Meta:Requests for deletion

(Redirected from RFD)
Requests and proposals Requests for deletion Archives (current)→
This page hosts local (i.e., Meta-Wiki) requests for page deletion. For requests for speedy deletion from global sysops or stewards, see Steward requests/Miscellaneous. Any language may be used on this page. Before commenting on this page, please read the deletion policy, in particular the criteria for speedy deletion, and the inclusion policy. Please place the template {{RFD}} on the page you are proposing for deletion, and then add an entry in an appropriate section below. As a courtesy, you may wish to inform the principal authors of the page about the request. After at least one week, an administrator will close and carry out the consensus or majority decision.

Articles that qualify for speedy deletion should be tagged with {{delete}} or {{delete|reason}}, and should not be listed here. (See also speedy deletion candidates.) Files with no sources should be tagged with {{no source}} and need not be listed here, either. To request undeletion, see #Requests for undeletion. See Meta:Inclusion policy for a general list of what does not belong on the Meta-Wiki.

Previous requests are archived. Deletion requests ({{Deletion requests}}) can be added to talk page to remember previous RfDs.

No purpose, possibly negative effects. It isn't clearly enough out of scope for me to feel comfortable deleting it without discussion. Best, Vermont (talk) 01:54, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

Wikimedia Cloud/What you need to know about Cloud & Wikimedia Cloud/Rules and GuidelinesEdit

Out of Meta scope. mw:Code of Conduct is enough for ruling purpose of Wikimedia Cloud. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 03:49, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Delete OOS. SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 05:47, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Substitute the rules and guidelines into the proposal page, then Delete both. The main proposal page is so short that it does not require splitting into subpages and I completely fail to see the use of the navigation page that contains two pages, one of which includes a transclusion of the other anyway. 15:47, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
To the IP, if it is substituted, then the page has to be redirected to preserve the attribution of the original text per the CC BY SA 3.0 License. SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 07:22, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Leaning towards Delete, as the page doesn't appear to be authored by WMCS authorities, see history. @Majavah: would likely want to see this discussion (as a WMCS admin) so pinging them here. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 23:28, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Useless imported template, Meta doesn't even have a portal namespace. I generally have been tagging these as {{looks useless}}, but this one is actually used, albeit on pages that were blindly copied from other wikis and usually contain a ton of redlinked templates. If this is deleted, then the use on Category:Language templates should be removed, and the other uses can stay as is (since they are already broken) * Pppery * it has begun 01:54, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Do we have any ideas on how VoIP service links are necessary on Meta? This template is nonsense to me if there aren't. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 09:35, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

This template has nothing to do with VoIP service links, and it is not nonsense. It was originally created in 2006 as a request to move a page into a translated help namespace, and then became obsolete in 2012 when the namespace in question was removed. So delete, but I don't see why this needed to be brought to RfD instead of letting my {{looks useless}} tag resolve on January 3. * Pppery * it has begun 14:33, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Delete useless template. It's easier to type Please move to namespace 114 as well. SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 09:25, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

The only 5 transclusions are incorrect (they seem to expect this template only contains “class=wikitable", probably the behavior on another wiki). --Pols12 (talk) 15:09, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

Template:Birthday Committee/InactiveEdit

This template is related to the Birthday Committee on the English Wikipedia, I have no idea why the birthday committee would be notifying people that they're being removed from the list on meta. This was created in 2019, substituted onto one user talk page a minute later by it's creator and hasn't been used since. 01:00, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

Category:Wiki Women Edit-a-thon Nepal 2016Edit

In case we are indeed dropping the by-year categorisation, then no. The following categories could be deleted then:

Category:Dagbani Wikimedians Chapter/Templates/TabsEdit

These aren't templates, and I'm not sure what this has to do with "tabs". Looks like all of these can be recategorised under Category:Dagbani Wikimedians Chapter, which only cointains Category:Dagbani Wikimedians Chapter/Templates at the moment, though it might be worth renaming it to Category:Dagbani Wikimedians User Group in line with the mainspace pages. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
21:08, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

If you insist to delete, it then at least can we simply rename it to Category:Dagbani Wikimedians User Group without moving, just so we can keep all the subpages intact? -—M@sssly 17:53, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't understand your request. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
19:06, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Rename the categories to User Group rather than Chapter; and move everything in /Templates/Tabs to Category:Dagbani Wikimedians User Group. (since they aren't templates; only the header/footer directly under Category:Dagbani Wikimedians Chapter/Templates are. –SJ talk  18:47, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Category:Tools or Category:Tools and scriptsEdit

Currently, we have the two categories Category:Tools and Category:Tools and scripts, which are only linked to each other by a "see also" hatnote. The first one is categorised under Category:Software and Category:Infrastructure, while the second one belongs to Category:Documentation. Judging by the name though, it looks that both have essentially the same scope, so this splitting makes pages harder to find. While "Tools" is shorter and more concise, "Tools and scripts" appears to be slightly more inclusive, as well as having a significantly higher number of translations. I would lean towards deleting/redirecting the first one, though I am open to see additional arguments here. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
22:23, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Are there anyone have ideas on how can a bot script or template populates one of both? If no such scripts or templates, I prefer merge 1st to 2nd. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 09:27, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

Seems redundant to Category:Global message delivery. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
09:24, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

It exists due to Category:MassMessage/Translations and someone created the parent. So we probably need to find the automated categorisation and change that to Category:Global message delivery/Translations, and then do away with the subcat.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:46, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
