editYou said cs interface text published? Where? I am confused. --Aphaia 08:27, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry to confuse you. I have committed the cs-interface into SVN, see rev:23501. de-interface is up-to-date too. But maybe I am wrong about the workflow: Do the SPI wiki update the messages manually or do they sync against SVN? Maybe I was wrong about the status? --Raymond de 08:34, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Only manually by sysop hand. Tim said so. --Aphaia 08:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks, good to know. --Raymond de 08:41, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

editHi, Raymond. As for "redirecting", now we need local (dewiki*) sysop hand. I don't know if it can be changed widely on our side. --Aphaia 10:55, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Aphaia, I have committed the translations this morning with rev:23540 into SVN, after the last scap by Tim this translation is available for all German speaking projects, see de:Spezial:MediaWiki-Systemnachrichten. No further sysop action is needed on these projects. --Raymond de 11:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh lovely. Could you please take care of other language versions, if you are interested? --Aphaia 11:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. Done with rev:23550 for ca: fr: and zh: But now I am offline, travelling to Frankfurt for the Wikimedia chapter meeting and workshops this weekend. --Raymond de 13:17, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Vielen Dank, gute Reise und schoenes Wochenende! --Aphaia 13:55, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikimedia Travel Guide: Naming poll open
editHi there,
You are receiving this message because you voiced your opinion at the Request for Comment on the Wikimedia Travel Guide.
The proposed naming poll opened a few days ago and you can vote for as many of the proposed names as you wish, if you are eligible. Please see Travel Guide/Naming Process for full details on voting eligibility and how the final name will be selected. Voting will last for 14 days, and will terminate on 16 October at 06:59:59 UTC.
Localisation files
editImagine if we could say that we passed from 100 to 0 Wikimedia projects without a localisation file. :) [1] The creation of all those files since 2007 is largely a consequence of your and Siebrand's work since then, really impressive. --Nemo 13:17, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Raymond de. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Raymond de~metawiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.
As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.
An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.
The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that OTRS volunteers sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.
Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign
If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.
Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

The Community Wishlist Survey
editHi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
This is a reminder to acknowledge and sign the new Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information. As you know, your volunteer role in Wikimedia projects gives you access to secure and sensitive information.
The new version includes one major change.
- There is a change regarding the way personal data may be released. Accordingly, functionaries must notify the Wikimedia Foundation at check-disclosure wikimedia.org before releasing data, in order to obtain a written approval for doing so. The Foundation will respond within 10 days. However, for emergencies, such as cases involving threats of violence, functionaries may release the personal data without such explicit permission, but they should notify the Foundation immediately following the disclosure. If they choose not to disclose the data, the request for disclosure should be forwarded to the Foundation's emergency email address (emergency wikimedia.org).
There are also some wording changes that were made to more closely align the language with evolving industry norms, best practices and laws. The most notable of these has been the change of the term "nonpublic information" to "nonpublic personal data". None of these changes are intended to make fundamental changes to the scope or practice of the policy but we know they could appear as such, hence wanted to flag them.
The aforementioned changes require users that have already signed the previous version of the policy to sign the new version as well.
We therefore ask that you to sign the updated version. Signing the agreement is tracked on Phabricator's Legalpad. An online guide is available to help you with signing the agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign. If you wish you can sign it directly at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/L37. The exact policy is located here: Access to nonpublic personal data policy. The text of the confidentiality agreement is located here: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information
If you have already received this message and signed the updated agreement, you need not sign it again. Once is sufficient. In this case, we ask that you respond to Samuel (WMF) letting him know when (date) and how (method/process of signing) you have signed it so that we can update our own records.
Note: please bear in mind that if you still haven’t signed the updated version of the Confidentiality Agreement by February 13, 2019 your rights will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding,
Samuel Guebo (User:Samuel (WMF)), Wikimedia Foundation

A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.
While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), we are asking your help for Chinese, Ukrainian, Bengali, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Polish, Farsi, German, Cantonese, Finnish, Hindi, Thai, Dutch, and Greek, as these also matter to affiliates! If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 21:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
Oversight request
edit@Rama, PierreSelim, and Odder: please confirm you have received my oversight request on the oversight-commons list. Is there anything you need or anything you're waiting for? — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 13:24, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: We've received your request and it is currently being discussed on the mailing list. No further information is required at the minute, however please bear in mind it's going to take us a couple of days to respond to your message. Thanks, odder (talk) 21:28, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Odder: Thanks. As an outsider there's not really any way to see if a request even made it to the list correctly. I'm glad it has. Let me know when you come to a conclusion or need anything. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 21:46, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Rama, PierreSelim, and Odder: Any status update? If you are still discussing the matter that's okay. I just want to ensure the topic hasn't entered limbo. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 17:01, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: Sorry — this is indeed still being discussed on the mailing list and hasn't been forgotten. Please bear with us ;) odder (talk) 20:41, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Odder: is there any kind of ETA you could give me? I won't hold it against you like a deadline, I just get a bit nervous checking for messages several times a day. If I know it'll take at least (for example) another week I won't have to check so frequently anymore, that would help me relax a little. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 18:32, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: Apologies for the delay. We've discussed the matter on the mailing list and have agreed that none of the content you requested for review falls under the oversight policy. The policy only allows suppression of content in the four cases that it explicitly enumerates, and based on our reading of the policy and our joint experience in applying on Commons, we do not believe that your request falls within the purview of the oversight team. Thank you for your understanding, and apologies for this belated response. odder (talk) 09:03, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Odder: aargh.. I respect your decision, but if that is the conclusion I don't understand why it had to take well over a week. I've just dropped a new mail on your mailing list. (please confirm you got it) This is just crazy. This kind of defamation is actually illegal (I've been reading a little about it), yet there is no proper procedure to get it redacted. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 10:06, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: The message has just arrived and given its content, I wish to have nothing further to do with this matter. I gave you the response from the Commons oversight team; if you disagree with our reading of the oversight policy, please refer to the ombudspeople or directly to the Wikimedia Foundation as this has now reached a point well above my pay grade (which is £0). This is my last statement in this case. odder (talk) 10:22, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Odder: I'm not saying I disagree with your reading, I think it's technically correct. I just feel like I've gotten in a situation that on the face of it could be resolved relatively easily by various parties by talking to the checkusers, confirming that the accusations are inaccurate and making a statement on-wiki that says just that. The regular admin team could probably take it from there. Yet after almost a month (T&S and OS combined) nobody seems to be in any position to take action. Admins can't act because they can't verify the inaccuracy with the checkusers as the checkusers say they'd violate privacy policy. T&S prefers not to curate wikis and tells me to contact OS instead, OS can't do anything unless they have an order from Legal and Legal hasn't spoken up yet. The ombudsman doesn't appear to have done anything yet either, and it may not be within their scope anyway: defamation by checkusers is probably not covered by the checkuser/oversight policies. I'm getting desperate. How can this be real?
- My pay grade is the same as yours by the way. The stress all this has given me is just too much. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 11:28, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
