I am actively involved in Wikipedia and Commons. My contributions are notably centered around enhancing gender diversity and representation within these platforms.
My experiences in Cyprus, a region characterized by its complex socio-political landscape and rich cultural diversity, have profoundly shaped my approach to promoting gender equity and inclusion. In 2019, I published Women in Conflict Zones, a book that documented the stories of women from all communities of Cyprus. This project provided me with deep insights into the unique challenges faced by women in regions marked by conflict and division, and it underscored the importance of ensuring that their voices are heard and their experiences are recorded. These regional experiences have not only deepened my understanding of the barriers women face in contributing to digital knowledge platforms but have also equipped me with practical strategies for overcoming these challenges. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for women editors in Cyprus, I have learned the importance of culturally sensitive approaches and the need for community-specific initiatives to effectively address global issues like gender representation. My goal is to bring these insights to the WikiWomen Collective, contributing to a more nuanced and effective global strategy for promoting gender equity on Wikimedia platforms.
When I was invited to participate in the #WikiGap event in Cyprus in 2018, I observed firsthand the significant underrepresentation of women both as contributors and as subjects on Wikimedia platforms. This experience was a catalyst for my commitment to addressing these disparities. Recognizing the need for a local, focused effort to bridge the gender gap, I founded the Wikimedia Community User Group Cyprus, which was formally recognized in 2024. Through this group, I have worked to recruit and support women from various communities in Cyprus to become active contributors to Wikimedia, thereby helping to ensure that the diverse stories of women in this region are adequately represented. My interest in joining the WikiWomen Collective stems from a deeply personal and professional commitment to advancing gender equity and representation in digital spaces. By joining the WikiWomen Collective, I aim to be part of a global community that shares this commitment and to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to ensuring that women’s voices and stories are adequately represented and valued on Wikimedia platforms.
I bring a blend of experiences and skills that align closely with the mission of the WikiWomen Collectiveː - Founder of the Wikimedia Community User Group Cyprus. I have firsthand experience in building and leading initiatives focused on gender equality within the Wikimedia community. - Consultant and researcher on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace, and a Ph.D. candidate. My research focuses on how technology, particularly AI tools, can be leveraged to promote equity and inclusion. These skills and experiences will allow me to contribute meaningfully to the collective’s efforts to bridge the gender gap on Wikimedia.
My primary goal for participating in the WikiWomen Collective is to contribute to the collective's efforts. I aim to leverage my experience in DEI and Human-Computer Interaction to develop and implement strategies that make it easier for women to contribute to Wikimedia, ensuring that their stories and perspectives are well-represented. Additionally, I hope to collaborate with other members of the collective to exchange ideas, share best practices, and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women within the Wikimedia community. Shortly after publishing my first article in 2019, I had the opportunity to conduct workshops and training sessions across the Netherlands, focusing on bridging the gender gap. In these sessions, I guided new editors into the Dutch Wikipedia community to encourage growth and promote diversity. I also initiated several projects, including the Dutch version of Wiki Loves Fashion. I am actively involved in the Dutch Wiki Women in Red, de Gendergap Werkgroep contributing both behind the scenes, and in media interviews both nationally and locally, as well as organizing a monthly get together to edit Wikipedia. Recently, I was elected as a board member of Wikimedia Netherlands, concentrating on accessibility, diversity, and community.
I strive to help create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for people of all genders within the Wikimedia community.
I am committed to implementing changes that address the community's current needs. By enhancing international collaboration and incorporating diverse perspectives, we can create a richer and more comprehensive body of information. This diversity not only improves the quality of content but also helps ensure that everyone feels safer and more included within Wikimedia projects.
I have a diverse skill set developed through my work with various Wikimedia initiatives. I’ve trained and assisted both new and experienced participants, coordinated projects and maintained project pages. I know my way around the outreach dashboard. I was involved in the formation and first months of the Dutch appeal committee for the friendly space policy. My perspective outside the traditional gender binary helps me understand how to create a more inclusive and comfortable space for everyone

For someone like me who grew up in a kibbutz (-a very small community of people who know each other in person), community was always an important part of my life. We have a strong community of editors here in Israel that meet in person, and that is part of the reason that I am the Wikiwoman that I am today. When I started editing in Wikipedia, it was important for me to bring my own voice and work to minimize the gender gap. I always try to encourage more women to be an active editor. Once a year, we have an edit-a-thon, Art+feminism. More than 20 women come to edit every year (in average), more than 20 new articles are being create every year, and many edits are done. I always try to take care of the gender gap, in my way, and encourage more women to take an active part in the different Wikimedia projects. By creating an existing, supporting community for women we strive to reduce the gender gap and make the Hebrew Wikipedia a warm place for women writing. A significant percentage of contributors on Wiki are men, highlighting a noticeable gender gap that needs urgent attention. The disparity between male and female contributors underscores the importance of creating a more inclusive and balanced environment on Wikispace. With the skills I acquired from the Organizer Lab Course, I am well-equipped to analyze and understand the complexities of this gap. This knowledge will enable me to identify and focus on topics that can make a meaningful impact on the community, particularly those related to gender equity. By addressing these issues, we can work towards a more diverse and representative platform where voices of all genders are equally heard and valued on Wikispace.

The just concluded WikiConference Nigeria I was the only woman who attended the conference from Northern –Nigeria. This made me think about a lot of contributions and ideas that we can implement to make things better, and the gender gap is a topic the world always talks about. I would love to be a part of this great impact we're about to make while representing not just the women in Nigeria but every woman that exists. This is an opportunity for me to build the gender gap as well, so I'm here to take up a part of the responsibility.
I am a professional academic librarian with skills in information, digital literacy, and communication skills. I also have event organisation skills. Her tireless efforts to champion women's participation in Wikimedia projects in this challenging environment speak volumes about her dedication and resilience. Additionally, her role as a guest speaker during the Gombe Network's March Knowledge Circle on "Inspiring Inclusivity in the Wikimedia Movement" showcased her ability to inspire and empower women and young girls through her impactful experience-sharing. Since the foundation of the WikiDonne project and affiliate in August 2016, I have been dedicated to addressing gender gap and diversity issues, primarily on Italian Wikipedia (although I am currently indefinitely blocked on this project), as well as on Italian Wikiquote and Italian Wikibooks. I have initiated several international campaigns and contests, such as Wiki Loves Sport and Wiki Loves Fashion, and have brought global campaigns like Art + Feminism, Feminism & Folklore, and Wikigap to local communities. Additionally, I have formed numerous alliances and collaborations with groups sharing our objectives, such as Interwiki Women. I was a member of the Diversity Working Group for the Strategy 2030 during its initial phase (2018–2020), coordinated the Diversity Space at Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm, and in 2020, I proposed the creation of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Hub. My experience extends to various communities and affiliates, having served on the Affiliations Committee for nearly six years, including roles as Treasurer (in 2018 and 2020) and Chair (in 2022). I hold a certification from the Wikimedia Foundation as a Gender and Climate Change Organizer and have an Event Organizer flag. I started editing Wikipedia as part of a class project during my first year of college. We had a guest lecture by José Flores (current President of Wikimedia Mexico), who explained how to edit Wikipedia and accompanied us until the completion of our final project. Years later, as a graduate student, I decided to return as a Wikipedia editor and created a project entitled "Wiki-Científicas Mexicanas" #WikiCMx (Wiki-Mexican Women in Science). This project aims to create and edit biographical content on Wikipedia about women in science, particularly those who are poorly represented. Since 2020 I have collaborated with Wikimedia Mexico in the organization of nine edit-a-thons and one photography campaign to increase the representation of female scientists in Wikipedia. The work done by this project has been featured on different occasions in national media. I am an active editor in the spanish and english Wikipedia, and an occasional contributor in Wikimedia Commons. Outside of my project WikiCMx, I actively participate in the activities and events organized by Wikimedia Mexico. I take advantage of the "Jueves Wiki" and the "Nosotras Escribimos Wikipedia" meetings to improve the articles created during the WikiCMx edit-a-thons or to create new articles.
I am passionate about fostering a more inclusive and welcoming environment within the Wikimedia community, particularly for women and newcomers. My dedication to narrowing the gender gap on Wikipedia, particularly in amplifying the voices and achievements of female scientists, drives my contributions. I am committed to creating and promoting spaces where women feel safe and empowered to share their ideas, knowledge, and questions regarding Wikipedia and the broader representation of women on the internet. I deeply enjoy contributing to Wikimedia projects and am eager to share my knowledge and experiences with the WikiWomen Taskforce. Together, I believe we can significantly impact the representation of women across Wikimedia projects, cultivating an inclusive, safe, respectful, and equitable community for all.
I want to join the WikiWomen Taskforce because it aligns with my dedication to uplifting and supporting women and ensuring their voices are represented across the Wikimedia community. I am eager to contribute to creating an inclusive and balanced representation of women by fostering international collaboration and bringing in multiple perspectives. I believe in building rich and safe spaces where women can come for advice, guidance, and training, which is crucial for both personal growth and improving the quality of content across Wikimedia projects. Together, we can ensure everyone feels safer, heard, and represented.
I bring a diverse skill set developed through my experience in academia and the Wikimedia Movement. With strong communication and speaking abilities, I approach every project with joy, love, and passion. I have successfully organized multiple edit-a-thons focused on improving the quantity and quality of underrepresented female scientists on Wikipedia, ensuring their contributions are accurately represented. I curate reliable sources for these events and work to improve the biographies of female scientists at risk of deletion. Additionally, I guide newcomers through their first Wikipedia edits, helping them create well-referenced, quality articles and avoid their deletion, ensuring they feel supported throughout their journey.
I want to contribute to implementing effective strategies to narrow the gender gap across Wikimedia projects, ensuring more equitable representation for all. My goals for participating in the WikiWomen Taskforce are to foster international collaboration and embrace a wide range of perspectives, creating an inclusive environment where female contributors feel valued, heard, and represented. I am committed to building safe spaces that inspire women to thrive and contribute meaningfully. I also aim to support projects and initiatives that empower women to become active editors and leaders within the Wikimedia community. Making a visible positive impact in my region is one I have set as a standard and this is evident in how I always promote quality in articles written or translated to the Yorùbá Wikipedia. Asides this, I also head trainings for new community members who need to learn a skill or two, one of which is the training I headed for the Yorùbá Community for the recently concluded WPWP challenge. All of these I am able to do while attending various conferences that shapes my knowledge of the Wikimedia Projects from time to time so as to increase not just my horizon but that of other volunteers as well. Being at the forefront in the light that speaks for all and expresses capacity, quality, and impact is one I model well in my regional community.
Women are made in such diverse and unique nature, and as an epitome, we should be a part of change – remain constant. " Considerations for Personal Statement
The just concluded WikiConference Nigeria made me think about a lot of contributions, ideas that we can implement to make things better and the gender gap is a topic the world always talks about. I would love to be a part of this great impact we're about to make while representing not just the women in Nigeria but every woman that exists. This is an opportunity for me to build gender gap as well so I'm here to take up a part of the responsibility.
One of the projects I'd love to birth as a part of the WikiWomen Collective is it I'd call WikiWomen Collaborate which will be divided into two – WikiWomen Creates and WikiWomen Edits. This project will foster a stronger wiki environment, will birth several more articles where we can translate articles of each other's culture, practices, or developments into our community Wikipedia Pages. This will also enables us reach more women which will depict inclusivity and as well increase the number of articles created by women per year if made an annual engagement. This is just one of the great ways I can create an impact. I look forward to bringing more and better ideas to WikiWomem Collective. Leadership skill and how to manage followers is a part of the experiences I have as I've been made to manage several duties in various capacities.

I think, this is a high time to bring more women in leadership and new vision in the movement. So, we work on gender gap challenges and can go beyond it.
I am already working with many Indian communities and al trying to involve in women focused initiatives. Second thing is, I found there is no application from South Asia and to bridge that gap I am nominating myself if someone from South Asia wants to join this group, I would more than happy to take step back and support and endorse her.
I can support this group in any way, open to learn, such as communication (documentation, sharing, story telling, social media (promoting the initiatives), engagement, coordination, support on idea level, scheduling monthly calls & agenda, virtual sessions according to the need, online activity like edit-a-thons, support in-person events and so on. I can work with the team wherever they feel I should or can contribute. I am PhD and associate professor at the Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine; member of Wikimedia Ukraine, active in the implementation of the Wikipedia educational program at my university. I developed and organized the first wikischool for high school students in Ukraine. Member of the organizing committees of various wikicampaigns, in particular of the marathon on Crimean Tatar Wikipedia 2024. More details (in Ukrainian) about my activities are on my user page: https://w.wiki/9DSz
I believe that Wikipedia and other wikiprojects are a powerful tool for teaching various competencies to high school students and university students. In particular, in the context of understanding gender issues, Wikipedia can be very valuable. High school students and university students can help us overcome various gaps in Wikipedia, including gender ones. I also see Wikipedia as a shelter for minority languages and cultures where they have a chance to survive for future generations. That is why I study language of the Crimean Tatars, indigenous people of Ukraine, and also edit the Crimean Tatar Wikipedia. Considerations for Personal Statement
I would like to help the Ukrainian wikicommunity overcome the gender gap in Wikipedia and other wikiprojects more effectively and quickly. My goal is also to get as many students interested in gender issues in Wikipedia as possible. I would also like to offer Wikimedia Ukraine, the organization I belong to, promising gender initiatives that they could implement in the near future. To do this, I need to study international experience of such initiatives, discuss its advantages and disadvantages with interested parties. I think participation in the Wiki Women Task Force will give me such an opportunity.
I have significant experience in implementing the Wikipedia into university education and I know about methods of using Wikipedia and wikiprojects for more effective learning. I also have sufficient experience in editing Wikipedia and some other wikiprojects. Participated in gender-specific competitions in Ukrainian Wikipedia and Wikiquote (WikiGap, She Said and She Did It).

I have also collaborated closely with UNESCO and the Swedish Consulates in India to support gender gap-focused events in the region.
I see this as a unique opportunity to contribute my skills and experiences toward shaping a more inclusive, equitable Wikimedia movement. With my background in strategic planning, community engagement, and gender equity advocacy, I am eager to collaborate with other members of the Task Force to make a lasting impact. Here are the key skills and experiences I can contribute:
