Chair & Co-founder, WikiDonne User Group

About me

Hello, I'm Camelia, I was born in Romania (under the Ceausescu era), but I live in Rome since 1992. I have both citizenship, Romanian and Italian. I'm the proud mum of a 16 year old teen that, even after translating 3 female biographies, doesn't consider herself a Wikipedian :-D. I was Wikimedia Italy's coordinator for Education in Lazio region from October 2015 since March 2017, interested in software development, Wiki Loves Monuments, education, STEM fields and gender gap. Chair and co-founder of WikiDonne User Group. Wikipedian since March 18th 2007 and wikimedian since September of the same year. WMIT member from the beginning (2007), member of WLM Italy preliminary jury for all editions, WMSE member since 2017 and a fresh 2018's WMAR and WMCH member. I work as Java EE developer, I am a AffCom member since 16 january 2017 and it's treasurer till the end of 2018. I also serve as Coordinator of the Diversity Working Group for Wikimedia Strategy 2030.

My work

I think that user groups are the first entities to grow up our comunity, because they are present on the territory. We need to involve in our projects young people (for the generational exchange) and women/no binary people (to fill the gender gap and for diversity - to have e different point of view). I am mostely active in it.wikipedia (where I created WikiDonne project and Feminism Portal in italian Wikipedia) and commons.wikimedia, but also in ro.wikipedia & en.wikipedia, it.wikiquote, it.wikibooks and Wikidata. I just started with it.wikisource, that for a long time I thought it was only for librarians. As member of AffCom, with my colleagues I love help affiliates to organize themselves and solve conflicts (I am a member of the Mediation SubCommittee), I'm part of Wikimedia Diversity Group, coordinator of Diversity Working Group for the Strategy movement #Wikimedia2030 and I co-lead the Diversity Space @ Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm. I am part of the Gender gap task force team and an ambassador of diversity / open knowledge / opendata of the Wikimedia movement (so I'm in love with Wikidata). Together with other wikimedians & friends, I coordinate the Interwiki Women Collaboration, Wiki Loves Sport and Wiki Loves Fashion campaigns. I also manage some committees/affiliates/campaigns social media account on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Telegram.
