It should be noted that Wiki Loves Africa runs in EVERY African country (and beyond !). In most countries, there is usually a wikimedia team willing to host events and activities. If this is the case and you are the lead organizer, please add your country below. But if your country is not listed here and you still want to participate in the contest or related activities, and maybe also submit pictures, you are encouraged to go ahead but please add your details in the second table below.

Activities for organizing teams

We are excited and really look forward to working with you on this 10th iteration of the project and getting some great results also!

If you are interested in hosting events around the contest and you need funding, kindly submit a rapid grant (see below for guidance).

Consult this page for how to apply for a Rapid Grant and plan for your events (this page is about 2022... 2024 coming soon). You are sure to find helpful resources to support your Wiki Loves Africa local participation.

Typically the process consists:
  • Identifying what needs to be done
  • Plan your events
  • Apply for a Rapid Grant
  • Prepare for your event
  • Communicate with international organizers and local community members about your activities
National Juries

As an organizing team, you may decide to organize a National best images selection process, with national winners. Most organizing teams do that. But this is not mandatory. Unlike Wiki Loves Monument, the national selections and the international selection are independent.

So if you want to organize a best national images selection, a ceremony, gifts for national winners, certificate... please do. It is great. But it is also fine to not have a national winner selection. Some countries do not have enough volunteers to run a selection process and ceremony. This is absolutely fine. Please do what is best for you.

If however, you choose to organize a national selection process, please check these Jury process guidelines.

Kurum

It is not mandatory to run a pretty successful activity, however that could boost your range and impact. You can apply for Rapid Grants offered by the Wikimedia Foundation at Project/Rapid. Review all propositions here Grants:Project/Rapid/Browse applications .

Mind the deadline for applications. The deadline to submit is 1st NOVEMBER 2023.
