Your candidacy as drafter edit

You are a Movement Charter drafting candidate listed at Movement_Charter/Drafting_Committee/Candidates#Zhong_Juechen_(三猎).

I am from the United States and have no experience with Chinese Wikipedia beyond talking with editors there who join English language conversations elsewhere. You have not participated in many English wiki discussions so I am limited in what I can learn about you without asking others.

Thanks for filling out your positions at https://mcdc-election-compass.toolforge.org/ I liked some of what you had to say in the comments you posted there.

I would like to ask you in particular - you criticized the concept of the Global Council and wanted limited bureaucracy. Do you have an alternative in mind? The current system is centralization at the Wikimedia Foundation, which is likely to remain the status quo without an alternative. The Global Council is the wiki community's most supported proposed alternative to that, and opposition to that seems strange to me without an explanation.

Can you say more about your position? Thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:59, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Bluerasberry: Chinese and American culture are different in various aspects, one of which is that Chinese people are ashamed of their not-that-perfect skills. My English may be good enough for our communication like this, but I, as a Chinese, am still shy of not able to speak like a native, which is probably the reason why I do not participate in English discussions as much as I do in Chinese.
Thank you very much for your question. I reread the statements and found my mistake. To me, the statement 27 (the Global Council should be a counter voice to the Wikimedia Foundation) suggested something like "two bodies against each other at the same time". So, when I was filling out the sheet, I thought the statement 34 (The Global Council should eventually become the governing body of a new international Wikimedia organization) the same way. To me, it was like "we already have an old one, and now another new one". That's why I was against the statement and said "no more, thanks". Also, the English word "govern" corresponds to two Chinese words alike but a little bit different. I understood the word "govern" in the statement 34 more like 统治 instead of 治理, which is why I was against it.
To clarify, I am not trying to criticize the concept of the Global Council itself. I agree it is one of the better and more practical alternatives.
Thank you very much for letting me realize my mistake and giving me a good chance to clarify my ideas. ——三猎 (talk) 15:38, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
