Re: There is a difference between the German original and the English textEdit

Hello, thanks for looking into it. The text comes from the PDF publication that I also copied to Commons as File:Free Knowledge based on Creative Commons Licenses.pdf, or at least it should. To save time I actually took the wikitext from the wmse: copy, are there mistakes? --Nemo 14:29, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Nemo,
The original Point 16 ist missing - what is correct, since this is some special German stuff. But the text in Point 19 after

Up until 2009 the Wikipedia was using the
GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) by
the GNU initiative. The Free Software Foun-
dation had originally developed this license for
software documentation, hence it was too com-
plicated and not ideally suited for Wikipedia.

beginning with

Nonetheless, the GFDL open content licenses
did not have to be abandoned when Wikipedia
was transitioning to a CC-BY-SA license.

from the English is missing. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 14:49, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Wonderful, you're already done with the import! Thank you very much. I didn't know about point 16 of course, should something be done about it?
I've fixed 19 now, I had cut too much by mistake. I left out the quotation from the terms of use to avoid redundancy, and instead created and anchor to link that paragraph directly. Is it ok now? --Nemo 15:17, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, that's better. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 18:40, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Translation requestEdit

Greetings. I see you have experience translating pages here at Meta. If you are willing and able, Wikimedia LGBT, a proposed user group, is currently recruiting people to assist with page translations. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you for your consideration. --Another Believer (talk) 16:47, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Rosetta barnstarEdit

  The Meta-Wiki Rosetta barnstar 2013
For being among the top 40 Meta-Wiki translators in 2013, with over 500 translation units edits! If I knew all the Wikimedia languages I'd also compliment you for how spot-on your translations are, but I must leave that to your language colleagues. :) Cheers, Nemo 21:48, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. This makes me happy! --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 10:21, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Jahresplan 2015 - dankeEdit

Danke übrigens für deine vielen Fragen und vor allem, dass du auch konkret nach meßgrößen gefragt hast! ...Sicherlich Post 23:20, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

@Sicherlich:  Thank you very much! für das Danke.
...Sicherlich Post 22:55, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!Edit

Dear translator, the Community Liaisons would like to thank you for your interest in the recent 2nd VisualEditor Translathon. The initiative was really successful and we hope to see you sign up for the next one as well! If you're looking for a new opportunity to translate VE-related content, please join translators working on the August's issue of the VisualEditor multilingual newsletter, which will be widely delivered at the end of this workweek. Among other things, this month it features the names of the top contributors for the Translathon. Again, thanks a lot for your help! —Elitre (WMF) and Trizek (WMF), 15:50, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

PS: Here are some instructions. Please go to the translation page: your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones.
PPS: We are maintaining a list of editors who have worked on VE-related content (such as newsletters). We only use it to notify them of translation opportunities, to make sure they don't miss Translathons, etc. If you would like messages like this one to be delivered on your talk page at a different WMF project, need any help with translations related to VisualEditor or would like to remove your name from that list, please contact Elitre directly.

Last call for WMF grants feedback!Edit

Hi, this is a reminder that the consultation about Reimagining WMF grants is closing on 8 September (0:00 UTC). We encourage you to complete the survey now, if you haven't yet done so, so that we can include your ideas.

With thanks,

I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, Wikimedia Foundation.

Thank you!Edit

I am so grateful to find translations done of some of the strategy content. Thank you so very much for helping with that and with all the translation work you do. It's so very important to helping make sure our movement truly is international. :) --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 13:29, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

And now a requestEdit

I'm very sorry to say that there seems to have been a mistake on Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Communities, as a result of which the first two approaches were inadvertently copied from Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Reach. :( I've copied over the first two bullets you translated to the Reach template, so the translations are still very usable, but I'm hoping that you can help fix the first two bullets in the communities template now that the mistake has been detected and repaired. I do greatly apologize for this mistake, and, again, I thank you for your help. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 14:30, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

You are welcome. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 14:34, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Inspire Campaign on content curation & reviewEdit

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Should FuzzyBot remove all potentially outdated translations?Edit

Hello, thanks for adding multiple new translations in your language here at Meta-Wiki in recent years. Please join the discussion with your opinion: Should FuzzyBot automatically remove all potentially outdated translations?. Nemo (talk) 12:00, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Participate in the Inspire Campaign and help address harassment!Edit

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:47, 31 May 2016 (UTC) (Opt-out instructions)

FDCEdit

Hallo Sebastian; ich bereite gerade einen Kurier-Artikel vor, in dem ich die Empfehlungen des FDC zu den Anträgen von WMAT, WMCH und WMDE kurz darstellen möchte. Daher besten Dank für deine Übersetzung der Ausführungen zu WMDE! Sie scheint mir allerdings stellenweise noch etwas verbesserungswürdig. So übersetzt du "However, WMDE has ample organisational capacity to design and implement its programs and activities. Thus the FDC expects a plan with more granular detail and more challenging programmatic targets in future applications" folgendermassen: "WMDE verfügt über umfangreiche organisatorische Fähigkeiten, um seine Programme und Aktivitäten zu entwerfen und umzusetzen.

Ready for translation: Editing News #1—2018Edit

Hi! This is an invitation to join translators working on the upcoming issue of the multilingual newsletter for the visual editor, which will be widely delivered when it's end of Friday in Central Europe. Thanks in advance for your help with this: getting to interact with fellows so skilled like the translators are is among my favorite things about my job :) Best, Elitre (WMF) 10:29, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

PS: Here are some instructions. Please go to the translation page: your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones. Please let us know about difficulties you experience with the translation memory system.

Punkt vergessenEdit

Hi, in User:Sebastian Wallroth/global.css vor der ersten Zeile fehlt noch ein Punkt, aber sonst schon ganz gut. Die #ca-edit, #ca-ve-edit, #ca-history,#ca-addsection wären eigentlich display:inline und nicht block, aber für 13 Stunden wird es langen. svg müsste mit transparent gehen, vermute ich. LG --PerfektesChaos (talk) 09:52, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Please translate the Editing newsletterEdit

Would you please translate VisualEditor/Newsletter/2019/July into your favorite language for me? I'd really appreciate it. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 17:30, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
