VRT Recruits

This is true so far. You can apply at any time, and advise in which existing fields you want to help, or which new fields you would like to introduce. What does not work is to say "Here I am, now please assign me a task.", because this is not the way our volunteer culture is. Hi. I have access to VRT, and I saw the existence of the global authorization (which for some reason I did not receive), and I thought that perhaps for documentation purposes I should receive the authorization. Question re: streamlining

Hi, Krd - VRT's "canned" response after receiving an image license should be automated at the time of upload to eliminate that step. IOW, the process submits to VRT the name and location of the uploaded image at the same time it generates the ticket sent to us. It would make things far more efficient. If it cannot be automated, we could at least advise the uploader to include that info with their license release instead of adding that extra step. Atsme^📞📧 19:41, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Apologies for the tardy response. What I am suggesting would take place at the VRTS release generator where the user chooses if they are either the copyright holder or represent the copyright holder (I think it's JavaScript). When they click on one of the 2 choices, they are asked to provide more information. Can we, at that point, simply add another box that requests the url of the image? I'm not a tech, but isn't that license information the info we get in the queue? If not, can it be added to whatever process sends us the information so that we don't have to take that extra step each time? Atsme^📞📧 14:05, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

File verification

Dear Krd, I'm writing to address a recent issue involving a photo that was mistakenly removed from Wikimedia Commons out of concern for its license: File:Virginio Simonelli shot by Marco Melfi.jpg. It is a photo of Italian singer-songwriter Virginio Simonelli shot by the Italian photographer Marco Melfi, and also uploaded on Wikimedia by Marco himself.

I've been updating Virginio's Wikipedia for many years, as a fan. One day, I complimented Marco Melfi on a photoshoot he did of Virginio and I mentioned that his Wikipedia page has a very old picture, the one that appears now on the page. Marco saw that very low quality photo, and disliked it so much that he offered to upload one of his photos as replacement. He considered it a homage, and he did so immediately. Indeed, he used his personal mail to create the account "Marco Duck", and you can easily check that if you contact him on that mail. After that, I happily used his beautiful photo on Virginio's Wiki page. Despite Marco flagging the file as 'his own work', it still got tagged as missing permission by Gbawden, back on September 25th. I hadn't noticed that, but Marco immediately contacted me for help, because when user Gbawden did that, Marco received an automatic mail from Wikimedia that asked him to confirm his identity by sending a mail to the OTRS/VRT-volunteers. I told him he should send an email in which he stated that it's him and then wait for your reply. Now it's almost a week later and yet the file still doesn't appear to be verified. I am wondering, did you guys receive the correct e-mail from Marco? Or Marco didn't give you enough information to confirm his identity? Should I tell him to send another mail, and in that case, what does he have to write for it to be okay? Or the email Marco sent was okay and we just have to wait? Please let me know! Marco only speaks job-related intermediate English and does not understand the full Wikipedia system, so I'm trying to help him figure it all out. It's a shame to lose such a beautiful photo for a mistake.

Hallo Krd, ich steh' gerade auf'm Schlauch, irgendwo gibt's doch so eine Seite, wo man Fragen zu Tickets an VRT stellen kann -- und ich finde sie einfach nicht wieder. Ich finde nur eine Seite, wo Ihr Admins nach Sprachen geordnet aufgelistet seid, daher schreibe ich Dich jetzt einfach mal direkt an.

Es geht um dieses Bild. Da steht als Urheber "Michael Bader", als Fotograf unten in den Exif-Daten dagegen "Stefan Mays". Das kann ja nun zumindest nach deutschem Urheberrecht nicht sein. Was besagt denn das Ticket, kannst Du das mal überprüfen?

Request for information on deleting my user page

Bonjour Krd,

Je me permets de vous contacter suite à la suppression de ma page utilisateur intitulée "User:N. LA LÉGENDE" le 12 décembre 2024, pour la raison mentionnée : "Spam, Out of project scope".

Je souhaiterais comprendre plus précisément en quoi ma page ne respectait pas les règles de la plateforme. Mon intention n’était pas de violer les politiques du site, mais simplement de partager mon parcours et mes projets.

Serait-il possible de me guider pour que je puisse recréer une page conforme aux attentes du projet ? Je suis prêt à apporter les ajustements nécessaires pour que tout soit en règle.
