This is a conference that currently in draft for chapters and user groups related to East and Southeast Asia to meet up regionally. The project title is still temporary.

During the Wikimania 2014, there are several people from East Asia Region (Addis from WUG-CN, Samuel and Kris from WMHK, Eugene and Joel from WMPH, Ichsan from WMID, Liang from WMTW, Taweetham from Usergroup Thailand, and Anna Koval from Education Team of Wikimedia Foundation) who talked about the purpose to collaborate in a regional way.

Purpose

We would like to make the meetup as a chance of collaboration on practical projects and successful case studies. Through this "mini-Wikimania" we are looking for a chance that chapters involved may share their own experiences on the variety of programmes that their chapters have been participated and allowing that other chapters who are looking for initiate these topics may gain their advices needed.

We do posses interconnect but very distinctive culture between nations across the region because of the geography and history and yet in some non-Wikipedia aspects (e.g. real-world cultural and educational) some active international collaborations within region may be seen. Therefore, we consider that hosting a such event may be a beginning to open up future opportunities of hosting further events between CJK + SEA chapters and user groups, as well as encouraging younger user groups, such as Javanese Wikipedian, to increase their participation on the movement.
