Views column

Should the Views column be removed? For some reason (who knows which?) many projects have stopped or never started to count "Views" in their Statistics. Therefore the Views column seems not useful anymore, unfortunately. Mutante 12:41, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Please remove it: even if it is recorded, the number is misleading because most of the article views are served from the Squid caches (which aren't counted). GeorgeStepanek 06:36, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

French Wiktionary

What the heck has happened over there? In the last three months they have increased their article count by 300%. It can't be a bot because that just doesn't make sense for a wiktionary, and because the increase has been pretty steady over that period. So what's been causing this monstrous increase? Anyone know? List disappeared

Hi. Why did the list of all Wikt "achievements" disappear? Is there a special reason for this or is it vandalism and someone should re-introduce it? Thanks! --Lou 05:19, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

The list has ben moved to a self-updating external source. RobiH 07:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. But... where? --Lou 15:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
The link reads: External Source. RobiH 15:57, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
OK. Thanks! --Lou 16:40, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Downloading the Ido Wiktionary

Just curious - the Ido Wiktionary is just about at the point where it's almost the size of one of the largest English-Ido dictionaries we have online, and in a month or so it should be the largest dictionary on the internet for the language. Is there a way to turn it into one big HTML or txt document? I've been looking around at some of the pages regarding downloads but I'm still not sure exactly how one uses it besides downloading the whole thing and setting it up as an identical mirror on another site. This is exactly one of the drawbacks of the Wiktionary system. You cannot easily do this. GerardM 14:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Name of Sindhi Language

Dear Administrator,

Kindly do not change the name of Sindhi language from سنڌي to सिनधि; since all the pages of Sindhi wiktionary are in Sindhi-Arabic script. Aursani 16:54, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Modifier

Who is the modifier of the statistics? I'm asking because the stats were not updated. Please answer.

You can all update by pasting from here. I am the creator of the script which creates that wikisyntax automatically though. If there are things to add or problems with it,you can contact me. Mutante 08:08, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Name of Sindhi language

It seems that this page is being VANDALISED. I have requested several times that the name of Sindhi language must not be changed from سنڌي to सिनधि on this page, since all the pages of Sindhi wiktionary are in Sindhi-Arabic script. Moreover, all the inside pages of all Wiktionaries bear the name of Sindhi language as سنڌي and not as सिनधि. Aursani 19:56, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

When the Sindhi language is written in different scripts, and according to the English Wikipedia both Arabic and Devangari are used, it would be good and NPOV to have both scripts represented in your wiktionary.. :) GerardM 21:04, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Done. RobiH 21:29, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Big changes

When there are particularly big changes in any one wiktionary, would you please inform me, this allows me to give preference to this wiktionary because it has the biggest impact on other Wiktionaries.. This can be both in percentages as in absolute numbers (500 additions in a 2000 resource is more than 5000 in a 120.000 resource).. Thanks, GerardM 21:07, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Name of Sindhi language in 3 scripts!

The column of Language (Local) contains name of Sindhi language in 3 different scripts. It is extremely UNJUST to write the name of Sindhi language in other languages in the column of LOCAL. The third seems to be written in Persian or Urdu. It is completely unjustified. Kindly remove the name of Sindhi language written in a foreign language سندھي from the column of LOCAL. Moreover, all the Sindhi pages are in Sindhi Arabic Script that is used officially by the govt. of Sindh. Hence there is no reason of writting the name of the language in devnagri script सिन्ध either.

Kyrgyz vs Kirghiz

This page currently uses the spelling Kirghiz for the language with ISO code ky, but on both the English Wikipedia and English Wiktionary, the preferred spelling is Kyrgyz. Either transliteration is possible from the Cyrillic spelling, but the spelling Kyrgyz has two advantages. First, it more closely matches the ISO code ky. Second, the nation where the language is most widely spoken is spelled Kyrgyzstan, which also is closer to Kyrgyz in spelling. --EncycloPetey 00:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
