editHi Gayle!
My name is Divya - I'm an Associate Consultant with the Bridgespan Group working with Wikimedia on Funds Dissemination. As part of our work, we are hoping to interview leaders in other non-profit organizations to understand how their organizations raise and allocate funds to various grantees and entities. We were hoping to speak to individuals at the following organizations:
- IDEX
- Global Fund for Women
- Global GreenGrants Fund
- Central American Women's Fund
- Greenpeace
- Doctors Without Borders
Do you have any contacts at these organizations that you could connect us with? We would also love your insight into any other organizations you feel might be great for us to speak to. Please feel free to contact me either via my talk page or via email (divya.narayanan@bridgespan.org).
Thanks! --Divyanarayanan_tbg
Let's get the blogging party started!
editHi Gayle! Thank you for signing up to be a founding volunteer of the WikiWomen's Collaborative. I've started to draft ideas for blogs on meta, here! Feel free to chime in, and let's get this blogging party started! :) SarahStierch (talk) 00:15, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi Gayle! Hope all is well. I wanted to let you know that the WikiWomen's Collaborative has recently underwent renovations to make it visually more attractive and easier to find resources. I'd love for you to be involved - since you are a founding member, of course. You'll find resources about getting involved in blogging, Facebook, and more. I also encourage you make an introduction, which is easy to do with a click of a button. I'm moving back to volunteering at the end of the month, and I really hope the project can continue to thrive and grow with volunteer support. See you there, i hope! Your message
editThank you for your message, I understand you were pressed by sort of emergency though, your message is unclear so that you would like to revise it ;) For instance, if out of wikimedia-l context, I had been puzzled which wiki you meant in that message. Cheers, --Aphaia (talk) 14:28, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello Gayle, I'm just letting you know that I created this page collecting some public information around. I assume you will have or had it again this year around this period, so that may be an occasion for you to add a bit to the page. Speaking of which, I couldn't find the slides you showed at the metrics meeting; it would be helpful if you could upload them somewhere (personally, I have big problems digesting information from videos, reading is so much easier). Thanks, Nemo 17:46, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Nemo! We actually just launched the survey this week, expecting to get the results in late November.Gyoung (talk) 22:18, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Leadership in WMF and in the movement
editHi Gayle, no one from WMF has responded to this yet. Would you or one of your employees respond please? I understand that it would be difficult to run WMF without some hierarchy, but I'm interested in how much merit, if any, you think there is in the critique that the thinking in the office is largely top-down and inconsistent with the culture of the community. I am also interested in hearing how you would describe what "leadership" is in WMF and in the community. Thanks! --Pine✉ 07:49, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Gyoung. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Gyoung~metawiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
