Congratulations to 2022 Diplomacy February/MatchEdit

Hi, thank you for the kind reminder that we are starting the editathon very soon, and it feels like yesterday when I took part a year ago! Bon voyage on our trip for the culture and people of your land. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 15:12, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Omotecho:, Thanks for translation! It would be a pleasure for us, if you could join the contest this year again.  --ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 16:33, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@ValentynNefedov (WMUA):, hi, how would we know the calculation details, if we are not offered detailed explanation in our mother tongue? IMHO, ja people loves to calculate, so if unclear instruction is found, that will not encourage them take part... Is it possible to fork the translation original, and make a mini-page for calculation details? I remember we gave instruction for 2021 event, no? -- Omotecho (talk) 05:12, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi, @Omotecho:! That bit of page with example articles and calculation shows how the claim of participant should look like on this page. Unfortunately, there is no way around it, apart from making it in English. I understand your concern and I will try to come up with some compromise.--ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 08:44, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022Edit

Hi ValentynNefedov (WMUA), I'm from the Hebrew Wikipedia. The banner of the Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022 does not exist in the Hebrew Wikipedia. This event is translated into Hebrew, but I still can't se the banner of the event at the top of the main page...
pleas add the banner to the main page on the Hebrew Wikipedia. --Gross2killer (talk) 09:26, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Out of curiousity.Edit

Hello, thank you for responding on behalf of the Ukraine Diplomacy Month project, you mentioned that the banner intentions were planned and notified in advance. Just so I can get a better understanding of how things work, would you mind pointing out to me where these decisions are proposed and discussed? It would be nice to be prepared for the next banners as well.

Thanks and godspeed. --TZubiri (talk) 00:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, @TZubiri:! You can find more on the topic of CentralNotice banners here. Answering your question: I posted notifications about contest and banner on village pumps of projects one week prior to the actual campaign. For example, community of Russian wiki was against and banner was not set there.--ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 10:47, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My Respect to you and all the organizers for Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022Edit

To you and all the organizers: I would like to express my highest respect to you for continuing organizing the event during such a horrendous moment of modern history. Last year I knew very little about your country, barely scratching the surface by writing 6 articles about the Executed Renaissance. This year I personally wrote 44 articles about Ukraine on the Chinese Wikipedia, some of which are articles related to the ongoing invasion (museums and sites in Meliptopol, Kharkiv and Mariupol).

Other than participating in local anti-invasion protests, this is the only thing I could do. The invasion has made me question my faith to the modern civilization and the future to which we are heading. I feel sick to my guts about the antihuman crimes Putin's Regime is currently committing, while deeply hopeless to see people around me just live their daily lives as if nothing happened. I would love to visit Ukraine after this all ended, to see and explore the places I wrote about by myself. I initially planned to post this on the talk page of Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month, but posted here instead realizing it's probably too personal on a Wikipedia event page. Слава Україні. --Wikimycota~receptor 🍄 06:16, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Love and respect from Manipur too. 😍😍 --Haoreima (talk) 06:17, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi, @靖天子 and Haoreima:! It is really moving for me to hear such kind words of support from people living so far away yet sharing the same values and fighting against the same evil. Speaking not as employer of Wikimedia Ukraine but rather as wikimedian, I would say that I am proud to be part of such wonderful project that can bring up issues that hold this urgent status. Hope to meet you in person one day. Thanks a lot.   ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 20:33, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

UCDM '23Edit

First of all: all my appreciation to You, the organizers and the Ukrainian people. It just shows the strength of humanity, that a people of a country of 40 million can still be heard and can and will fight against the largest country on Earth. And, they still have time to organize a contest on Wikipedia! It's sad that in today's world, with the UN, Nato and EU, some people still choose to fight, even knowing the consequences.

Second of all: if I understand well, if a newly created article is less than 3500 bytes, then it is not eligible for the contest, so it cannot get any points. Is that true?

Thank you, have a wonderful day, and Слава Україні! - Molnár Gábor Dávid (talk) 07:01, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Molnár Gábor Dávid! Thanks you for such kind words! Answering your question, yes, articles should be more than 3500 bytes to be eligible for the contest. I checked your contribution so far and it's all good for you now. Героям слава! ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 09:37, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question about certificates for UCDMEdit

Hello Valentyn Nefedov! Thank you so much for organizing the event. I hope that you are safe and well. I received the link to the form, and I have a question. The first and last name are used only for the certificates, correct? The reason I ask is because of privacy concerns. Having my real name on the certificate is nice, but I'm not sure if I want people to know that I use this account. FunnyMath (talk) 22:22, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi! Yes, your name is solely used for certificate. We will not publish it anywhere. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 07:58, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you! By the way, I should've discussed this on Talk:Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2023. You can move it to the other page if you'd like, so other people can see. FunnyMath (talk) 23:31, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
