A barnstar for you!
editHi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.
And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.
Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 14:27, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia 15 aniversary
editHey, I'm looking for idea for the january Wikpidia birthday at Strasbourg. Did you already came with more concrete things ? Maybe we could make some remote event coordination with videoconference linking online distants meetups or something like that. What do you think? --Psychoslave (talk) 12:15, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, @Psychoslave:, there will be at least one or two community meet-ups across Germany. We'll put up a coordination page on DEWP next week. More conrete information then, will keep you posted and share the link. On a general note, March 16th will be more in focus than January 15th, because the former is the birthday of German Wikipedia. Planning for an event in Berlin in March, more info soon. --Michael Jahn WMDE (talk) 13:47, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- We will also make a seperate event for the 15 years of Wikipedia in French, but that's an other story. :) Please keep me informed of your advances. --Psychoslave (talk) 16:30, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- The coordination page on DEWP is live now, @Psychoslave:. It resembles the Meta Wikipedia 15 pages. We have included the WP15 design kit and are offering support with localization of the logos. Also, we're offering help with local German press relations, material, birthday cakes and logistical support in general. So far, Wikipedians from Munich have signed up for an event in January, others will follow. Please note that WMDE's celebration in Berlin is scheduled for March, as I wrote above. It's likely that many community groups will also celebrate in March, since it's DEWP's specific birthday. Come to think of it, when is FRWP's "own" birthday date? Also, pinging you, @Jan Apel (WMDE): fyi. Best, --Michael Jahn WMDE (talk) 17:58, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Well, that seems all great ! :)
- See Wikipedia 15/Events/Strasbourg (in French) for what was already more or less decided in our side
- I'll do appreciate some help with the logo. My ideas was to reuse some building from Strasbourg this skyline, and a Bretzel icon, as it is used in the Alsace official logo. We can't use the official one on Commons, because it's trademarked and not under a free license. But it would be great to have the same kind of icon with a W instead of the A.
- The Wikipedia French version will have it's 15 anniversary the 23 March. So far my idea would be to have several events from January to March.
- For the logistical part, I should be able to rely on the WMfr Chapter. We will organize a Wikicheese in January, but having a cake would also be great. Would you have some advises/recommendations about the cake? I will come back to you if it we either need more logistical support.
- For the German press, that would be great, but we will need some interpret as my German level is near Null. ;)
- What about having some shared visioconference January the 15th ?
- --Psychoslave (talk) 12:23, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Michael ! Today I went to a local cake shop, which gave me an estimated cost of 7€ per person for the cake (I don't yet have an estimation of attendees), but they can't make printed cake though. I will see if I can find a local cake shop that can do that, but otherwise I may command it online (example). We will also make a WikiCheese later this month, and Wikipedia France already agreed to allocate 300€ for this. This cake and miscellaneous drinks wasn't counted in this budget though. Let me know if you have suggestions to help us regarding this, and what further information you would need to do so. If you have produced dedicated goodies for the event, they would be welcome too. --Psychoslave (talk) 13:17, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
