  • Wikimedia Foundation employees or contractors or grantees and CIS contractors or staff will not be eligible for this support.

Chromebook repair support edit

Hi! CIS Team, I got a Chromebook under the Tiger project Hardware support. my Chromebook's a hinge and body broken 2 years ago, but now both hinge broken so I visited care center to repair but it's parts is not available. repair not possible then, working Too slow to operate, even can't possible to carry in event, i'm not using that one right now. And I use my Phone to editing but Phone also tried to editing because it's too old (6 years old)I active online and offline to organise edit-thon, events, globally every day edit and fight against vandalism as a global rollbacker. if CIS team help me to guide or provide chrome parts that would be better, Suggest me How I can carry on contributing to Wikimedia.Hope you You will solve my problem.-Thank You! -J. Sorry, to talk between. Same problem. Administrative work can't be done. Can't use - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser. Chromebook has been not working for 1 year only. Google drive 100 gb expired and many scanned books had to shift. Under review. Small community can't get scanner etc. It seems it is only for big communities or user groups. @NehalDaveND, when my personal laptop got accidentally damaged. CIS did help me in getting in repaired. If you need a scanner, the best place for you to ask is your affiliate user group. I'm sure CIS will provide with one if the group hasn't already received it. CIS doesn't provide each and every support on individual basis. I feel you should try connecting with @Nizil Shah and @Gazal world and seek their opinions. You guys should try to establish an affiliate user-group trying to focus on Gujarati language projects. @TheAafi One situation for you. Think you don't have laptop. I got laptop by help of CIS. Anyhow we decided that you can take for few days and return. I give you commitment come to my place 50 km from your home. But when you come to my place, I tell you go back, I am out. And this is not once, every time, next week, after two days etc I give you excuses. On call I give you answer that I have finished my bit work and I can give you at this date for few days (I decided and you agreed on my word or terms). You agreed every word of mine. But at the end you get excuses. When you complain, I give you and to all answer that I have lots of work to do and I can't give you it for long time and so I denied and so on. "Yes, I can give you on XY date" this has changed with "I have so many work to do" in front of every one. Most beautiful thing is - last time I personally told you that - "no need to write in wikipedia before that call me and we decide the date." After this complain - "Don't call me. If you want it, write on wiki and come to my place and deliver after finish." Means indirect NO. You can't call me, so how can you come to my place? I miss lead others that I have many work etc, all members are asking you different question and they make you guilty as you are asking help so you have to wait or bare like slave. (They don't know that I agreed to give and दिनांक की बोल फेंक कर पपी को भागाना happed to you.) In this situation you are guilty and you don't know wiki-behavior. Moreover, CIS is not the place to discuss this. I only asked for help to make some solution and some intellectual help, which you or other may have. Thanks for your advice. He recently participated in the Deoband Yoruba Collaborative Project and gained first position. He requested for a mobile phone on DCW's talk page.   • What is proposed under IT Allowance?

I am requesting for audio recording device (voice recorder) and a collar microphone (collar mic). Please add the pouch if allowed - pouch

  • What is the expected output?

Audios of Telugu literary personalities, Wikipedians and public. The audio can be an interview of the personality or the personality speaking good will for Telugu Wikipedia. If any singing performance, or poetry reading is captured, permission from the reader would be collected provided it is their personal work or if the content is not under copyright.

  • How the support will help you to enhance your contribution?

My recordings on phone have been noisy and I hope this device would reduce the noises.

  • What is the estimated budget for the proposed support?

I have got a laptop in Hardware Donation Program (that project runs with zero budget), but the laptop battery is not working properly, it is working on direct charging mode since day one. The laptop has stopped working and I can't carry it anywhere. Due to some personal reasons, I am not able to buy this apple laptop battery, as it is too expensive for me. For this I am asking for help from CIS-A2K. If the CIS-A2K provides me with a battery for my laptop so that I can continue with my projects and other daily activities. -J.
