Its a wiki - it can be changed by the users. Dont try to censor it
editYou are hiding the most important question somewhere in the back of the discussion - what a shame. --Eingangskontrolle 18:54, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- I do not understand your complaint. Are you unhappy that new comments are added to the end of the page? Putting them at the top means that fewer people will see them. WhatamIdoing 16:54, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Reply to your question in Global Ban talk
editHello WAID, I thought I would reply here instead of putting more 'off subject' text on that Global Ban talk page. The article was Timeshare on Wikipedia. After reviewing the vandal's text, it really wasn't profanity; but rather Stupid Gibberish. He replaced a 35,000 character article with this: "WHAT IS A TIME SHARE GLAD YOU ASKED BECAUSE I HAVE NO ENTIRE CLUE WHAT IT IS I LOOKED IT UP AND NOTHING COMPLETELY NOTHING AND IF YOUR READING THIS THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR BRAIN TO NOT GO TO STUPID DUMB WEBSITES SO YES I DONT KNOW WHAT A TIME SHARE IS I DONT EVEN KNOW IF IM SPELLING IT RITE SO I DONT KNOW THAT YOU GOODBYE TO YOU HAVE A GOOD WONDERFUL DAY ENJOY THE WEATHER OUTSIDE AND HAVE A GREAT ONE SMELL THE WATER HM I DONT EVEN THING YOU CAN SMELL WATER BUT UM SMELL A FLOWER THAN OH WAIT THERE MIGHT BE A BEE SO DONT SMELL YOU DOG! THATS OUTSIDE RITE TTHATS A GOOD ONE OKAY NOW BYE THANK YOU". On the log, it seems to show that a user fixed it in the same moment it happened, however, on my watchlist where I saw this initially, one hour had passed before it was fixed. All is good there now, and many have promised to keep their eye on the article. The Timeshare Industry Sales people put up a pretty big stink about their Sales Practices and History, as well as the Criticism section. Things have calmed down now, and all is well. We made some concession edits to appease those opposed to the truth being told, and it has seemed to put the problem to rest. Best of luck with the Global Ban issue my friend. Respectfully, Pocketthis (talk) 14:36, 18 July 2012 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Pocketthis
- The log is accurate: it was fixed in about eight seconds. Watchlists are not always current, and there was a huge delay a while ago that would have made it look like it hadn't been fixed, even though it had, if you were relying on your watchlist's report instead of looking directly at the page. (That's what those lag warnings at the top of the watchlist page are about.) WhatamIdoing (talk) 15:48, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the education. I won't rely on my Watchlist in the futre, but rather the Article Page. Thanks. Pocketthis (talk) 16:32, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Exit interview question
editHi. I made a slight adjustment to your exit interview question in this edit. I felt it was an improvement, but if you feel otherwise, please feel free to revert me.
Thanks, by the way, for adding a question. :-) I think there's going to be a very short blurb in the upcoming Signpost soliciting questions for this page and it'll probably hit the mailing lists. I posted to Wikimedia Forum as well, but let me know if there are any other parts of the wiki universe you think might be interested in this (or share the link yourself, of course). --MZMcBride (talk) 03:56, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
P.S. Some chat related to the page's title on User talk:Jan-Bart, if you have any interest.
- That seems like an improvement to me. Thanks. WhatamIdoing (talk) 15:04, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Global user page migration
editHello WhatamIdoing. I deleted your local user pages on all wikis as you requested via Synchbot, and your global user page is already active. You can see the deletion log on your archive page. :) —Pathoschild 18:42, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017
editHi WhatamIdoing, I don’t know if you remember me from en.wikipedia? Anyway I decided to try and contact you after seeing these "Cloud_tables" and the accompanying talkpage section. I noted that the topic of this page is in the news quite a bit (even in Canada) and the fact that the article is rated B class on several projects, so was surprised to see this amateurish looking table has survived on this page for almost a month. I don't visit the en.wikipedia much nowadays, have the standards changed much recently?Ottawahitech (talk) 15:19, 7 December 2017 (UTC) Please ping me
- Of course I remember you.
- That's pretty ugly. I assume that it persists because nobody's willing to spend time transforming it into a proper MOS:ACCESS-compliant table. WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:09, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
- FYI The cloud section remains unsourced even though Tax reform passed both house and senate and is now law in the United States. This page received almost 21,000 views yesterday, sigh... Ottawahitech (talk) 16:13, 21 December 2017 (UTC) Please ping me
- That feels like the kind of thing that is rarely wrong, though, and to the extent that they explain the concept of an income tax bracket, they're probably serving a valuable education purpose despite having no little blue clicky numbers next to them. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:33, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
- Idle speculation: Looks like google also does not like this article.
- I have been trying in vain to locate it on Wikipedia (could not remember the exact name). Gave up on wiki search after traversing categories and lists, and decided to get google to help. I have used google before when I had trouble locating information on wikipedia and have always been impressed by how much better it found articles on wikipedia. Not this time though, I had to come to your page on meta to find w:Tax_Cuts_and_Jobs_Act_of_2017 :-) Ottawahitech (talk) 13:32, 22 December 2017 (UTC) Please ping me
- It's only about six weeks old, and was created by an editor without advanced userrights, so it might not be patrolled for indexing. WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:54, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

- Wow, thanks for this tidbit, I had no idea! So the only thing that determines if a wiki-article is viewable by the outside world is the the standing of the user who started it? It does not matter who and how many have contributed to the article after it was started? BTW, Clicking Revision history statistics (in revision history) used to tell me whether the page is indexed. I guess the WMF decided that wiki-users are not entitled to this information anymore? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:04, 23 December 2017 (UTC) Please ping me
- As with all things on enwiki, I assume it's more complicated than that. I know that if I created a page, it would be eligible for search-engine indexing immediately, and that pages created by newer editors at enwiki are not. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:55, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

The Community Wishlist Survey
editHi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Community Wishlist Survey 2019 - Section Name in Diff
editHello!
The Community Tech team (WMF) has officially started the project for Section Name in Diff, the #9 wish from the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey!
You previously voted for this wish, so we are now contacting you. We invite you to visit the project page, where you can read a project analysis and share your feedback.
We hope to see you on the project talk page, and thank you in advance!
The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!
18:25, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!

Share your feedback on the OCR improvements!
editHello, everyone! We (the team responsible for the Community Wishlist Survey) have just launched the project for OCR improvements! With this project, we aim to improve the experience of using OCR tools on Wikisource. Please refer to our project page, which provides a full summary of the project and the main problem areas that we have identified.
We would then love if you could answer the questions below. Your feedback is incredibly important to us and it will directly impact the choices we make. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to reading your feedback!
Update to commentlinks.js gadget
editI am about to update my comment links gadget to link the comment's timestamp rather than add a separate [ link ] button. If you prefer the old style, that gadget will be available at commentlinks-v1.js. As before, this gadget is experimental and may stop working at any time, see T275729 for the task to make this a proper feature. Thanks, ESanders (WMF) (talk) 12:09, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- @ESanders (WMF), I'm looking forward to trying out the new style. WhatamIdoing (talk) 15:12, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
