Welcome to Meta!
editHello, ANDY-DANTE. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Happy editing!
The "ban message"
editYou have asked Matanya and on Talk:Steward requests/Global to be unbanned, but there is no sign that you are banned. Your block record is clean, no blocks recorded. I'm suspecting you may have run into a hard block of your IP address. To know better how to help you, the complete message you received is needed, not just part of it. You wrote that it was "((The block was made by Matanya (meta.wikimedia.org).))" A complete message would tell you that you are blocked, and "the block was made by" would be added at the end, there would be a block reason, etc. If this was a legitimate block message.
You also did not tell us where you were trying to edit when you got the message. It makes a difference.
Your account is obviously not blocked here. --Abd (talk) 01:38, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi ANDY-DANTE. You were running into a global IP block, and I have made modifications so that you can edit while logged in. — billinghurst sDrewth 05:23, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- That may not have worked, because the editor may have seen a block message anyway. However, he might not have actually logged in. We will see. I emailed the stewards list to request revdel of my talk page. Thanks for assisting the user. --Abd (talk) 17:54, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- ANDY-DANTE, please try again and make sure you are logged-in. If you are able to edit logged-in, please let us know so we can be sure this has been resolved. If you still see a block message, let us know if it is the same message as before or different. If it is different, email the new message to the stewards mailing list as described on No open proxies. I do not suggest asking on Steward requests/Global because you will need to provide IP information for the request to be handled. Such private information should be safe on the stewards mailing list. --Abd (talk) 18:02, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
