Wikipedia is an essential tool in the fact-checking process for any researcher alongside the fight against mis/dis information. To Bridging the Gap: Using Wikipedia To Fight Climate Denialism, the community of volunteers will be reviewing climate-related articles in Africa which are not available on the sum of all human knowledge by making contributions through creating (new) or editing (existing) content.

What participants are expected to look out for when contributing.

Creating new climate-related articles.
Editing existing climate-related articles (i.e grammatical errors, broken links, blear images, etc).
Adding citation, infoboxes, Wikilinks, categories, and expanding climate-related articles.
Uploading climate-related media files on commons and using them on other Wikipedia and Wikidata.
Also contributing in any local language available on the wiki-space is encouraged (eg. Hausa, Swahili, Afrikaans, Arabic etc)

How to create a Wikipedia article

Sign up in the Google Doc.
Create your Wikipedia User Account. (If you do not have one already.) Watch how to create an account.
Also to create a new article, watch a video on how to create a new article.
Sign up with your Wikipedia username to the cumulative dashboard as well us countries dashboard respectively.

Find an article of interest that needs to be improved. Or find topics that need their articles created. Click here to view the list of articles.

Image Uploads edit

All images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and should not be copyrighted, also all countries would have an image category where images would be categorized by country.

How to Upload an image to Wikimedia Commons

Sign in or Create a New Account on Wikimedia Commons.
Log-in into the dashboard.
Prepare your photos and name them as well.
Use our Upload Button at the top the page or Upload Wizard to upload as many as you can.
For each country there would be a Master/Universal Category and a Country Specific Category. List is below:
- Code for Africa Climate Project - Universal Repository
- Code for Africa Climate Project Images from Kenya - Only Kenya
And wait patiently for the results! All the best!

Matrix edit

Tracking of ongoing engagement will be done using the Programs & Events Dashboard under the Hashtag #CfACP. Therefore, to enable tracking volunteers must use the hashtag when creating new or editing an article.
