Strange edit to Global message delivery/Targets/Tech ambassadors edit

Hi, I just wanted to ask why you did this edit. I'm not active on that Wikipedia, and own the SUL, so no-one else can have that username. Thanks, Mdann52 (talk) 10:04, 9 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Global JS edit

Do you need help creating global JS? PiRSquared17 (talk) 15:37, 16 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

No thanks. I use few wikis. --Arystanbek (talk) 15:52, 16 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

  1. Intro
  2. Requests
  3. WM_News/Note
  4. Community_and_communication
  5. Core_issues_and_collaboration
  6. Sisterprojects
  7. Wikimedia_Foundation

Будет здорово, если Заглавная страница на казахском будет наконец нормально оформлена. --Kaganer (talk) 20:07, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

TemplateScript edit

Hello Arystanbek. I updated your common.js page to the latest version of TemplateScript. This is mainly to enable automatic updates, but it also includes a few fixes. If you notice any problems or have questions, let me know! :) —Pathoschild 00:49, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Superprotect status edit

Dear Arystanbek, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.

Global CSS/JS migration edit

Hello Arystanbek. You have a global.js page which contains your global scripts. Since August 19th, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis (see announcement). Since you load them manually on some wikis, you may experience script errors or issues like tools being added twice. I can fix that for you by merging your local scripts and styles into your global pages, and deleting the local pages with synchbot. Do you want me to do that? —Pathoschild 17:38, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi again! Feel free to add a Synchbot request or leave a message if you want me to do this; for now I'll strike you off the list. :) —Pathoschild 21:11, 21 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Re: edit

Sorry but I didn't notice your message which was buried under pile of vandalisms and gibberish. You seem to be using a VPN provider, you should be able to circumvent the block by disabling it while editing Wikipedia. --Vituzzu (talk) 23:33, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Re: Automatically update statistics with your bot edit

Hi. I'm replying here in Meta because you left me your first message here; sorry for the delay, my time is always short. I would be happy to include your Wikipedia in the statistics update, but there are several issues that need to be clarified or configured first:

  • In principle I prefer to keep as much as possible the format used in other projects in order to avoid complications in programming and configuration; that would include putting the order/position as the first column, keeping the layout and, above all, using two subpages, /begin and /end, for the headers and footers of the table and any possible additional information, categories, etc. Is that ok? Can I count on you to check if all that looks good after my preparation work?
  • I understand that the list should only include users who don't have the bot flag, which would include bots that don't need to have it or have lost it due to inactivity. Is that ok? (there are solutions to that, but they would require work on your side).
  • So far the ranking of active users in other projects has always taken into account the edits of the last 7 days and not the last 30. Changing it for you implies adding one more parameter in the configuration; it is easy to do and I can assume that change, but please confirm me if you are really interested in making it 30 or if it makes no difference to keep 7.

I am waiting for your indications to start the preparations soon. Best regards, -jem- (talk) 15:09, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@-jem- approximately one week I can't contact you because internet is down in my country.
  1. /begin subpage: kk:Уикипедия:Белсенді қатысушылар/begin, /end subpage: kk:Уикипедия:Белсенді қатысушылар/end (all included: additional information, template, shortcat, navigation template, categories
  2. Yes
  3. Must include all users that performed at least 10 action in last 30 days, because we have very small community. The information should be taken from this special page: kk:Special:ActiveUsers Thank you! Arystanbek (talk) 07:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@-jem- why is some data not correct? For example, according to this page I made 117 action. But bot says only 6 action. --Arystanbek (talk) 12:56, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. Yes, I know from the news of the difficult situation in your country; I hope things will be settled soon. As you have already seen, I just set up and launch the daily update of your page following your indications, and in principle I see only two issues for you to check/solve:
  • There are four columns in the table header, but my update only includes three. The only project where there are four columns is uzwiki, and there the fourth is a list of permissions for each user that is taken from an existing template manually maintained there (uz:Template:Permissions); if you're interested in the same system, let me know when you've created the template to make the changes.
  • The text for the bot edit summary, which should be the translation to your language of "Updating ranking", is missing.
About the difference in the numbers: the reason is that this ranking is intended to reflect strictly encyclopedic activity, and that's why the data query takes into account only article edits and creations, and only in the main namespace, while the special MediaWiki page also counts log actions and takes into account all namespaces. -jem- (talk) 13:15, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@-jem-: we have already the same template: kk:Үлгі:Permissions. "Updating ranking" → "Рейтингті жаңарту". If it is possible we need not only article namespace must include all namespace and all log actions like Special:ActiveUsers. --Arystanbek (talk) 13:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. This last request is an important problem. The usefulness and reason for existence of my ranking is measuring encyclopedic activity in a way that the special MediaWiki page cannot provide, and simply showing activity in the way the special page already does is a duplication of the kind that as a rule I avoid, so that both code maintenance and edits made cannot be considered unnecessary, worsening the image of my bot and my work. The best thing to do for your case is to get the special page to display the data in order of number of edits, which in fact has been requested for a long time in phab:T25237, so the first thing would be for you to try to push that task directly and/or through the Community Wishlist Survey 2022, that has just started. In the meantime, let me know if you prefer me to stop my bot, or to continue working as I have been doing so far and include the use of the permissions template and the translation. Greetings, -jem- (talk) 14:42, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@-jem-: Ok, I understand. Please do not stop the bot. And use the permissions template. One more thing, only include users who made more than 10 edits --Arystanbek (talk) 15:08, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, done; the update for today uses the template and the translation, and stops at 10 edits (but currently nobody has 10 edits, so the last ones have 11). -jem- (talk) 13:33, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@-jem- I'm so grateful for your help! Arystanbek (talk) 15:13, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
