WikiGap Challenge 2022
editHi! As one of the participants of the WikiGap Challenge 2021, I wanted to inform you that we have launched the 2022 edition of the Challenge – and you are of course more than welcome to join! The landing page of the challenge is on this page. This year, due to the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we are extending the Challenge to 8 May. I hope this might give some extra time for everyone to take part.
As last year, the UN Human Rights Office has nominated some 25 women human rights defenders, this year specifically focusing on women active within the fields of environment and climate. Writing articles about these women yield bonus points.
Feel free to join, and reach out if you have any questions! Josefine Hellroth Larsson (WMSE) (talk) 16:17, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Block on ttwiki
editHello Il Nur, I noticed that my account has been blocked on the Tatar Wikipedia for a duration of 3 months, with account creation disabled. I respectfully request clarification regarding the reason for this block, as I did not receive any prior warning or explanation.
As part of my cross-wiki patrol work, I placed deletion tags on pages that, in my view, met the relevant criteria for deletion based on content issues. If there was any misunderstanding or if my actions were not aligned with local policy, I would have appreciated a notice or talk page discussion beforehand so I could understand and adjust accordingly.
Could you kindly let me know:
- What specific actions led to the block?
- Was there a particular policy or guideline I violated?
- Is there a way to resolve this matter through discussion or appeal?
🌸 Sakura emad 💖 (talk) 10:18, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I thought you were a cross wiki spam, as you started marking important pages for deletion. Please don't do this anymore. I will remove the lock. Il Nur (talk) 10:22, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Il Nur Could you please point out which “important” pages I marked for deletion?
- As far as I recall, the ones I tagged were mostly orphaned talk pages, and some of them were later deleted by global sysops as well.
- Even if I was mistaken in some cases, wouldn’t experienced global sysops have flagged it if there was an issue? 🌸 Sakura emad 💖 (talk) 10:26, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

- Please, you don't need to mark something in the wiki for deletion. We have 5 administrators and we manage on our own. Thanks for understanding. Il Nur (talk) 10:55, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- i appreciate if you explain as to why you think the orphaned talk page of ''Бәхәс:Баш бит/Өске өлеш'' is considered important,is it because it is subpage of the Main Page’s talk page? is it Symbolic sensitivity? or Cultural preservation? or Lack of cleanup culture or policy?
- As for your concerns about global patrollers: I understand the hesitation,it doesn't work like that, rather by default, all Wikimedia projects are subject to cross-wiki patrolling and actions by global users (such as global sysops or SWMT).
- If your community prefers to limit or exclude such activity, it must formally opt out by reaching a local consensus and requesting it on Meta. 🌸 Sakura emad 💖 (talk) 11:46, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Sakura emad: your approach here is not correct. Global patrollers exist to assist projects in dealing with spam and vandalism - global sysops are not "better" than local admins, and in fact it is the opposite; global users should defer to local ones. If someone raises a complaint about your activity with global rights or as a global patroller, the correct response is to apologize and not do that again. Also noting that this has happened before at Stewards' noticeboard/Archives/2023-02#Remove global rollback for User:Sakura emad - please take a bit more care when patrolling. – Ajraddatz (talk) 14:34, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. Il Nur (talk) 15:51, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- First of all, discussions should be archived, not deleted, according to our rules. Secondly, you marked the discussion page for deletion, which warned that this was not a TatWiki discussion page, but a discussion page on the main page. Once again, I ask you not to do such things in our project. Il Nur (talk) 15:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
