Problem: In Special:WhatLinksHere, having all the results in an apparent random order is of no help. When orphaning a page in order to correct wikilinks or titles, you can get stacks of articles with similar titles and likely to be related to a specific subject that one can (if need be) keep in or out of user's check: having these stacks well packed would be of great help.
Proposed solution: As per title: alphabetical order is an order at least... and the fittest I can think of.
Who would benefit: Any editor engaged in Orphanage projects.
@Pequod76: - I completely agree with this too. As there are quite a lot of issues for WhatLinksHere this year, I wonder if there's some way the Community Tech team could combine them during the review & organising phase? --YodinT12:17, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also want to note that the Default Sort Key should be used when sorting the pages as sometimes that can differ from Page Title. Default Sort Key can be seen in the second row on a page's Page Information (&action=info) page NNikkhoui (WMF) (talk) 14:44, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support But, IMHO, sorting order should be optional: by alphabet, by link addition timestamp, by page creation/last modificaton date, etc. Kaganer (talk) 20:22, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support in some form, maybe with multiple sort options in a drop-down menu like you get when you search shopping web sites (for example, on shopping sites you might see a menu with options like lowest price first, highest price first, highest rated first). Support There should be two drop-down boxes, one for what to sort by (page ID or title) and another for the sorting direction (ascending or descending). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 22:57, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support The actual type of sorting should be configurable by a drop down menu (by page ID, by alphabet, by last modification timestamp, by anchor/section name of the incoming links (expensive for articles, cheap for redirects), and whatever other sort options could be useful, in ascending and descending order), and the default display and sort settings should be pre-configurable in the user preferences, so that you don't have to reselect them whenever you invoke WhatLinksHere. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 20:34, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support Sortable alphabetically, sort-order (readings/yomigana in ja.wikipedia), section name alphabetically, by creation date. Also show the total count Wotheina (talk) 15:52, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support Needs a drop-down list to be able to select the sort order required, would be useul to also add similar to search page. Keith D (talk) 22:15, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
