Welcome to Meta!

Hello Bugoslav, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing! Ottava Rima (talk) 22:01, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Bugoslav.

This is the procedure done when the vote is not in accordance with the instructions for voting. Just look at previous elections (votes Stewards 2009 and Stewards 2010), that ineligible votes are scratched with a form of notification and to assist in the audit. In this 2011 election has already been scratched votes that were not in accordance with the instructions ([1] [2] [3]). Instructions for voting will not necessarily say that the username should be the same goal from the home wiki, but have an account on Meta with userpage linked to your homewiki, and a link to your meta account from your homewiki userpage. Bad translation

edit

When you type sentence, first word must be uppercase. Jest, radim puno radno vrijeme. is a sentence. But your edit of this sentence is; jest, radim puno radno vrijeme. This is not correct.--Anton 008 12:00, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

With reference to this communiqué: diff

Hello Anton008,

The sequence you are referring to (diff) "jest, radim puno radno vrijeme." could be considered a mere typo. It is not the case of bad translation as you put it. If and when somebody declares, that the sequence in question is in fact an independent sentence, then it might be written as such i.e.; at the beginning of that sentence (first word) might be written with the capital letter. The sequence might also work without the full stop (period). We can discuss that, can't we?

When making a list, one should always remember that if the list is numbered, or delimited with graphic marks, such as buttons, then parts of the sequence might not be considered an independent sentence, but instead as parts of a sentential form. You should look at a orthography manual of the Croatian language. E.g. Babić, Stjepan; Finka, Božidar; Moguš, Milan. Hrvatski pravopis, V. – prerađeno izd., Zagreb : Školska knjiga, 2000., ISBN 953-0-40017-9, §§ 354., 355. and 387..

You ought to also take a look at this diff. I refer to "Ne slažem se sa wikipedijinom politikam i praksama." This sentence had both a typo and a mistranslation. Why? Namely, the original (in the English language) states that it is about policies (plural) and not a policy (singular). Plus the question of s/sa.

Since you believe that the sequences (two) in question should be made sentences, I'll correct those two typos – just on a provisional basis – until we reach some agreement on the issue. For example Q4a and some other parts of the questionnaire are using a different format i.e.; small letters at the beginning of some selected answers. There are also a lot of mixed situations with some answers written with the full stop, and some without – in the same question.

This is why we use orthography manuals, single column dictionaries, and other prescriptive and descriptive literature of the Croatian language. This is why we read books.

There is still a lot that needs to be done. I hope that this clarifies a few dilemmas you might have. Thanks for understanding this message. Yours truly, -- Bugoslav 15:47, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Translation of Central Notice

edit

We say kandidat, not predloženik (diff). Also, on all Croatian pages about Wikimedia is Odbor povjerenika, not Skrbnički odbor like you wrote. Please, check Wikimedia Foundation site and pages about Wikimedia on this links;

On all this pages is:

Tko su članovi Wikimedijinog Odbora povjerenika?

Wikimedijin Odbor povjerenika najviši je korporativni autoritet u Zakladi Wikimedija te ima moć određivati aktivnosti Zaklade.

Even administrator on hr.wiki said Odbor povjerenika;

Please stop using translation that only you can understand.--Anton 008 11:25, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Anton008,

Anton008, please refrain from using different Wikimedia projects as valid sources for the translations you make.

The translation at wikimediafoundation.org was made by two editors (listed ones), one of whom is not an admin at hr.wiki.

Also this translation contains several abrogations from someone's rule of use whatever is listed on the wikimedia projects since it doesn't contain words like zaklada and such.

As for the translation of trustee as povjerenik, this is not what was written on Meta, nor what is writing just now.

The same way, one might say that since we translate the word template as predložak, and not as šablona f (which comes from German language),

We have words like, predlagač (predlagačica), prijedlog, predložiti, and predloženik (Vorgeschlagene) too. One might use even pristupnik (but in a different context), as well as predlagatelj (which is also dependent on the context).

If you do not know some words, please allow the fact that others know and use these words, words that are not mere Latin loan-words (word borrowed from Latin).

Please use literature, and explain who is We (?) that you mentioned in the first sentence, as well as what do you mean by "Please stop using translation that only you can understand."?

If you believe that I am the only one who understands these translations, I'm afraid that you are greatly mistaken in your beliefs.

Also, I see that you did not answer to this diff. Why is that? -- Bugoslav 13:19, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Translator, We need you!

edit

Dear Bugoslav,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.

Many Thanks

Zahvaljujem poštovani Bugoslave, na pozdravu i spremnosti na pomoći. Ja sam praktično samo aktivan na viki na srpskom jeziku, to ne znači da odbijam saradnju, naprotiv sa zadovoljstvom je prihvatam. Pozdrav --Sahara 18:44, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
