Meta:Requests for deletion

(Redirected from WM:RFD)
Requests and proposals Requests for deletion Archives (current)→
This page hosts local (i.e., Meta-Wiki) requests for page deletion. For requests for speedy deletion from global sysops or stewards, see Steward requests/Miscellaneous. Any language may be used on this page. Before commenting on this page, please read the deletion policy, in particular the criteria for speedy deletion, and the inclusion policy. Please place the template {{RFD}} on the page you are proposing for deletion, and then add an entry in an appropriate section below. As a courtesy, you may wish to inform the principal authors of the page about the request. After at least one week, an administrator will close and carry out the consensus or majority decision.

Articles that qualify for speedy deletion should be tagged with {{delete}} or {{delete|reason}}, and should not be listed here. (See also speedy deletion candidates.) Images with no sources should be tagged with {{no source}} and need not be listed here, either. To request undeletion, see #Requests for undeletion. See Meta:Inclusion policy for a general list of what does not belong on the Meta-Wiki.

Previous requests are archived. Deletion requests ({{Deletion requests}}) can be added to talk page to remember previous RfDs.

Communications committee/NotificationsEdit

Despite people repeatedly leaving notifications here, and despite threads like [1], the last time someone from that committee edited that noticeboard was 2016. We should stop having a noticeboard here if it is just going to be ignored, and redirect these notifications to a space like a mailing list. --Rschen7754 07:43, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

  • I'd like to hear from the ComCom but if the page is no longer used I'd keep it and mark it as historical instead, directing users to forward their notifications to a place they watch, etc. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:02, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
    • I sent an email to movecom mailing list (wmfcc-l redirects there now) informing its members about this RfD. My email is, however, being held for moderation as the list is private and do not accept external, non-members emails. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:12, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
      • My message to the mailing list has been rejected without any explanation. I guess they don't care. I see Greg has replied here though. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:53, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
  • This is not a page which is being actively monitored by the Communications committee or the Movement communications group. I think it is safe to delete and we can recreate in the future if the need comes up. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 18:19, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
    • @GVarnum-WMF: Is there a place where these notifications should go, like a mailing list? --Rschen7754 19:15, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
      • @Rschen7754: Most likely, they would want to contact the Movement communications group (the larger group of movement communicators). There is information about contacting that group on their Meta-Wiki page, but basically they can be reached at movecom We are currently working on a new version of the Communications committee (expecting to announce the members in coming days actually) and methods of contacting them will be on their page once the group is up and running in their new setup, but generally MoveCom is the group people will want to contact. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 22:20, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
        • @GVarnum-WMF: Messages from non-members are being rejected. For example, my email to that list was rejected by an admin saying that I am not allowed to post. I wanted to notify the movecom as a whole of this discussion. I guess if we're going to switch the system, messages from non-members should be accepted or a separate mailing list to receive this kind of notifications created. Waiting on your signal to archive the page. Best regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 14:03, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Category:Conference GrantsEdit

Probably redundant with Category:Conference & Event Grants. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 15:07, 29 December 2019 (UTC)

  • Keep - not duplicate and I see no reason for deletion.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:28, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
