Hi, this is strange

Hi, your edit summary for SRGP GR reads "5d after 2018-01-12 is 2018-01-07". We are now in 2019 I guess? And shouldn't it be before? This year community wishlist survey we might want to push for edit summary editing? Have a Blessed New Year again. --Cohaf (talk) 07:28, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Check if you are using any proxy, and disable it. If you cannot do so for some reason, submit a request for global ip block exemption in SRGP. — regards, Revi 14:59, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

About global lock

I will come back on October 5, 2020 to appeal my global lock. No ifs and buts. LaurenCox600 (chat me here!) 17:42, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

You are free to think so. But that won't change reality. — regards, Revi 17:44, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
@-revi:, first off, I am interested in coming back again and I think October 5, 2020 is a good time for me to do so, but I will appeal the global lock by then. I will wait until October 5, 2020 without block evasion, socking, and editing. When I come back, I will edit constructively. I will not sock or evade my block and I will take a break until October 5, 2020. From --LaurenCox600 (chat me here!) 22:48, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
You simply don't have any chande of appeal. Period. Bye then! — regards, Revi 03:02, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
@-revi: Oh yes I do. Stop treating me like sh*t you misogynistic moron. You never helped me. All you did is ruined me. Your a bully and I will come back on October 5, 2020 whether you like it or not. Case closed. —LaurenCox600 (chat me here!) 05:39, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
LOL I don't care about your gender, age, nationality, whatsoever, only thing that matter is you are continuing to sock, which defeats your statement earlier LOL. — regards, Revi 05:41, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Technical Wishes: News from the FileExporter feature

Hello. In June, a first version of the FileExporter was released as a beta feature on a few first wikis. Thanks again for your feedback! Here are some news:

  • We’ve worked some more on the feature: Bugs were fixed, and new functionality added. For instance, log entries are now created for imports to make it easier to find imported files. Please be aware that we’re still in the beta phase and that the feedback process is ongoing.
  • The FileExporter is now available on all other wikis.

We’d be happy to hear your thoughts on this new version on the central feedback page. Best, Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (talk) 12:50, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

I have been prohibited from editing on wikipedia

I live in turkey , where wikipedia is blocked. for that reason i used proxy sites to open it. anyway , i have been prohibited from editing on wikipedia for using proxy . they mention that my IP is 65.49.126.91، and the prohibited zone is 65.49.0.0/17.

so what i should do to remove the blockage on my IP.

Best regards and thank you

#1Lib1Ref May 2019

  The Wikipedia Library – #1Lib1Ref

As you might've already known, #1Lib1Ref is happening again in May!

#1Lib1Ref, the annual campaign where librarians add references to improve Wikipedia, is back for another round, running from May 15th to June 5th, 2019.

  • Not every part of the world is in sync, more particularly the southern and northern hemispheres. While the January version of the #1lib1ref campaign works well mostly for the northern hemisphere, it doesn't for the countries below the equator. Hence #1lib1ref May! This is a great expansion of the event and it means that there is another opportunity to make Wikipedia more factual and verifiable by leveraging the expertise of librarians around the world.
  • While this campaign encourages participation from the southern hemisphere, we would love for you to join us even if you participated in the January campaign – after all, Wikipedia is only as strong as its references! So whether we call this 1Lib1Ref May, 1Lib1Ref for the Southern Hemisphere, or 1Lib1Ref Strikes Back, the point is the excitement is building again, and we'd like you to be a part of it.

I can have the bot join the channel but I can't (and won't) modify the DB to purge something — that goes against my policy of 'if it is working don't touch it. Nope'. If it breaks it takes damn lot of time to fix it and I don't want this bot to drain my time. — regards, Revi 21:46, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Mövcud problemlə bağlı dünən AzVikidə müzakirə açmışam. Əgər qərarın bizim cəmiyyət tərəfindən verilməsi fikrinə üstünlük verirsinizsə, o zaman niyə müzakirələrin nəticəsini gözləmədən statusu alırsınız? --►Cekli829 06:43, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
It is clear abuse of admin tool to use it to fight with other admins (block, protection, etc etc), and it usually result in immediate removal of admin access without any prior discussion. — regards, Revi 06:45, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
Bundan sonra bürokratın verəcəyi qərara (yəni statusu bərpa edərsə) münasibətiniz necə olacaq? --►Cekli829 06:51, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
To be honest, I actually don't care, as long as 'abuse of admin tool' does not happen again. — regards, Revi 06:53, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
Təşəkkür! Belə başa düşdüm ki, bürokrat statusu bərpa edə bilər. O zaman belə aydın olur ki, Siz də statusu bərpa edə bilərsiniz. Elə deyilmi? Elədirsə, 'abuse of admin tool' etməyəcəyimə dair Sizə söz verə bilərəm. Zəhmət olmazsa, xahiş edirəm ki, statusumu bərpa edin. Hörmətlə, --►Cekli829 06:58, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
That is outside of my rights as long as there is an active crat. — regards, Revi 08:26, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
Dear -revi. Please leave the decision to our Wikipedia community. --Turkmen talk08:25, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
@Cekli829:, @-revi:, I think this decision is right. After that, who want to be a sysop again according to the Azviki rules needs to discussion and should enter the voting again. If the wiki community wants it again, this right can be given. But I'm definitely against the automatic and non-voting of this.--eldarado 08:34, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi, @-revi:

I work for Azerbaijani Wikipedia close to 10 years. During this time, I wrote 1,500 articles and organized at least ten local wiki conference. Everybody knows me in Azviki and knows what kind of character I have. It's important for me to have a sysop to create the homepage, News sections and stop some vandalism events. For all these reasons, I would ask you to return my sysop status.--Baskervill (talk) 08:41, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi,

I am also Azerbaijani Wikipedian sysop and my user name is Turkmen. Our wikipedian community dissatisfied with the sysop status of Cekli829. Please do not return the sysop rights of the Cekli829 without the decision of the local wikipedia community. Baskervill has always been a good manager and has always been respected by the local community.

Regards--Turkmen talk09:42, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

  • Because azwiki has 2 bureaucrats, I'm not granting any admin access on azwiki. It is forbidden by Stewards policy to do so. Please take the re-adminships to your local bureaucrats. Thanks. — regards, Revi 09:45, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
Hello, please remove the desyoping of Baskervill. Cekli829 is the one who started this wheel warring. As Rschen7754 said, he is one the good guys. Both AzWiki and Meta decided to desysop Cekli829, but no word for Baskervill was said. --► Sincerely: A¥×aᚢ Zaÿïþzaþ€(hail sithis!) 09:50, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

"Wheel War" is a English Wikipedia jargon: "Wheel warring is when an administrator's action is reversed by another administrator, but rather than discussing the disagreement, administrator tools are then used in a combative fashion to undo or redo the action." What happened on azwiki today (or yesterday depending on timezone) just fits in this definition. I am not going to reinstate anyone's sysop access (either Baskervill or Cekli829) on Meta: It should be decided by your community and acted by your community's bureaucrat, not me. — regards, Revi 11:16, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

  • @Baskervill: The decision is up to your community. My guess is that if you apologized and waited some time, and then followed your local adminship process, you probably would become an admin again. However, to all azwiki, I would significantly warn against making Cekli829 an admin again (that is, if the other proposals on the RFC do not pass). --Rschen7754 18:14, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

Title blacklist addition seems broad and an elevated status

Hi. While I don't doubt that there is some necessity to protect WMKR, I feel that the addition could have some discussion, especially in a broader context as at this stage none of WMFr, WMDE, WMSE, etc. are protected. To this point we have only protected WMF and that was due to their process for restricting the addition of addresses. If the accounts of the broader WM family are needing to be protected how should that occur, what is the provision for such a creation, and does there need to be a provision for closing out the account. Your relationship with koWP and presumably aspects of WMKR may be seen as an interest that would not have you implement what could be seen as a new policy approach. Personally, I think that there should be something analogous to an RFC for a consensus on what is appropriate if we are going to start offering a protected status to such accounts.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:53, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

You are fine to revert it. I don't want to drain my time with RfCs when I have much more things to do. — regards, Revi 11:55, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

special:abuselog Korean language infused spam

Hi. I am sure that you have seen plenty of the spam in the abuselog that throws the occasional Korean language word/phrase as spam (I am presuming that they are actually proper words). Noting that I am seeing a fair amount related to casinos and betting at the moment. Is there any terms that you are seeing there that we could look to put into title blacklist maybe with use of <autoconfirmed> to put some of this away? Even if we need to globally blacklist the terms, then make some allowance through the local Korean instances of Mediawiki:titlewhitelist.

Other examples seen are

Thanks for any opinion you care to share.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:13, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

It has to be broad term 'casino' (in this instance 카지노) that needs to be blacklisted to be effective. And you are right that it's casino — it's basically c:User:레비/KS. — regards, Revi 00:17, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. As a starting measure I have added the term to special:abusefilter/169 and if there any other easy terms to add then seems at least an easy place to lessen the load.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:51, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Thoughts about blacklisting "카지노" then whitelisting on Korean language wikis

Hi. I am wondering the value on title blacklisting "카지노" with the autoconfirmed tag then whitelisting on the Korean language wikis. How problematic do you think that would be?  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:59, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

I have title blacklisted "더나인카지노" as it seemed okay from checks, though do tell me, or undo, if problematic. (addition)  — billinghurst sDrewth 21:55, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
There is almost none (practically zero) reason to create more Casino-relaed articles in Korean outside kowiki (or kowikt) so feel free to kill the general word '카지노'. — regards, Revi 22:01, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

I can edit the pages right away, but when it goes live and if the new behavior of the software destroys the previous translations, it means you will need to redo with the new way.

— regards, Revi 06:04, 4 September 2019 (UTC)

Unblock

192.169.128.0/17 is a carpet bombing! And 214.239 is by no means an "open proxy" which is stated as a block reason.

"192.169.128.0" range belongs to GoDaddy, who offers VPS service which is considered Open Proxy. 214.239, I am not sure which block you are referring to, but I guess yes, I've probably chosen the wrong block reason, it should've been "Long Term Abuse". — regards, Revi 10:28, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

my ip is blocked

IP:115.144.164.167,IP:49.254.99.5,IP:121.126.86.83 are not open proxy. なぜブロックされたのか疑問ですが、この三つのIPアドレスはプロキシではありませんので、すぐ解除お願い致します。

They are VPN. You can see the word "VPN" in their website. @Rxy, care to translate? — regards, Revi 10:24, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

ハイオンネットは日本と韓国でサービスしている会社です。

VPNのサービスもやっているみたいですが、自分が使っているIPはVPNとかプロキシではありません。 https://www.ipqualityscore.com/free-ip-lookup-proxy-vpn-test/lookup/115.144.164.167

を見てください. You can see my ips are not proxies. Hionet is servicing low price internet in Japan and Korea. If i use VPN service, the site will show I'm proxy user.--トルコの北海道 (talk) 10:22, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

block

Hi revi. Can you block 大諾屎? The user is making attacks against me & other editors on zh-yue wiki. There aren't local sysops online at the moment. (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 08:06, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

possible xwiki vandalism IP at KOWIKI

Hello, this message is guided by your notice at Korean Wikipedia. The case is that I found a possible xwiki vandal IP address whilst I was monitoring its edits since zhwiki's local block was made, please check if it also deserves an local block at kowiki. Thanks. --Hamish 16:43, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

#1Lib1Ref January 2020

The Wikipedia Library – #1Lib1Ref
#1Lib1Ref is happening again from January 15th through February 5th!

From January 15th to February 5th we will be joining together around the world to make Wikipedia more reliable. You can participate in #1Lib1Ref by simply adding a citation to Wikipedia's content!

That's all we ask and imagine: a world in which every librarian (or archivist, reference professional, and scholar) adds 1 more reference to Wikipedia. This is the fifth year of the #1Lib1Ref campaign and we couldn’t be more excited to support another year of activities.

  • If you are planning to host a coffee hour or a edit-a-thon focused on #1Lib1Ref, and you need funding for the event, you will be able to apply for a Rapid Grant. For the best chance of approval, requests should be made in the month of November, since requests related to #1Lib1Ref will be given priority by the Grants team during November.
  • You can make sure your contribution is counted by using the Program and Events Dashboard for your event, institution, or region, and using the #1Lib1Ref hashtag in your edit summary. Login to start a new event or join an existing one for the January campaign.
  • You can join the 1Lib1Ref community via the Wikimedia & Libraries, and 1Lib1Ref mailing lists, or by joining the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group.

Full resources and guides for participating are available on the campaign page.

Sorry about that, I must have edit conflicted with you without realizing it. I note that you said not done because it wasn't in Special:UserRights - I didn't think it would be, since it wasn't really a group anymore (just a few users left in it, no permissions or anything). --DannyS712 (talk) 03:35, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

It would've been good to self-close it if I had not closed it, but I already did it so...
There was no such group (TM) as of the moment when I saw this, and as such there is nothing to be done (so notdone) by the Stewards. What is done outside of the stewards area is usually not a grounds for alreadydone - it's more of |status=local (Locally handled).
Feel free to leave a comment with a link to the task (if you wish), but please leave my comment and status intact. — regards, Revi 03:39, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi I think you blocked me?

i got a message saying I am blocked.

You will need to tell me which IP you belong to. Check it here and send the result via here. — regards, Revi 10:43, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Email: Just In Case (tm)

I recently switched the email service provider for my inbox. Emails sent @ 2019-12-10 and 2019-12-22 (UTC) might be lost. Since I disable 'notify me when someone used Special:EmailUser' in Preferences, I have no way to know if you sent it but it was lost during the inbox migrations and/or DNS configuration change.

So, email me again if you sent me an email on 2019-12-10 and/or 2019-12-22. (I got all mails sent between 2019-12-11 and 2019-12-21. I am still catching up with about 600 inbox emails, so hold on.) — regards, Revi 10:42, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
