Welcome to Meta!Edit

Hello Superyetkin!, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Happy editing! — Mikhailov Kusserow (talk) 10:14, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Range blockEdit

Hello. My bot is using a static IP address falling in the range (173.254.0.0/17) you blocked two days ago. Is there any chance you can create an exception or narrow the affected range? Thanks. --Superyetkin (talk) 16:21, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

I change the block to affect nonregistered users only. So Your bot should be able to run now. I the problem still persist please leave me a message masti <talk> 18:53, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Tech ambassadors, "take two"Edit

Hello tech ambassador! This month has seen a good influx of new faces in this crew \o/ , so it is time to reactivate our conversations. Now that we have a pretty good coverage of so many different projects, here are some topics for your consideration.

  1. Are there further thoughts on the role itself? I hope the questions available on Meta can help spark them. Please weigh in at Talk:Tech/Ambassadors/List#Tech ambassadors, take 2.
  2. How about we try and organise future collective work in a Phabricator workboard? Talk:Tech/Ambassadors/List#A Phab workboard for us? has all the details to explore this proposal.
  3. Finally, you are also welcome to comment at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T177923, should you happen to have suggestions for the Community Liaisons team, currently wondering how to measure "Wiki projects requesting beta features and other early deployments".

We hope to be able to host a live discussion in early 2018; until then, we're looking forward to hearing from you on Meta! All the best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk), on behalf of the Community Liaisons

Getting started on PhabricatorEdit

Greetings, ambassador!

As recently discussed within this group, we are ready to experiment with setting up a project and its related workboard on Phabricator, the platform used in the Wikimedia movement for project management, software bug reporting and feature requests. It will help us coordinate and cooperate better on projects that should require ambassadors' involvement.

For the time being, I'm just asking that you please add your Phabricator nickname next to your name in the ambassadors' table (you can create an account now if you don't have one already). I will send you further information soon! Thanks for your patience as we get to the operational stage of this effort :) Best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 15:02, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

New Tech Ambassadors Phabricator boardEdit

Hello!

You have listed yourself as an active Tech Ambassador, thank you for that!

We have recently set up a board on Phabricator so that you can learn about tasks and updates that are potentially interesting for your community, and take action when necessary. During the pilot phase we are currently in, to avoid confusion, only Wikimedia Foundation's Community Liaisons will mark tasks so that they end up in the various columns. Thanks for your understanding!

Please follow this Phabricator board (learn how to). You'll receive "notifications" for updates in all tasks listed there. In case you choose to receive them as email; we currently expect the volume to be fairly low, but in any case you can learn how to manage it.

If you have any feedback about this board, please leave your questions and comments on the Ambassadors talk page.

All the best, Trizek (WMF) (talk) 13:03, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

--Sarv (talk) 16:13, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

AutopatrolEdit

Hi, Xaosflux had granted you autopatrol rights. With this, you can now tag userpage for spam (a filter is bypassed). Thanks for contributions. --Cohaf (talk) 15:28, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

That will surely help. Thanks and regards. --Superyetkin (talk) 15:54, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Vikipedi'deki Türkiye EngellemesiEdit

Beni beyaz listeye ekleyebilir misin? Ben Vikipedi'de bayadır ziyaret edemedim bu yüzden bana erişebileceğini düşünüyorum. Eğer bunu yaparsan memnun kalırım.

Baris6161TURK (talk) 16:20, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Türkçe Vikipedi'deki IP engelleme muafiyetiniz tanımlanmıştır. İyi çalışmalar. --Superyetkin (talk) 17:18, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Closure proposal on Turkish WikinewsEdit

Hello. I saw your task (phab:T247330) about wanting to close/lock Turkish Wikinews as the result of the discussion at Turkish Wikipedia, started by User:Nanahuatl. Have you thought about creating "Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Turkish Wikinews". Instructions can be read at "Proposals for closing projects". You can ask me (or anyone else) for help if you want. --George Ho (talk) 10:56, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Just in case, pinging User:Seksen iki yüz kırk beş, User:Khutuck, User:Ravages, User:Maurice Flesier, User:Sabri76, User:Chansey, User:LuCKY if they want to re-propose hard-closure at Meta-wiki. George Ho (talk) 11:43, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Block in trwikiEdit

Hello, I'm Ahmet Turhan from Turkish Wikipedia. I have been contributing to Turkish Wikipedia for about 6 years. In this process, I have contributed more than 60,000. created more than 1000 article, 8 featured article (5 in progress), 3 good article (3 in progress). Plus I formulated and joined a lot of Wikipedia projects. I have also written Wikipedia essays, information pages and guidelines based on my own experiences on Wikipedia, which I have contributed for years. There were still articles and projects I worked with. Therefore, I think I know Wikipedia policies and guidelines. There are all my contribution.

Today, I was unfairly blocked by User:Mskyrider for 5 years. The background of the subject is as follows;

I have been contributing to the articles about the Soviet Union as a hobby for years in Wikipedia. At the beginning of 2017, I created a comprehensive complaint content that I was intensely attacked by a user named User:Maurice Flesier. It can be seen here. The content of this complaint was: insist on personal comments, harassment in the summary of changes, personal insults on the discussion pages of various articles, etc. Since then, the whole community has known its problem with me. For this reason, he has received often warnings and blocked. It can be seen here. A discussion with this user started again yesterday in article tr:Diktatör. He put the images of Hitler and Stalin in the article, and I reverse it by telling it to be discussed first by en:WP:BRD. And I wrote my reason on the discussion page. It was that: "Direct identification has been made, Such definitions should not be made from Wikipedia. Let the reader decide." Then he became aggressive and wrote the following comment on the article's discussion page: "Keep your bullshit trials for yourself and try to be a little neutral. In the meantime, take a look at how the tracking works Mskyrider." Just after, Maurice Flesier reported that I am not neutral, and therefore I should be stopped.

On the other hand, there were smear attempts of Mskyrider again for myself. It can be seen here. The majority of the community said that he was wrong here. Since then, I think he has hostility towards me. While doing this, I argue that he used his administrator power.

Due to these harassment and controversy, the fetured topics and articles I tried to create on Wikipedia have stopped. (here all of this).

As a user who has given my years to Wikipedia, I know that this barrier has been given unfairly, and that the community deserves me in such discussions. I see that Mskyrider has been blocking me for 5 years with his grudge against me. I request re-thinking his administrative qualifications with the community, the decision of the obstacle given to me be consulted by the community, discussion with other administrator and unblocking.

I wrote it here because I can't even change my own message page because of the ban type. --Ahmet Turhan (talk) 18:10, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Block on trwikiEdit

Now that the reasoning is clear, I'd like to ask how exactly my username was inappropriate. I've read a Google-translated version of the username policy on trwiki you had linked in the block summary, and I couldn't find any rule my username violates. Thanks! 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 19:01, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello. We do not allow usernames with random ordering (in your case, the (repeating) character series "qwer" look random). Regards. --Superyetkin (talk) 17:47, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
As far as I understood from en:Turkish language#Turkish computer keyboard, Turkish also uses the QWERTY layout. How is that random then? Also, would you block tr:Kullanıcı:JJMC89, tr:Kullanıcı:J947, and even tr:Kullanıcı:DannyS712 due to "random" characters? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 18:23, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Any comments on what makes those usernames different? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 12:49, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

As far as I can see, these examples do not match the repetition criterion. Another sysop may look into this matter. Regards. --Superyetkin (talk) 14:52, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

On Turkish Wikipedia, the rules are generally applied according to the Turkish language. Your username fits the part where the letters and numbers are written at random in our policy (eg: 12345asdf12345, asdf12345). Usernames similar to your username have been blocked by different admins. I even look at the meanings of global users in their own language that cause complaints in some blocking requests on Turkish Wikipedia. In this way, there were users that I didn't block them. I would like to Superyetkin unblock you, but this would be unfair to other blocked users. --Uncitoyentalk 15:30, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
@Uncitoyen: I find "random" pretty vague personally. I mean, this is not a big issue, because I don't speak Turkish anyway and would probably not edit Turkish Wikipedia that often, but I am a bit interested in my only block on WMF projects (though I had been blocked on alswiki multiple years ago). 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 15:39, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
I agree with you. We, as admins, block the random names through ourselves and other users' attentions. You are right in your worries yourself. Even if my username is blocked, I would do the same searches. I have made an assessment of our policy. Maybe this discussion would be better, if other admins may have voiced their opinions. --Uncitoyentalk 15:59, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
