Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Editing/Enable live preview by default

Enable live preview by default

  • Problem: By default, previews cause a reload of the page, which is slow and loses the editor's undo stack.
  • Proposed solution: Live preview ("Show previews without reloading the page" preference) should be enabled by default. This may require fixing any bugs in the feature first.
  • Who would benefit: All MediaWiki users

  • This was actually going to be part of our Real Time Preview for Wikitext project, but we managed to find a way forward without having to make Live Preview on by default. As a result, we have thoroughly investigated all the outstanding bugs listed at phab:T41272 and feel well-prepared to take on this wish :) MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 04:15, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
This seems like something we're already getting because it was top of the list last year, so is there any point in voting for it here? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 23:57, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
I think MusikAnimal said above that making live preview default is not a part of Real-Time Preview project. Real-time preview would also probably not be enabled by default. SD0001 (talk) 04:13, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
