Translation combination boxes

edit

The following text was copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translator, it may be of any interest to you:

Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).

Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.

Thank you :)

Election translation

edit

Hi Damian, how are you doing? I checked candidate presentations right now and found Spanish translation is not yet complete. I think we are better to aim fairness in all times, and specially in this case: all voters can read all presentation in a same condition. Just as in French or Japanese.

Presentation in Spanish: Election_candidates_2006/Es

Zuirdj recommend you as his successor of translation coordinator of Spanish, so I came here to talk with you. Could you please cheer up Spanish editors to finish this works? Please use translators-l to deal with things, if you may want. Cheers, --Aphaia 07:46, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

P.S. and also good luck to your IRC problems ...

Thank you Damian

Traducciones a castellano

edit

Saludos.--Elisardojm 14:10, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

;) --Jduranboger 01:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Macedonia

Hi Damian. I'm member of the Initiative Board of Wikimedia Macedonia, and I want to ask you about the news of the approval of our organization. Few weeks ago, I sent an e-mail to ChapCom in which I presented the news about our local chapter. I received the information about the meeting of the Committee at Wikimania 2009, and the potential approvals for Wikimedia Macedonia, and Wikimedia Finland. The Wikimania ended, but there aren't informations about the meeting of the Committee, and we didn't receive an e-mail yet. Nowadays, I'm active on Meta, and you can write some news here. You can also contact me, by sending an e-mail on tha address: kiril.simeonovski@gmail.com. I hope that our cooperation will carry on. Best regards. Wikimania 2013 Bidding

edit

Dear editor,

You are getting this message because you have edited a Wikimania bidding page for 2013.

Many have said that the bidding needs to be brought forward to give teams longer to organise the conference, to enable it to be run more professionally and smoother and to give teams more time to arrange things like sponsorship which can take significant amounts of time. This year an active effort is being made to bring the start of official bidding to before the fundraiser (around September/October, to have a longer bidding period that will run till the end of January and a decision made by the end of February.

Although this clashes with the fundraiser, the significantly longer bidding period is to give those teams from chapters involved in the fundraiser more time. It should hopefully allow teams to create better and more detailed bids. Going forward the idea would be that eventually the bidding would occur entirely before the fundraiser. I though it best to not jump immediately to this to not catch teams off guard.

Just to recap: Bidding will start in September/October and not in January

Any thoughts and comments on this would be greatly appreciated.
