Provide user info in recentchange stream on EventStream platform

  • Problem: Unable to get information about the user without additional API requests.
  • Who would benefit: Patrollers
  • Proposed solution: Provide information (registration date, edits count, groups) about user in recentchange stream on EventStream platform. It's very important for global counter-vandalism tools (SWViewer, etc). It will greatly increase the speed of work, will reduce load to API. For example, if someone wants to patrol recent changes of multiple wikis, for filtering edits we need to send an API request for every edit, which means hundreds of requests per minute! This overloads API, user's network, and user's device (sometimes its mobile device), and ultimately slows speed. This has already been implemented in links stream (see Performer array), but not in recentchange stream.

Discussion

This seems like a good idea, it will make it much easier for tools and their users to filter recent changes. Reducing the load on the API is helpful too. the wub "?!" 23:41, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
