Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Request MassMessage sender rightsEdit

Request MassMessage sender rights Re-requesting as suggested

Hello, Sample Message would be: Join us for office hours on (date and time) and similar announcements about User group events. The audience for the messages would be our members (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_and_Libraries_User_Group/Members). I would need this capability at least through January 2023, or for one year from now. Please let me know what else you need from me.

Earlier request: I'm chair of the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group Steering Committee and I want to send our 380+ members. --Windblown29 (talk) 15:48, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

--Windblown29 (talk) 14:44, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

@Windblown29 Hello. I mean a full message that you will send and a MMS list that is created. For example you might want to refer to this. Thanks. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 07:07, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Help filing RfC for global ban of Midnight68Edit

I was advised to start an RfC about banning a long-term problem user. After spending a lot of time creating the RfC, I was unable to save it because of "abuse 23". When I tried to ask an admin for help, I discovered that my account had been blocked by the abuse filter bot. @Xaosflux: suggested I ask for help here. I was able to save a draft of the RfC in my userspace on English Wikipedia. It would be ideal if someone could start the RfC for me with that draft. Failing that, could someone at least tell me why I am unable to save the RfC so that I can fix it myself? Thanks. B. disruptus (talk) 20:50, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Note to admins, this was hitting private filter Special:AbuseFilter/214 = which is fairly broad and impacts newer editors. — xaosflux Talk 20:55, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Probably not related to the abuse filter false positive, but you aren't eligible to file a global ban proposal because you don't have at least 500 edits globally (on all Wikimedia wikis) (from Global bans#Obtaining consensus for a global ban). * Pppery * it has begun 21:19, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Requests for comment/De-adminship for Jusjih in certain projectsEdit

I am concerned that Jusjih (talk · contribs) appears to be making serious allegations of paid editing here. (I will also note that Jusjih is an administrator on this wiki, which is concerning - certainly not the sort of intimidating behavior that I want to see from any admin on any wiki, especially Meta).

I will also say that there are some comments made by other editors there that could use some clerking under the powers given at Requests for comment/Policy. --Rschen7754 05:12, 25 May 2022 (UTC)

I think it would be best to close the RFC altogether, as it is clearly not actionable. Deciding to desysop someone in all projects via a Meta RFC is unprecedented, and there is no support for it anyway in the RFC. As desysopping is a steward action, a steward should probably close it. --MF-W 08:24, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
@Rschen7754 and MF-Warburg: Thanks for speaking out. The RFC is a malicious retaliation by Zhxy 519 who has sabotaged de-sysoping process on Chinese Wikisource thrice with the extreme conflict of interest [1] [2] [3] after having sabotaged the local voting thrice before. [4] [5] [6], with no regard to w:Wikipedia:Don't remind others of past misdeeds. Thus would any steward please close that ridiculous and reckless RFC and to process Steward requests/Permissions#Removal of access to suspend Zhxy 519 from adminship on Chinese Wikisource pending further local actions?--Jusjih (talk) 02:18, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
@Jusjih: You are missing the point, you cannot make serious accusations like "paid editing" without evidence. See w:Wikipedia:Casting aspersions. --Rschen7754 02:24, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
@Rschen7754: I have not directly accused anyone of undeclared paid edits. What is wrong to simply remind unspecified readers about the global policy? Back in September 2021, Zhxy 519 started another abusive RFC to retaliate being considered for de-adminship on Chinese Wikisource, so the conflict of interest editing is in that earlier and the recent abusive RFCs. To ask Zhxy 519 to withdraw the abusive RFC and apologize to the community, I need any disinterested third party.--Jusjih (talk) 01:23, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
I'm not "speaking out". I would like to see an RFC to be closed that will be going nowhere, for the reasons I already mentioned. --MF-W 21:58, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
