Wiki Loves Africa" project aims to address the lack of representation of Africa on Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. With the theme "Africa creates", we are aiming to showcase the breathtaking diversity and creativity that Africa has to offer, to include uploads of media that portray the process of creating, inventing, manufacturing culturally defined items, make-up, art, hairstyles, music, dance, clothes and woven materials etc. Basically, elements that promotes Africa's rich heritage and culture. expressed through music, song, dance, and movement.and bring about a change in the perception of Africa as a place of creativity and innovation.

One of the main challenges we are trying to solve is the perception of Africa as a place of poverty and conflict, rather than a place of opportunity and creativity. To address this challenge, we plan to focus on promoting content that showcases the creative achievements of Africa.

Also, to solve the lack of knowledge and awareness of Africa's rich history and culture, as well as the limited availability of content about Africa in multiple languages.

To address these challenges, we plan to organize a series of workshops and edit-a-thons, as well as provide training and support for new editors from From the Northeast Nigeria. We also plan to engage with the local communities and build partnerships with organizations that share our vision. other approaches include:

Workshop: we will introduce our community members to the Wiki Loves Africa contest and train them on how to contribute/participate and also invite professional photographers in the region and introduce them to Wikimedia projects and give them room to participate in the contest.

Photo hunts: we will embark on a photo walks taking and gathering random pictures of about 100-150 different unrepeated, quality images related to the theme.( Africa creates).

Training sessions: Training will be held before the participants start uploading the media files to ensure accuracy and meeting of the requirements and to avoid having many problems with the uploaded files.

Upload sessions: most experience editors from the community will lead and guide the rest of the participants especially the newly recruited ones during the upload sessions.

Tracking Tools: we will use outreach dashboard, Wikiloves and image category to track participants' contributions and also provide one on one support for them.

Prizes: we will consider giving out prizes at the local level to the top 5 contributors as incentives to motivate them at the end of the contest.
