[QUESTION]: Online Version: Using on de.Wiki

Type Question
Setup Chrome
  Hey there,

I want to use the online/browser version on DE.wiki. While starting it only complains, that i dont't have the rollback right. How can I change the used wiki to the german, where i have the rollback right? Janui (talk) 17:20, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

@Vermont and 1997kB: Do you have any ideas? --Janui (talk) 08:49, 13 April 2019 (UTC)

@Janui:   Seems fixed. Dewiki not contain rollbacker flag. Rollback rights added to editor flag.—Iluvatar (talk) 09:26, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! --Janui (talk) 10:16, 13 April 2019 (UTC)

Type Bug
Setup Browser type is irrelevant I think :)
Let A[1] denote the current diff. When I click the rewind button the previous diff A[0] shows as expected, but then if I press space, A[2] will be shown instead of A[1] so I have to rewind again to see A[1]. I don't know whether it's intended or not, but it seems counter-intuitive.

BTW I was wondering if I could be added to see the repo and I may help fix some issues if possible. Regards, WhitePhosphorus (talk) 06:49, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Hey @WhitePhosphorus: well.. this is intended. Like rewind we actually don't have a forward button. Space just picks up the latest edit from queue. I'll add you to repo in the evening. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 09:41, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

[OTHER]: Difference between interfaces for revert with summary

Type Other
Setup N/A
Hello, why is the interface different for MrJaroslavik (https://ctrlv.cz/N0Qn) and Janbery (https://ctrlv.cz/hObf)?

Martin Urbanec (talk) 21:30, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello. Turn on auto warning possible only if exist config of warnings for specific wiki. For example, add to "custom wikis" ruwiki, open any diff from ruwiki and you will see on/off button in custom revert window. To all: please do not use warning on wikis, whose language you don't know. Except in case of obvious vandalism.—Iluvatar (talk) 22:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

I can't warn user in SWViewer and have the template in here. I try to log out and open it but the problem also doesn't solve. Anyway, I would like to see the developer can fix it quickly. Thanks!

[SUGGESTION]: Incubator

Type Suggestion
Setup unknown
for https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:Main_Page can you please limit the tool to the users language preference rather than letting them roam free across all language. The reason being that a person needs to be able to read a language to decide if the content acceptible. Unnecessary reverts make the project hostile to building a new community many of whom have already had bad experience with racial abuse from projects like en. Alternative just disable the tool from the incubator altogether.

Gnangarra (talk) 09:57, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

@Gnangarra: IMO it's a bad idea to limit/disable the tool simply. Also tool just picks up small wiki list from Small Wiki Monitoring Team/Groups, and removing incubator from that list is out of scope of this page. If some user is patrolling wrongly warn them or if don't stop block them and its the way I would recommend. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 10:29, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
I get your point. But it doesn't hurt to make it optional. Masum Reza 05:36, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
It is optional, just disable small wiki in settings. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 08:57, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
@1997kB: Actually I was talking about an option to watch wikis that have the user's preferred languages. Masum Reza 09:18, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Whole idea of SWViewer is a tool to patrol small wikis and if we limit users to their languages then there are plenty of tools which can be used for that. But if somebody still wants to patrol some specific wikis, then they can disable small wikis and create a list of custom wiki. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 09:27, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

[BUG]: Warnings not escalating

Type Bug
Setup unknown
I posted at User:~riley's talk page advice on escalating warnings to users who have received similar recent warnings, and he said it is an issue with the software. Can someone with more knowledge here please advise?

Eagles247 (talk) 19:02, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

To clarify, I said I am using software - whether it is an issue with the software is to be determined. Here is an example of non-escalation of a talk page warning en:User talk:197.185.97.147 as well as en:User talk:Wyssnolane. ~riley (talk) 19:08, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
@~riley:, @Eagles247: It’s not a bug. SWV escalates level...
  • ...if in last 500 revisions on TP in last 10 days exist same (!) warns.
For example, spam1 => test1 => test2 => spam2 => vandalism1 => test3 => vamdalism2...
It is for case a comes newcomer who completely anything does not understand. The reason for blocking is ignoring warnings, but what if he commits different misconducts? Warnings are needed not for formality, but to explain to the user. I can make changes to a code, if is it necessary. But im not sure.—Iluvatar (talk) 22:11, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
I generally agree that the software should not escalate to the next level if it's a different infraction. In the case of Wyssnolane's talk page, however, a vandalism1 warning was placed a second time. Eagles247 (talk) 01:12, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
@Eagles247 and ~riley:   Fixed: Special:Diff/19531564. This was a tag issue as software read that tag before placing warnings and tags were use of huggle templates. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 02:10, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Type Feature

Create a preference, in settings, that enables "warn user" for rollback and deletion tagging by default.

Why not store user preferences in a user subpage like Huggle and Twinkle do? Masum Reza 10:20, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
We do store user preferences, but on labs and and I think that will be good option rather adding cache. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 12:47, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

[ADDITION]: Warning when undoing more than one edit

Type Addition
Setup Not relevant
SWViewer can mislead the user into believing it is only undoing one edit. When they hit undo/revert, the previous shows more content has changed than previously displayed. In some cases, it is just reverting more bad-faith edits. In other cases, it is reverting a bad edit (shown on screen) and a good edit (not shown on screen). I am assuming SWViewer cannot divide the preview to show all edits by that user leading up to the previewed revision, however, it would at least be helpful if it said "Warning: Reverting more than one edit, check history first"
