Subject Wiktionary

Wiktionary is one great project. The wiktionary platform is very useful for subject dictionaries too. I am preparing a Quran Dictionary that will contain all Quran terms in all languages. Until a subject dictionary wiktionary project is approved, I am considering hosting one privately. One wiktionary

What if there are not hundreds of wiktionarys but a big one. For example: for the german word "bier", we find entries in 30 different wiktionarys. and I asked myself: Wouldn't it be easier to have one, where all "languages" submit their words? Wikidiccionary in language Muisca

Hello everyone:

I am not a native speaker of English, so I apologize. I would propose creating a dictionary of language "Muisca" (Muisk kubun). This was the native language of the people Muisca, which dwelt the land of Cundinamarca and Boyacá in Colombia. Actual language "Muisca" is in the process of reconstruction and this would be a good tool for us all. The page could be mu.wiktionary.org/wiki/. I await your responses. Thank you very much. How does one go about adding a New language to this Wiktionary?

Sinhalese -> Sinhala - The correct word

It seems the word Sinhala is used as "Sinhalese" here. I think I made the correction at the wrong place. Where should I make the real correction? --Lee 16:58, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Name of Sindhi language

The name of Sindhi language in the Local Name column must only be written in the LOCAL name as written in SINDH, as سنڌي. It is unfortunate that despite repeatedly pointing out, the name of Sindhi language still appears in a non-Sindhi language and script. It is only Sindhi language, whose LOCAL name appears in Three forms. Only سنڌي should be kept and other two be removed please.

Which language is "Kurdish" here?

There are at least three distinct languages comprised under the name "Kurdish", which ISO 639-3 considers a macrolanguage (Ethnologue), and between them they use three different alphabets: Arabic, Latin, and Cyrillic.

The "Kurdish" Wiktionary is written in the Latin Kurmancî script (including the letters "ç" and "ş", unlike the newer Yekgirtú script). So it is probably Northern Kurdish, which is written with all three alphabets, rather than Southern or Central Kurdish, which both use Arabic writing, according to Ethnologue (although WP says that some speakers of Central, aka Soraní, also use Latin writing).

But which is it actually? This should be made explicit. As it is, it's like referring to "Galicia" without saying whether you mean Galicia in Spain, Galicia in Eastern Europe, or Galicia in the Philippines. --Thnidu (talk) 00:55, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Edited to add: It's not Central Kurdish, because that has a Wiktionary of its own under the name "Sorani", with the language code ckb (Ethnologue, ISO 639-3). Which makes me guess that it's not Southern Kurdish (kmr) either, strengthening the case for Northern Kurdish aka Kurmanji. Please, label it. --Thnidu (talk) 02:49, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Great point. It only lists pa which is Panjabi, but not pnb, Western Punjabi (which is a much larger wiktionary!) –SJ talk  18:52, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Glitch in Scottish Gaelic Admin stat

@Kibi78704: The number "1" in admin's column was updated by a bot. Actually you have a sysop, even though it is not human ;-). In gd:wikt the AbuseFilter has administrator priviledges since it can block users attempting to break some rules. I would just say don't worry about that, this table is not so important. If it is really a probelm, ask a steward to remove the sysop flag from AbuseFilter.--Nastoshka (talk) 14:08, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

The links to the 'external source' return a 'bad gateway error (502)'. The latest updates are from Friday April 13th. I am sure that's just a coincidence, but how do we resolve this problem? --MarcoSwart (talk) 09:19, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Moldovan Wiktionary still listed, despite deletion

Tagalog Wiktionary needs to be improved

I worked with some entries in the Tagalog Wiktionary, but there are no admins that can help, and I rather cover Tagalog in the English Wiktionary. Most of the templates and modules remain in English, and are mostly untranslated. Wikidata linking problem at yuewiktionary

Wikidata linking at Cantonese Wiktionary has been enabled, but every time I try to Wikidata link its main page to the other main pages, I get an error message that reads: "Error: $1. Either provide the Item "ids" or pairs of "sites" and "titles" for corresponding page" when I hit the button to confirm the linking. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? I don't get the sister wiki zh_yue returned as an option when I look to add anything, so it would seem that there is a lookup failing. It doesn't look to be active in the sense of adding interwiki pages.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:14, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your input. Cantonese Wiktionary is at yue instead of zh-yue, so a code conflict could be causing the problem. I will ask at Wikidata to confirm if this is the case. DraconicDark (talk) 15:17, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Mistakes in the table

I noticed a few mistakes in the Wiktionary list table:

1. Moldovan Wiktionary has been deleted and redirects to Romanian Wiktionary, so Moldovan shouldn't be on the table anymore.

2. Alemannic Wiktionary has been deleted and redirects to a namespace in Alemannic Wikipedia. I'm not sure how this should be handled by the table.

3. The table should say "Romansh" instead of "Raeto Romance." Romansh is the language of that Wiktionary, while Rhaeto-Romance is a group of languages.

I'm not sure how to edit the table, which is why I'm pointing this out here. Does anybody know how to fix these issue with the table?

Add Saraiki in the Page

@Sraiki: Thanks for reporting this! Actually it’s expected to be there, but a bug prevents it from appearing (together with the Saraiki Wikipedia on https://www.wikipedia.org/). I’ve reported this bug at phab:T319137, and I hope someone will fix it soon. (By the way, the wikis are listed by their numbers of content pages, which – as shown on the main page – is still slightly less than 100,000, so Saraiki Wiktionary should appear in the 10,000+ category once the bug is fixed.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 23:03, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

In the all projects the order of alphabet of Saraiki language is not correct. Kindly it may be corrected please.
