Re: There is a difference between the German original and the English text edit

Hello, thanks for looking into it. The text comes from the PDF publication that I also copied to Commons as File:Free Knowledge based on Creative Commons Licenses.pdf, or at least it should. To save time I actually took the wikitext from the wmse: copy, are there mistakes? --Nemo 14:29, 10 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nemo,
The original Point 16 ist missing - what is correct, since this is some special German stuff. But the text in Point 19 after

Wonderful, you're already done with the import! Thank you very much. I didn't know about point 16 of course, should something be done about it?
I've fixed 19 now, I had cut too much by mistake. I left out the quotation from the terms of use to avoid redundancy, and instead created and anchor to link that paragraph directly. Is it ok now? --Nemo 15:17, 10 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, that's better. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 18:40, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Jahresplan 2015 - danke edit

...Sicherlich Post 23:20, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Sicherlich:  Thank you very much! für das Danke.
...Sicherlich Post 22:55, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear translator, the Community Liaisons would like to thank you for your interest in the recent 2nd VisualEditor Translathon. The initiative was really successful and we hope to see you sign up for the next one as well! If you're looking for a new opportunity to translate VE-related content, please join translators working on the August's issue of the VisualEditor multilingual newsletter, which will be widely delivered at the end of this workweek. Among other things, this month it features the names of the top contributors for the Translathon. Again, thanks a lot for your help! —Elitre (WMF) and Trizek (WMF), 15:50, 10 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

PS: Here are some instructions. Please go to the translation page: your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones.
PPS: We are maintaining a list of editors who have worked on VE-related content (such as newsletters). We only use it to notify them of translation opportunities, to make sure they don't miss Translathons, etc. If you would like messages like this one to be delivered on your talk page at a different WMF project, need any help with translations related to VisualEditor or would like to remove your name from that list, please contact Elitre directly.

And now a request edit

I'm very sorry to say that there seems to have been a mistake on Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Communities, as a result of which the first two approaches were inadvertently copied from Template:StrategyButton2016/editintro/Reach. :( I've copied over the first two bullets you translated to the Reach template, so the translations are still very usable, but I'm hoping that you can help fix the first two bullets in the communities template now that the mistake has been detected and repaired. Inspire Campaign on content curation & review edit

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Should FuzzyBot remove all potentially outdated translations? edit

Hello, thanks for adding multiple new translations in your language here at Meta-Wiki in recent years. Please join the discussion with your opinion: Should FuzzyBot automatically remove all potentially outdated translations?. Nemo (talk) 12:00, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:47, 31 May 2016 (UTC) (Opt-out instructions)Reply

FDC edit

So übersetzt du "However, WMDE has ample organisational capacity to design and implement its programs and activities. Thus the FDC expects a plan with more granular detail and more challenging programmatic targets in future applications" folgendermassen: "WMDE verfügt über umfangreiche organisatorische Fähigkeiten, um seine Programme und Aktivitäten zu entwerfen und umzusetzen.

Monuments Calendar 2014/2015 edit

Is the calendar available anywhere? Monuments of Poland 2015 ISBN 9781325047918 ISBN 9781325047901 I am asking, because one of the photos was taken by me. I got some postcards with this photo, but I was not informed that a calendar was released. I collect all printed media with photos taken by myself and I got no author's copy.

Hi User:Abrimaal these calendars are printed on demand. They are automatically updated every year. Just search for "monuments of poland calendar" at amazon.com --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 21:14, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I bought one at online shop, but I should not buy it. Authors of each of the used photos should get a free copy, shouldn't they? Abrimaal (talk) 23:58, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Abrimaal, I get 1 Euro per sold calendar (less is not possible). Last year ~7 Monuments of Poland calendars where sold. This means, I cant even buy one of the calendars for myself from the money I get. Sorry, I cannot effort to buy a calendar for every photographer. Kind regards, --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 07:34, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Try using different pictures every year. Every year I release a calendar with photos taken by myself. Started in 2016 with 20 copies, 2017 - 50, 2018 and 2019 - 100, for 2020 500 copies were printed. What images did not go into the calendar, I uploaded to Commons for Monuments 2019 contest. And I also do not make money on these calendars, because the editions are financed by third parties, I get only a few copies to share among friends. Thanks anyway for releasing this calendar. Abrimaal (talk) 06:06, 5 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Abrimaal, the On-Demand printing service https://calvendo.com says no to yearly updated calendars. Clavando automatically updates the calendar tables every year but doesn't like updated photos. My original intention was to create a calendar for every country that participated in Wiki Loves Monuments eversince, but even this was not possible. The advantages of https://calvendo.com are: they promote the calendars on several platforms including Amazon and they don't request any financial investment from me. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 11:04, 5 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Community Wishlist Survey 2020 edit

Hello!

You are getting this message because you've previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey, in either the Wikisource or Wiktionary categories. I wanted to let you know that this year's survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until November 11. Unlike previous years, we are only accepting proposals for non-Wikipedia content projects with no dedicated teams (i.e., Wikibooks, Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikiversity, Wikispecies, Wikivoyage, and Wikinews). You can learn more on the survey page.

You can vote on proposals from November 20 to December 2. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won't send out a separate reminder to you about that. We look forward to your participation. Thank you! IFried (WMF) (talk) 18:52, 22 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Call For Volunteer Facilitators Across Africa edit

The African Narrative

Dear Wikimedian,

The Africa Narrative is seeking volunteer facilitators in Egypt (two volunteers) and Senegal (two volunteers) for the AfroCreatives Wikiproject.

The AfroCreatives Wikiproject aims to support and mobilize creatives and professionals from the African creative sector, as well as enthusiasts more broadly, to contribute and enhance knowledge on Wikipedia about Africa’s creative economy. Its inaugural effort will target the film sectors of Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal.

The Africa Narrative (TAN) is a non-profit that develops singular, high-impact initiatives in support of African creatives and the African cultural and creative industries with the aim to strengthen capacity in the continent’s creative economy and the global visibility of African cultural soft power.

All volunteers must have full professional proficiency in English. In Senegal, they must have native or full professional proficiency in French; in Egypt, they must have native or full professional proficiency in Arabic. Volunteer facilitators should have a vast knowledge about Wikimedia projects and experience with teaching new editors. All volunteers will be compensated.

Interested participants may sign up on the project's Meta page. You may also indicate your country and email if your Wikipedia account is not associated with any email address.

The Africa Narrative/Volunteers

We will be glad if you can share with or recommend an Egyptian or Senegalese Wikipedian as well.

Thank you.
